It just keeps getting worse and worse what comes out of her mouth.

I don't disagree with what she is saying just think she uses horrible language.

OP posts:
PlummyBrummy · 21/04/2015 21:13

Daffsandtulips, reading your posts has been genuinely hilarious. You've been bested every time and yet you keep coming back with your little smilies and wilfully cross-eyed posts. I think you think you're a wildly successful troll.

You aren't.

Machin · 21/04/2015 21:14

It's quite possible that I'm being dim (and obviously KH and Mr Abbot are unpleasant people with nasty ideas) but is there not some truth in the idea that landing people en masse from the boats and granting them refugee status DOES encourage more people to risk their lives in that way EN MASSE?

The first thing I thought was that furher sailings should be discouraged and and some other kind of escape route should be supported. Is that not possible? Does what OP is saying not fit with that in a way that could be quite well meant?

I must admit I'm not sure of the geography of the coasts in question, but is there nothing in it?

IFinishedTheBiscuits · 21/04/2015 21:16

Daffs, meant more that if you're from England it's obviously going to be YOUR first choice of country to flee to.

daffsandtulips · 21/04/2015 21:16

Of course things are dire and its absolutely awful but personal attacks on people in the here and now, on threads, really need to stop, nothing can be discussed as usual. Everyone practically eats each other. It's a sad very sad but true.

GoldfishCrackers · 21/04/2015 21:17

catgirl I think I love you.

daffsandtulips · 21/04/2015 21:17

fact

Calloh · 21/04/2015 21:19

I know what you mean Machin, long term there must be better solutions but short term surely we need to help rather than sending them back.

Libya is a nightmare we don't even have any sort of any diplomatic mission there anymore.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 21/04/2015 21:19

Everyone practically eats each other.

I'm happy to provide the condiment of the poster's choice if it means they eat someone who is merely spewing little englander tripe in the face of facts.

Grinning smileys on posts gloating about people dying are really not on.

IFinishedTheBiscuits · 21/04/2015 21:20

Machin, I would agree if they were economic migrants. But when you see what's happening in some of their homelands... Daily beheadings, rapes, torture. I can't even comprehend how terrifying it must be to live there, let alone raise a child.
But also think we need to help sort this mess out. Was so glad when Obama agreed to airstrikes and when Jordan (country!) got involved with fight against ISIS. But it doesn't seem to have made much difference...

Whiskwarrior · 21/04/2015 21:20

I think someone needs a dictionary as they clearly don't know what the word 'pretentious' means.

Machin · 21/04/2015 21:21

Oh god no, of course not send them back. Just figure something less risky out quickly, was what I was thinking. At the moment we're not offering a safe way.

PlummyBrummy · 21/04/2015 21:21

Puffins - like you as much as catgirl!Star

Pagwatch · 21/04/2015 21:21

Good lord . A complaint about the standard of debate from someone sneering at posters as pretentious.

Pyjamaschocolateandwine · 21/04/2015 21:23

slaggy

Scary isn't it.

I am sat here in my warm cozy safe home. My kids are fine. My older dd 16 is planning her hair for her prom.

My ds 24 is having a beer and enjoying the footi.

My catsare stretched out in front of the fire and well fed and protected.

I heard that hundreds of these poor people were locked into the hold of the ship.

Hoe can this be happening now. Decades after the Second World War.

What is wrong with people.

daffsandtulips · 21/04/2015 21:24

Here we go.

daffsandtulips · 21/04/2015 21:24

And they're off!

PuntasticUsername · 21/04/2015 21:26

I'd really like daffs to spell out his/her criteria for a proper debate. What sort of evidence is acceptable. How the debate should be conducted. As from what I can see on this thread, statistics from reputable sources don't cut it; nor do balanced, well-reasoned arguments from fellow posters.

It's pretty much "anything daffs says, end of", isn't it?

Whiskwarrior · 21/04/2015 21:30

Oh pun stop being so pretentious.

Machin · 21/04/2015 21:30

It's a shame. It's an interesting, important subject.

ghostyslovesheep · 21/04/2015 21:32

you aren't allowed to disagree or use facts or challenge generalisations and stuff repeated from the back of UKIP leaflets

and you can't engage directly without being accused of all sorts

so I tend to ignore

daffsandtulips · 21/04/2015 21:32

????? its pretty much the same people again and again shouting others down from where I sit. But there again Im neither a "wordsmith" nor am I pretentious. I didnt ever say it wasn't an awful plight for these people. I said that most want to come to Britain and they do.... Don't for get I also said if I was in their shoes I would too.

OrlandoWoolf · 21/04/2015 21:32

We in the West really have no idea what life is like for many people in the rest of the world.

This world could be a good place for all but it isn't. Borders, countries, war, poverty, exploitation.

I don't know what the answer is. But I do know that the world is a fucked up place for many many people. Their situation puts many of our problems into real context.

Whiskwarrior · 21/04/2015 21:35

Daffs

can you give us some evidence to show how you know most migrants would choose to come here?

because otherwise it's just your opinion and counts for very little.

laughingcow13 · 21/04/2015 21:36

But where do you suggest all these refugees are going to live?

daffsandtulips · 21/04/2015 21:38

Since when does any opinion count for less than anyone elses? People who think this are the ones that need to take a very long look at themselves. Very self-important indeed. Like I said, people have a tendency to eat themselves on here. Carry on.
