A continuation of this thread, which is far too good to just die now that it's reached 1000 comments!

I see Jimmy page now and then. He's always polite to those that recognise him, and signs autographs. It must drive him mad!

Frizzcat · 24/04/2015 13:27

Actually, I'm not surprised by the female marathon runner. I've heard a few things over the years about her being stroppy.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 24/04/2015 13:28

I have long thought that Princess Anne would make a far better monarch than Charles - and I think he would be far happier as a landed country gent, building eco homes and running organic farms.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 24/04/2015 13:29

Argh - just thought - if that is treason, I hope they have decent wifi in the Tower! Grin

emotionsecho · 24/04/2015 13:29

Minty if that female marathon runner is the one I think it is my BIL has a horror story about her and would agree with you 100% that she is unremittingly awful.

emotionsecho · 24/04/2015 13:30

They are polishing the block as we speak SDTGGrin

OnBlueDolphinStreet · 24/04/2015 13:38

Can I join the "I've met Anthony Head Society"? Smile

Met him in a pub in Richmond in early 90's just after his "Gold Blend days". I clocked him by the bar, then my drinking companion said loudly "Ooh its him from the coffee ad" and went up to him and asked him if he had any coffee. Mr Head, using his acting skills, smiled politely, and managed to hide his irritation. What a gent!

sourdrawers · 24/04/2015 13:40

And avoiding paying his taxes SDTG the greedy Twunt!

Alwaysfrank · 24/04/2015 13:43

Back in the early 80s when he was Man Utd manager Ron Atkinson was very pleasant when he pulled into his driveway (in his primrose Rolls Royce) and found us peering in through his front windows. It was a new development, and his house had been the show home, and the signs were still up so we thought it still was!

Gary Lineker - dh has met him through work and he doesn't have a good reputation for niceness. Very disappointing!

Chris Robshaw on the other hand was very nice.

Gavin Henson - seems very shy

Polly Walker (British actress: Patriot Games, Emma, Rome, Prisoners Wives) is very nice and very beautiful

John Hannah - nice

Jonny Vegas - in Sainsburys with a big baseball cap trying to go unnoticed!

Also in Sainsburys, there was a blonde woman whose face and voice (quite low, Scottish accent) were really familiar and she was there with her partner and baby shopping in a really loud "look at me" kind of way - constantly calling across the aisle to her partner or talking loudly to the baby. I still can't remember who she was but it has been bugging me ever since (prob 3/4 years ago now). I think she was a presenter one of those 90s interior shows like changing rooms or similar. If anyone can help I'd be very grateful! Whoever she was, she was full of herself and very irritating!

Sansarya · 24/04/2015 13:58

Carol Smillie Alwaysfrank?

OP posts:
Alwaysfrank · 24/04/2015 14:10

No - similar accent but younger and blonder!

balletnotlacrosse · 24/04/2015 14:14

I heard, from a relative working in television, that Gary Lineker is not at all nice.

Sansarya · 24/04/2015 14:28

Edith Bowman then Alwaysfrank? And that exhausts my knowledge of blonde Scottish presenters!

OP posts:
Gruntfuttock · 24/04/2015 14:40

Jenni Falconer?

Frizzcat · 24/04/2015 14:50

Gail Porter? She was very blonde before her alopecia, not sure if she presented any decorating shows?

Alwaysfrank · 24/04/2015 14:55

No, none of those either but thanks for the suggestions!

Koalafications · 24/04/2015 15:08

Kate Thornton?

BakewellSlice · 24/04/2015 15:13

Kirsty Young? Not on a decorating show but has a low voice!

flippinada · 24/04/2015 15:20

Could it have been Carol Smillie? She used to present Changing Rooms.

gonegrey56 · 24/04/2015 15:22

Princess Margaret tried to seduce one of my former colleagues when she was on an official trip abroad , he was summoned to the royal bedchamber, and fled when her intentions became clear ....he was mortified !

Alwaysfrank · 24/04/2015 16:06

No, none of those. She looks a bit like Michelle Collins. I'm not going to solve this one, am I?!

girloutofglasgow · 24/04/2015 16:21

Might have been Sharon Small although she's an actress rather than presenter.
at the risk of outing myself can I just mention that Carol Smillie used to live down the road from me...she was the one who told my parents that their much-loved cat had been knocked down..

bruffin · 24/04/2015 16:30

Alwaysfrank Linda Barker but

The80sweregreat · 24/04/2015 16:37

Girl, did Carole run it over? Poor cat! Melinda messenger did a diy programme on ch 5, she was blond...

Plateofcrumbs · 24/04/2015 17:07

I sat next to AH on a suburban train once at the height of Buffy mania. I didn't speak to him but someone else asked for an autograph and he was very nice, entirely unassuming especially given he was starring in one of the most popular TV shows in the world at the time.

Two of the most awful people I have ever encountered, famous or otherwise were when I was volunteering at a major event where literally the entire establishment were present (Queen, PM, etc) - lots of logistics and protocol to follow and the VIPs had to be chaperoned about and told what to do by us humble volunteers. Everyone was very easy to work with, grateful to the volunteers and recognised that the event was more important than they were...with the exception of John and Sally Bercow who were the most pompous, arrogant individuals giving it the full 'don't you know who I am' from the moment they walked in the door (yes, we do know who you are but you are amongst the least 'V' of our 'VIPs' so get a grip). We had a bit of a logistical problem and I needed to them to wait a moment whilst something was resolved and they were utterly unreasonable about it and threw a huge strop. I told the organisers that I'd had a problem with one of the VIPs - they just laughed when I told them who it was and was told it wasn't in the least surprising.
