Just that really, me and my DP disagree over it!

God yes. This is something I feel very strongly about.

Mehitabel6 · 25/04/2015 16:35

Yes, much better in a thin one.

ouryve · 25/04/2015 16:37

YANBU. Tea just tastes crap out of some mugs.

GlitzAndGigglesx · 25/04/2015 16:37

I don't drink tea but my coffee tastes different in different cups I swear!!

NoelHeadbands · 25/04/2015 16:38

Thin, and with white innards.

Anything else, and it tastes like the milk is off.

BumblingBoris · 25/04/2015 16:38

Yep I agree with you OP, always tastes better in my favourite mug which is from homebase. A white mug with hearts on.....
I hate tea in a bone china cup, its too hot and tastes weak to me.......

Iloveonionchutney · 25/04/2015 16:39

I only drink coffee but it definitely tastes better in fine china mugs. My dad only drinks his tea in a fine china cup too, won't have it in a mug he'd rather go without!

ihatelego · 25/04/2015 16:40

this is dp lol it is a bit over the top to complain about what f**king cup u drink from it dont tast no different

PuppyMonkey · 25/04/2015 16:42

I can't drink tea in places like Costa and Starbucks because it doesn't taste right in their cups (don't like coffee).

ShatnersBassoon · 25/04/2015 16:48

It does. Tea tastes funny if it looks funny, so it has to have a white inner, and preferably be china. The worst mugs are those chunky but lightweight horrors from Whittards.

SunnyBaudelaire · 25/04/2015 16:51

yes it has to be bone china or the tea tastes like shyte.
Coffee - not so important.

DiDiddlyIDi · 25/04/2015 16:51

Has to be fine china every time!!

EndoplasmicReticulum · 25/04/2015 16:52

Oh yes. Tea in a black mug tastes awful.

Looseleaf · 25/04/2015 16:54

Ooh interesting- I don't like mine in fine china and always disappointed when given a cup and saucer rather than a mug! I must be most unrefined.
At least I agree choice of mug really matters!

Totality22 · 25/04/2015 16:55

YY. We have only 4 mugs I will use I know using a mug to begin with makes me rubbish

DP knows this and if he ever presents me tea in anything else he knows it will be decanted into my preferred mug

DontOpenDeadInside · 25/04/2015 16:59

I like a particular shaped cup,,but not bothered on the pattern. Dp bought me a walking dead cup for xmas, I love it, but its the wrong shape!

firesafety · 25/04/2015 17:00

I'll drink my tea in whatever anyone makes it in (within reason!) but it definitely tastes better in a fine china cup/mug.

DontOpenDeadInside · 25/04/2015 17:02

When I say cup, I mean mug. Don't really use that word round here.

SaucyJack · 25/04/2015 17:02

Agreed- but I hate it out of a bone china mug. Tastes thin and soapy.

Thick white builder's mug for me.

ihatelego · 25/04/2015 17:03

i knew i was right! started dp off on a rant now about builders being tea experts (he drinks coffee but makes tea regularly) i guess if he was a tea drinker he'd understand.. i have 1 favourite tea mug that i cherish, about 2 that are tolerable and the rest i drink with ambiguity if i have too.. as just now when dp offered tea in the dreaded christmas mug >shudders< eternally grateful for proffered tea atm however!

I tried to find a pic on google of "my" type on mug but couldn't find one, so heres my personal mug. Old fashioned, but perfect proportions.

mrsbabookaloo · 25/04/2015 17:08

There was a good thread on this ages ago, about having a "mug hierarchy"...will try to find

Sagethyme · 25/04/2015 17:15

Tea in bone china, coffee in stonewear, hotchocolate in biggest cup i can find Grin

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 25/04/2015 17:16

YANBU at all

I'd also add any mug that has been used for coffee to the list of Bad Tea Mugs

babyiwantabump · 25/04/2015 17:17

Oh god yes! Must be a mug - I have 4 favourites on rotation.

Hate it from any kind of china- makes my teeth go funny and makes the tea taste weird!
