It just keeps getting worse and worse what comes out of her mouth.

I don't disagree with what she is saying just think she uses horrible language.

I agree with the Australian policy. It is better to attempt to solve the problems within other countries and not just accept thousands of asylum seekers, particularly when they face a very dangerous trip to escape and may drown.

Unless people are happy to accept bigger class sizes, reduced benefits, higher taxes, longer nhs and housing waits etc then it isn't practical to accept the numbers of people who would like asylum globally, it is better to sort the root problem in their home country.

I can just imagine having to leave my country, my family, my home to cross the sea on a boat that is not save, with no food, drink, confidence that I might live. Obviously finding out after the process has started that there's no way back and I might have, what, 10% chance of making it alive. The last thing that would worry me would be to be called a cockroach by someone as insignificant as Ms Hopkins.

I think I can see what Rosesaresublime is saying, people who go through that journey must be scarred, and if they left a country affected by war must also have lived through horrific things, and seen horrific things. The country that they arrive in struggle to give them shelter and food, let alone any psychological support. It must be extremely hard to adjust. Just imagine that your child would have to go through that ordeal, what they would be like afterwards, how it must affect these children for the rest of their lives.

Will she have column in the Sun tomorrow?

Not worry you - but unfortunately words like hers create a climate which is unwelcoming, hostile and can lead to attacks etc on people who are escaping.

I hate to imagine what she would say if she was in a country bordering Syria - where the refugee situation is massive?

The Sun is thriving on the kind of crap this is causing. She will publish tomorrow with her own version of the truth on her planet. I would bet on it. If anything, her original article has caused a lot of people to become aware of the situation in more details and had the opposite effect as desired.
