Very trivial discussion (so I know I am being unreasonable already Grin ), but I am reading a thread about nasty celebs from 2008 (google brought me there) and really enjoying the gossip... AIBU to ask who the nicest and vilest celebs are who you have met in real life?

I love that turn of phrase, Welsh!

I've met Charlotte Church and she was perfectly nice. Her children really, really liked my dog.

Mind i've seen her effing and blinding down her mobile phone in the middle of Cardiff at someone who had either done something very bad or was merely very unfortunate. So perhaps it depends on what mood you catch her in.

I've seen Ruth Jone twice, once the time I thought against approaching and again in an upmarket restuarant. It would have been flat out inappropriate to have approached her but she did seem more cheery on that occasion.

Jools Holland was horrible and seemed disappointed no- one was fawning over him - this was in a green grocers

Princess Anne - lovely person and had such a good grip on the event she had come to open.

CatthiefKeith · 19/04/2015 19:09

Oh! Charles Kennedy was v nice when I met him too, despite being on his knees drinking neat bourbon from the penis of an ice sculpture. He was still in charge of the Lib Dems at the time!GrinGrinGrin

butterflyballs · 19/04/2015 19:09

I had to go and Google to find out this one's name as it was a while ago and I didn't watch embeddable but

Claire king who played kin Tate waltzed into a shop I was working in, service station on a motorway. She was really up herself, very "don't you know who I am" and snappy with the staff. She went to leave the counter and dropped her can of coke, it fell onto the edge of the shelf below and burst open, spraying coke all over her. Was extremely amusing.

We also had Tommy ball (from cannon and ball) come in with his wife. He's adorable, such a nice funny guy and didn't play the fame card at all.

londonrach · 19/04/2015 19:11

Really kelly. Maybe we got him on a bad day but honestly it was one of most experiences of my life!

Humansatnav · 19/04/2015 19:12

Jack Sugden late off Emmerdale - when I was working in a theme park - lovely.
Dp met Stuart Hall 23 years ago- lets just say the revelations didn't come as a complete surprise to him Sad

dannydyerismydad · 19/04/2015 19:12

Ant and Dec, very professional, very serious but totally lovely.

Dara O'Briaine, a total gentleman and a giggle

Jason Donovan was very polite and smells lovely

Edith Bowman - very rude indeed.

Kelly Osborne - about 10 years ago was awful, but I hear she's nicer now.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/04/2015 19:14

I saw Brian May (Queen) on Tottenham Court Road many years ago. I was in that "I KNOW you but cannot place you" zone.
My -now DH said "Oh that's Brian May", and he turned to us and did that self effacing goofy smile Smile . He was with a girl (?DD) so I didn't pester.......................but if you read MN Mr May, a signed photo would be nice Wink

Ahhhhhh he's lovely.

LaChatte · 19/04/2015 19:15

Jools Holland kicked me out of a jacuzzi at Glastonbury festivals ages ago. Wanker.

Sting was nice enough, but a bit put out what he asked if I was a fan and I said no, but my mum loved him Grin

londonrach · 19/04/2015 19:15

Worst not most. (Sorry cooking fish pie and mntting at same time)

Dieu · 19/04/2015 19:15

I LOVE threads like this. My uncle works in airport security, and he said that the Coldplay lads and their children are very pleasant and polite.
He said that Carol Smillie (anyone remember her, Scottish TV presenter?) is his worst. Very up herself.
Apparently Van Morrison is a total horror.

NorksAreMessy · 19/04/2015 19:16

Jacqueline Wilson is the kindest, most thoughtful person ever.
When DD was small, we made a cake to take to a book signing. She was delighted, talked to DD for ages, sent her signed books and handwritten postcards and was an absolute delight. This is after her spending several hours chatting to hundreds of small people.

Well, we knew we were onto a winner, so the next time she was doing a signing, we took a cake along again. She had us scooped to the front of the queue, took her actual WATCH off her wrist and gave it to DD and sent a lovely thank you letter.

She must meet THOUSANDS of children, but she made DD feel like her favourite. We will have those memories forever and I will always be grateful.

professornangnang · 19/04/2015 19:16

Met Chris Martin and said hello. Gwyneth (this was a few years ago) smirked and walked by us without even stopping. They were leaving a restaurant. Chris stopped and chatted and was lobvely. She comes across as a bitch.

Idontseeanydragons · 19/04/2015 19:17

I've also met Stuart Hall and wasn't surprised. He elbowed me out of the way to get to the glamorous women at a football dinner.
Michael Parkinson was a gentlemanly flirt at the same event Grin
Devon Malcolm is a friendly sort of bloke and deals with large groups of starry eyed young cricketers very patiently!

AlpacaPicnic · 19/04/2015 19:18

I recently had the pleasure of meeting - during a 'legend' guided tour of the Millenium Stadium - one of the Welsh Rugby Squad (well a former member) who was just an absolute sweetheart. So much time for everyone, nothing was too much trouble, no questions were off limits. He held the door open for everyone to go through, even though he was the 'star' and he just mingled around with everyone chatting. He even touched my bottom by accident! Well, I kind of reversed into his hands by accident.
I will love him forever...

OneInAMillionYou · 19/04/2015 19:18

Roger Federer, utterly delightful. Signing autographs for everyone who approached him, and taking pics. Could not have been more wonderful. Laughed and joked so naturally.

NorksAreMessy · 19/04/2015 19:18

Oh, and Jools Holland used to drink in the pub I worked at in Kent about 100 years ago.
He was a sweetheart and used to play the piano in the back bar. He bought me a drink (well, he said '...and one for yourself')

Ever NYE I bore all in a two mile radius with this story

londonrach · 19/04/2015 19:19

Norks. I really want to meet mrs wilson. The tickets at my local library went quick (they were free). Shes meant to be a lovely lady and a local hero. Love to fact she made your dd very happy.

why1989 · 19/04/2015 19:20

Another one here for Jarvis Cocker being a diamond!

Met Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) he was a utter prick and made me feel very small. On the other hand Matt the drummer was ruddy lovely!!

Popchik9 · 19/04/2015 19:20

meggymoo so jealous that you met Bruce Springsteen, twice!!! I knew he'd be lovely. I met Jake Bugg and he is really sweet.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/04/2015 19:20

DP met Stuart Hall 23 years ago and let's just say the revelations didn't come as a complete suprise to him Sad

And I met Greville Janner when I was 7yo (many years ago), friend of my parents knew him in a political capacity......I was Shock and Sad at the revelations there but who knows what goes on behind the public facade?

ghostyslovesheep · 19/04/2015 19:20

oh yes Trevor and Simon ... lovely - talked about The Jam a lot!

Mitzeee · 19/04/2015 19:22

Oooh I love these threads!
Prince Philip - lovely man, very soft spoken and polite, we had a lovely chat about cooking courses! Much shorter than I expected though!
Kate Middleton - twice, when her and Wills were going out, and after they got married. Gorgeous person, exactly the same both times - quite shy, but very warm and genuine, ever so polite and concerned about everyone else!
Dizzee Rascal (the rapper) - nice guy, REALLY short but friendly and not at all starry!
Katie Price - lovely, lovely lady. Very much what you see is what you get, very down to earth and a brilliant laugh!
My dad accidentally had to turn his van round in Julie Walters driveway once, and apparently she's fabulous, really friendly and normal, offering advice and cuppas and all sorts!
I'm so relieved at some of the people turning out to be nice!

Kelly1814 · 19/04/2015 19:22

Oh yes, roger federer is amazing! And he does all his press conferences one after the other, in different languages. He is v tall and smells amazing.

Nadal very sweet. Andy Murray also lovely, contrary to popular opinion.

chocogirl77 · 19/04/2015 19:23

I was on a cruise with Jenny Garth (90210) and family, back when she was still married. She was lovely and cooed over my baby whenever we crossed paths. I only found out who she was on the last night when someone else I was chatting to pointed out how low key she was. I never saw Peter what's his name though as apparently he kept to his room and just came out for excursions.
