It just keeps getting worse and worse what comes out of her mouth.

I don't disagree with what she is saying just think she uses horrible language.

OP posts:
Suttonmum1 · 21/04/2015 20:13

If you live in one of the affected countries which European language do you most likely speak? English I'm guessing, followed by French. That's why many people want to come here, that and family already here.

daffsandtulips · 21/04/2015 20:14

Would you take in a family then Catgirl? Would you open your home to them? Would you pay for all their living costs? I hope you would.

OrlandoWoolf · 21/04/2015 20:17

I think we should welcome in people who are fleeing war torn countries and offer them support and a new life.

What would you do with people fleeing rape, war and beheadings?

daffsandtulips · 21/04/2015 20:19

I think there is only so much people can do to be perfectly honest. It is a horrible fact that we can't possibly help everyone. We need to stop enabling these countries as an earlier poster has said.

Whiskwarrior · 21/04/2015 20:23

Because we've never sent any of children abroad during times of war have we and expected families to take them in and care for them. Oh, wait...

If I had the means and the space I'd take in refugees (especially women and children) in a heartbeat.

But then I understand these amazing things called compassion and empathy. Pity some others don't Hmm

Erm Confused

Well, to my mind, that's part of why I pay tax. And why I vote for parties who would take more tax off me. Because I'd like to pay all living costs for those in need. Sadly, not enough of my tax gets spent on helping the poorest and most vulnerable in society and goes on crap like Trident. I'd like much more money to spent helping people who need it.

And if an Syrian family turned up on my doorstep having fled ISIS and god knows what else, I'm sure I'd try my best to help them out. And I suppose they could stay whilst they got sorted.......erm.........there's plenty of room and DS would like the company.......it's not very likely though is it?

OrlandoWoolf · 21/04/2015 20:25

Remember WW2. Children fled the cities and were taken in by families in the country.

Pagwatch · 21/04/2015 20:30

Lol at 'would you take a family then'

Because that's the option isn't it.
Let people fleeing horrendous situations drown or set up the sofa bed.
Although from the amount the international community is doing it seems that how they view it too.

Good grief Katie Hopkins is the most preposterous figure and people agree with her.

daffsandtulips · 21/04/2015 20:33

No it's not likely Catgirl. Nor is it likely that we can take anymore than we do being a very charitable land. Just because I said this is the place people would most likely head for and I would too, doesn't realistically mean we can. So, whilst a few pretentious people on here think I'm as thick as two short planks because Im not well read (read mountains of propaganda and look at statistics). This is reality.

Whiskwarrior · 21/04/2015 20:33

On the other thread about this lots of people were defending KH's rights to free speech! Despite the fact that it's hate speech.

Unbe-frigging-lievable.

LagerthaEarlIngstad · 21/04/2015 20:34

I actually have family members who have taken in refugees/asylum seekers to live in their spare room when they had one. People do do that, it's not at all far fetched. There are actually people out there who are more concerned with helping those in need than jealously guarding our borders. I've never had a spare room to offer so I've never been in a position to do the same.

I also have a friend who described his journey to the UK from Iran as a teenager, because if he stayed there he would have been in great danger because of his involvement in student politics. He didn't do it because he'd heard there were great benefits on offer in the UK he left his whole family behind at the age of 18 because he feared for his life.

peacefuleasyfeeling · 21/04/2015 20:35

Yay, Catgirl! Flowers

Whiskwarrior · 21/04/2015 20:36

I'm loving how well read = propaganda and statistics.

Voting UKIP by any chance?

LagerthaEarlIngstad · 21/04/2015 20:37

As Stewart Lee's taxi driver famously said 'you can prove anything with facts.'

SlaggyIsland · 21/04/2015 20:38

daffs I presume the pretentious jibe was aimed at me. I've had my views described as many things but pretentious is a bit of a first!
I prefer to deal in facts and statistics yes.

daffsandtulips · 21/04/2015 20:39

Im glad your friends did this. Im just pointing out that England can't take all, its sad but we can't. Yes, we are a goal destination due to being so kind and have services that are above most others. The fact is our NHS is struggling, we have no housing, to say the biggest two. We, very painfully, have to say no. We have to get immigration under control.

SlaggyIsland · 21/04/2015 20:40

I'll ask again - any comment about Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland? Or just England?

LagerthaEarlIngstad · 21/04/2015 20:41

I'm in Scotland not England. You know that bit at the top?

Pagwatch · 21/04/2015 20:43

I understand people having views about limiting economic migration.

But I just can't get my head around saying 'but we can't take them' when talking about people packing themselves onto boats you would go in for a trip up the Thames because they are fleeing for their lives.

daffsandtulips · 21/04/2015 20:43

I live in England, hence talking about that Slaggy?

We even have benefits up here. Too many, according to some down South.

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/04/2015 20:45

daffs love, Scotland and Wales aren't counties of England.

daffsandtulips · 21/04/2015 20:47

well then Im not sure why you would have to point this out then "love" (grin)
