to wish I could vote ukip loud and proud

Mumof4worried · 22/04/2015 19:09

I've nc for this, as I generally have to in life.

I'm voting ukip, I live in Peterborough where we have had massive immigration. The affects have been huge. Enlargement of EU distroyed dh building business overnight. The schools are close to bursting and have to do a school run to two different schools, had a 5 hour wait in a and e. Teenage son struggles to get part time farm work like I did when I was a teenager. House prices are out of control, god knows how any of mine will ever leave home.

I'm not saying all of these are 100% to do with uncontrolled immigration, but it has Made the problems so much worse.

I'm not racist, most of my friends are 2nd gen Asians or homophobic, my brother and his husband visit a lot.

I just want an oz type points immigration system. I don't care that lots are highly skilled, that is often very bad as it leads to a brain drain in other countries and my children will have to compete with the worlds most ambitious and motivated people.

I just want to be able to express these thoughts but I'm shamed into hiding them by the media.

We have Somalians here too parsnip and they don't get along with the Eastern Europeans.

OnlyLovers · 22/04/2015 22:09

Yes, cruik. I can't have a phone conversation with my mother without her shoehorning in 'health tourism' or 'benefit scroungers' or some other shite.

parsnipbob · 22/04/2015 22:12

Cruik exactly!! I have to sit through my family banging on about 'polish shops opening left right and centre', like that has any relevance to anything.

Your concerns are genuine OP - I understand. Only people who are not experiencing the same can snigger and dismiss them.

People may not agree with the way that you are choosing to exercise your vote but I hate the way that your concerns are dismissed.

The other parties, composed of rich men not exposed to these difficulties, are only taking immigration a bit more seriously because UKIP raised the issue and threatened their position.

tilder · 22/04/2015 22:19

If people want to vote ukip, I would rather they were loud about it. Then I would know who to avoid on the school run.

Having pride in voting for a party full of racists, homophobes, bigots and misogynists who want to send us socially back to the 1950s? How could you be proud of that?

parsnipbob · 22/04/2015 22:20

Orange I don't accept this I'm sorry. I have been brought up in one of the most immigrant heavy areas in the country.

You do realise Nigel Farage is actually the son of a banker and is as much a rich over privileged tosser as the rest of them? He just plays on his ordinary guy image for votes.

goldylookingpane · 22/04/2015 22:21

I will be voting UKIP or maybe Conservative and don't give a damn what others think. I refuse to listen to hysterical scaremongering as well.

Mrsbird311 · 22/04/2015 22:22

He does work his fag and a pint very well

parsnipbob · 22/04/2015 22:22

Goldy hysterical scaremongering! UKIP is responsible for most of the hysterical scaremongering!

goldylookingpane · 22/04/2015 22:23

You do realise the newzoid puppets aren't real ?

parsnipbob · 22/04/2015 22:24

You do realise most of this country is still white British?

RedToothBrush · 22/04/2015 22:24

OP: I'm voting UKIP as Peterborough is a shit hole and this will change everything.

Nope. On May 8th, Peterborough will STILL be a shit hole no matter who wins.

slightlyconfused85 · 22/04/2015 22:24

No scatter I haven't considered this - why are the people living in this middle class rural area there because they have been displaced from cities by immigrants? How do you know this fact?! They are there because it is nice and the schools have good reputations and it's commutable to London. There are not enough school places because the local government hasn't invested in the infrastructure to accompany the new build housing projects. This isn't because of immigrants.

catgirl1976 · 22/04/2015 22:25

You do realise UKIP are cunts?

goldylookingpane · 22/04/2015 22:28

Why are so many schools now full to bursting? To the extent that a lot of siblings are having to attend separate schools?

stircrazyinthecountry · 22/04/2015 22:30

Yes ChoudeBruxelles I am more than aware of how long it takes to train medical staff. My sister is a midwife and her dh is a GP. The cold hard reality is that it is not a new problem. There has been a shortage of nurses and GPs for over 10 years. The previous governments have done nothing about it because it is much cheaper to bring in staff from another country than train a British citizen.

parsnipbob · 22/04/2015 22:30

Godly - refer to slightly confused's post in answer to that question.

goldylookingpane · 22/04/2015 22:31

Cat girl. .. talking like that just makes you sound ignorant.

catgirl1976 · 22/04/2015 22:33

Nowhere near as ignorant as supporting UKIP goldy. I'll be just fine, thanks.

WizardofSnoz · 22/04/2015 22:33

I have to say I considered it as my family has been badly affected by immigration in terms of housing in our area and a huge drop in wages in construction which is what my husband works in.

But I'm not going to because it's become more and more obvious that they have nothing to offer beyond blaming things on immigrants. Your road is congested, immigrants, your operation is cancelled, immigrants, your bin isn't collected, immigrants.

I think that initially they presented themselves as a party who would take a stronger line on immigration, which was appealing, but they have gone down the road of the BNP and I won't consider them any more. No chance of a Tory in my area so will probably vote Lib Dem.

DameCatrionaSnidelyGoads · 22/04/2015 22:34

I just wish there was a left-wing, anti-EU, pro-immigration, pro-social justice political party I could vote.

There did used to be one, believe it or not.

It was called the Labour Party.

It disappeared when I was a teenager.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 22/04/2015 22:48

Pubes I grew up in a small village on the Welsh border that was full of first second and third generation Polish immigrants. The Free Polish service men and women who settled here after World War Two and their families. I can't say there was much in the way of racial tension. You couldn't tell who was a lewandowski and who was a Lewis by looking.

Redfox · 22/04/2015 22:51

Parsnipbob- well said

  • would give you some flowers if I know how!
Pyjamaschocolateandwine · 22/04/2015 22:57
