Very trivial discussion (so I know I am being unreasonable already Grin ), but I am reading a thread about nasty celebs from 2008 (google brought me there) and really enjoying the gossip... AIBU to ask who the nicest and vilest celebs are who you have met in real life?

He eventually decided to leave and as he crossed the room he was sort of waving to everyone and blessing them, despite no one showing the blindest bit of notice.

Grin Grin

What an idiot.

backcrack, I agree that one instance is not enough to base an opinion of an entire character on; we all have days when we're inclined to be a bit short with people, not to mention some people seem to not recognise the concept of boundaries, and that celebrities are humans not performing animals. Added to this, the pressures of being in the public eye, and having every move scrutinised is not something I would want to deal with. But it does depend on the context in which you see them; if they're being a total wankbadger at their own book signing I would see it as far worse than if they lost patience with someone who pestered them for an autograph when they were out with their families. Also, 'having a bad day' is not an excuse for being rude to shop assistants/waiters/people who work for you. This of course goes for everyone, not just celebs.

David Beckham & Vernon Kay totally lovely, friendly, kind chaps
Edge (WWE Wrestler) took my nephews, I wouldn't know him if I fell over him very sweet.

Will Young complete Arse

ephemeralfairy · 19/04/2015 19:00

Paul McCartney's kids briefly went to the same school as my second cousins...there is a legendary story in our family of how PC came to pick his kids up from a party at second cousins' house and their dad offered him a whiskey. PC accepted and dad said 'help yourself, it's in the kitchen, and I'll have one too...you'll need to wash the glasses up first though!' To his credit PC washed up very nicely Grin

Although that's an AIBU thread in itself right there!

londonrach · 19/04/2015 19:00

Was Charlotte churches parents on that bed and breakfast program once..

BishopBrennansArse · 19/04/2015 19:00

Oh and Carby Claire made me want to slap her silly.
She wading with the borange one at the time, separate meetings.

Katie Price I didn't actually speak to or meet as such but she was just getting on with the grocery shop with no make up in trackies with one of the older kids as babies. No entourage, just getting on with it. On several occasions.

butterflyballs · 19/04/2015 19:00

Some of these dp met, some me.

Jimmy white (me): nice but distracted as horse racing was on tv.
Jim Davidson (dp): vile, misogynist wanker.
Prince Charles (dp): lovely
Princess Anne (dp): really lovely, intelligent conversationalist.
John Higgins (me): sweetheart, took time to talk to my 7 year old
Todd carty (me): at a book signing years ago but he was nice
Prince - the purple one (me): really odd and a chronic body odour problem

StrawberryAndScream · 19/04/2015 19:01

Lawrence Llwellyn Bowen - lovely
James Martin - lovely
Gary Rhodes - gentleman
Michel Roux Jnr - lovely
Ainslie Harriot - arse

Idontseeanydragons · 19/04/2015 19:01

Yay a chance to repeat my David Beckham story Grin
Way back when he played for Man U I bumped into him (literally, walked straight into him) on Deansgate and dropped my shopping. He apologised to me despite it being my fault and helped me pick it up.
He was polite, beautiful and smelled lovely Smile
Apparently Camilla Parker Bowles is very sweet and Alistair Campbell is a friendly bloke.

TheSpottedZebra · 19/04/2015 19:01

Someone before asked about Katie Hopkins in 'normal' mode. Well, I met her before she was famous - she worked as a consultant and the form I worked for engaged the one she worked for. She was a cow. And she did this really odd thing of what we think was flirting with a good looking chap or 2 from our group. She sort of stared at them very intently, at close range.

We used to 'do a Katie', back in the office, to liven up boring meetings. So imagine our surprise and delight when she popped up on The Apprentice. Would she be as dreadful on TV? Er, yes.

RonaldMcDonald · 19/04/2015 19:02

Cilla always cilla

Runningupthathill82 · 19/04/2015 19:02

Vienna - it was v funny. While Bono was refusing to leave by the main door, and asking for a taxi to (illegally, I would think) go up a pedestrian precinct to pick him up from a back door, another band - who were just as famous at that time, though a different genre - got up and walked straight out the front door.

I'd like to think they were doing it to make a point .

And yes, I think it's unfair to judge someone on a 2-minute encounter. But after several hours in the company of both JSP and Greg Wallace (separate occasions!) I can say they are really rather unpleasant indeed.

GW made one of the staff working for him cry, in front of 30-40 crew and hangers-on. But the minute the general public were in sight it was all cheeky-chappie act again.

BishopBrennansArse · 19/04/2015 19:04

wading wasn't

I've never actually approached any of these by the way, just happened upon them when I've been going about my business or working.

londonrach · 19/04/2015 19:04

Was handed a butter knife for my bread by some guy from status quo once. He was so lovely. He played a guitar in front of me and we chatting for ages. Think he name was rick something. Very nice man. Again down to earth!

bertsdinner · 19/04/2015 19:06

Margaret Beckett was quite rude to my sister, but did apologise. I once spoke to the guy who played Kurt in Hollyoaks when I worked in banking. He was a bit whiny. He also came across as being pretty dim.

BishopBrennansArse · 19/04/2015 19:06

Rick Parfitt?
Blond bloke?

londonrach · 19/04/2015 19:06

Dh and dbil rode the life with heather from mccarthy fame once in the same week on separate days. I think the limit of conversation was which floor. You cant tell much from that!

BleachedBarnet · 19/04/2015 19:07

Charles Saatchi is exactly as vile as you'd imagine, worse actually. The only person I've ever met who I truly believe to be a sociopath.

Nigella is lovely, if a bit affected/away with the fairies

londonrach · 19/04/2015 19:07

Lift not life...

Welshmaenad · 19/04/2015 19:08

Oh, I apparently met The Zutons once, in a bar in Liverpool, and talked to them about tequila, but I was so drunk I can't remember anything about the evening except falling down the back of a sofa. I was trying to reposition myself and just slithered over the backrest.

ExBF says they were very nice indeed.

londonrach · 19/04/2015 19:08

Yep blond guy. Really lovely! We moved bedrooms at bed and breakfast as he pro booked our room. He apologised.

londonrach · 19/04/2015 19:09

Pre not pro...

Kelly1814 · 19/04/2015 19:09
