to wish I could vote ukip loud and proud

Mumof4worried · 22/04/2015 19:09

I've nc for this, as I generally have to in life.

I'm voting ukip, I live in Peterborough where we have had massive immigration. The affects have been huge. Enlargement of EU distroyed dh building business overnight. The schools are close to bursting and have to do a school run to two different schools, had a 5 hour wait in a and e. Teenage son struggles to get part time farm work like I did when I was a teenager. House prices are out of control, god knows how any of mine will ever leave home.

I'm not saying all of these are 100% to do with uncontrolled immigration, but it has Made the problems so much worse.

I'm not racist, most of my friends are 2nd gen Asians or homophobic, my brother and his husband visit a lot.

I just want an oz type points immigration system. I don't care that lots are highly skilled, that is often very bad as it leads to a brain drain in other countries and my children will have to compete with the worlds most ambitious and motivated people.

I just want to be able to express these thoughts but I'm shamed into hiding them by the media.

And if you don't agree with Labour policies what do you makes of the numbers of HCPs they want to recruit into the NHS? Too few? Too many? Do you disagree with all their policies? Have you checked them out?

You are completely missing the point!
It's not why I disagree that is the issue - it's the fact I can disagree without getting nasty about it. I would very rarely attack somebody verbally just because they believe in something different to me (which is what happens regularly to UKIP supporters).
I have reacted in a likewise manner a few times. But that's mainly to prove a point.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 24/04/2015 10:24

But I have just tried to discuss an issue and yet you insist I'm attacking you. You've called me a loonie (sic).

goldylookingpane · 24/04/2015 10:24

Funny that you decide to make this about you
Just as I don't want to trawl through the pages to find your question, I don't expect you to have to find any comments about eyes!

As much as I would like to continue with the playground he said I said crap, I'm off to work now.

(you'll have to argue with yourself for a while)

But keep posting - We've reached the 700 mark!

sourdrawers · 24/04/2015 10:25

Haters gonna hate This 'hater' only hates that fucking expression.

RedToothBrush · 24/04/2015 10:25

- Offer access to specialist mental health treatment to pregnant women and new mothers.

No. 3 is a surprise! According to some of you lefty loonie, UKIP hate women?

Whilst reducing the time limit for abortions to 12 weeks...

The two policies are completely incompatible and in direct conflict to each.

So don't think you are being too smug there Goldy. Why do you think they have put that one in their? I'll give you a clue, its not because they believe in it - as highlighted by their other policy. Its because it sounds good and will pick up votes from a few women who don't look at the whole picture.

This is the problem. The majority of their manifesto is cherry picked popularist stuff with very little thought and depth behind it, designed to deliberately pick up certain groups of disenfranchised voters.

I wonder just how many UKIP voters would real in horror if you pointed out that specialist mental health treatment for pregnant women includes stopping putting obstacles in the way of maternal request ELCS. Hmmm....

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 24/04/2015 10:27

700+ posts and probably less than 10 posters admitting they are voting UKIP...

GiddyOnZackHunt · 24/04/2015 10:28

I did repeat my question for you.

catgirl1976 · 24/04/2015 10:29

Can you really not understand why someone who would vote UKIP gets a much stronger reaction than someone who would vote Labour, Tory or Lib Dem goldy? Really?

Let's leave the immigration and rascism alone for a moment, since you are so sick of it.

This is a party who do not support equal pay for women.

This is a party who want to abolish Maternity pay

This is a party who want to remove protection against sexual discrimination and sexual harrasment.

This is a party that didn't bother to turn up for a vote on FGM

As a woman and a UKIP voter, could you let me know of these things you found so attractive?

goldylookingpane · 24/04/2015 10:30

No realing in horror here.

catgirl1976 · 24/04/2015 10:32

You know you've won an argument when all you've got left is pointing out other posters typos.

Well done you :)

BIWI · 24/04/2015 10:33

So far I've found at least three posters on this thread (assuming they are all different people of course) who have only been registered on MN since last week; one only joined today.

And funnily enough, all those three are UKIP supporters.

Well there's a thing.

goldylookingpane · 24/04/2015 10:34

Actual Quotes please Catgirl?

Please show me where it is written down that they will be doing these things? or have you been dreaming again

RedToothBrush · 24/04/2015 10:34

All else fails.

Attack someone's grammer sic

I've been up all night with a 7 and a half month baby who has woken every 20 - 40 minutes. I'm not exactly at my best.

But if that's the best retort you've got to try and criticise my point, I think its a point well made.

Its a definite politicians answer that's for sure.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 24/04/2015 10:35

Wait, so weren't you just saying something about how you don't attack posters?

Yet one whole, pointless post dedicated to pointing out grammar mistakes...

goldylookingpane · 24/04/2015 10:36

And now I really have to do some work.

Keep going! Lets reach the 1000 mark!

GiddyOnZackHunt · 24/04/2015 10:37

It's all gone Michael Howard really.

ClumsyNinja · 24/04/2015 10:39

Gosh, Nige and pals are getting really desperate for voters now, poor things. Grin

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 24/04/2015 10:41

I know, Clumsy. It's a sad state of affairs when you consider this thread with largely anti-UKIP sentiment as good publicity for your party. Grin

goldylookingpane · 24/04/2015 10:41

Wait, so weren't you just saying something about how you don't attack posters?

If I am being attacked, I will react and attack back I didn't say I was a saint

Obviously nobody is going to agree with me. I will continue to be attacked, so there is no point commenting further.

As for this:

^700+ posts and probably less than 10 posters admitting they are voting UKIP...
^

Wrong.
All publicity is good publicity in the run up to the elections. The main aim is to be talked about and have a raised profile.
You are all talking about UKIP.
I'm sure they will be pleased.
Bye bye

Threesoundslikealot · 24/04/2015 10:43

All publicity is good publicity in the run up to the elections

That is utter rubbish. Just ask Gordon Brown how much he benefited from the publicity around his encounter with Gillian Duffy, just as one example.

Stringmeupscotty · 24/04/2015 10:45

Vote for who you want to. It's your choice whether you tell people who you're voting for or don't bother and your choice how you deliver that information (i.e. proudly or not).

I know many people who have always been traditional Labour supporters (I mean proper Labour, not centre left bollocks) who are voting UKIP this time around.

Take That said it best I think- Do what you like, no need to ask me us

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 24/04/2015 10:45

No one is attacking you goldy. They're attacking UKIP policy. If you are defending that policy, then expect people to want to engage/debate with you.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 24/04/2015 10:45

Or Gerald Ratner. The publicity worked well for him. Not.

RedToothBrush · 24/04/2015 10:48

Brilliant. Someone has a good point you can't refute and you fuck off.

I'm sure this thread will get to 1000. I hope everyone who is complaining or considering voting UKIP really does consider why they are too ashamed to publically admit it.

So many of UKIP's policies are like the contradictory ones I listed above. They have no thought process about what they mean and what the effect will be.

Yet I'm sure they will get loads of votes. Votes from people like my 90 year old grandmother who complains about immigration, yet has two polish carers who she adores and a grand daughter who she is immensely proud of who has emigrated to New Zealand. And her sister married a polish man and emigrated to Australia to start a 'better life'.

In fairness I see I lot of the same sort of similar short sightedness in other voters, but not quite to the same extent.
