Very trivial discussion (so I know I am being unreasonable already Grin ), but I am reading a thread about nasty celebs from 2008 (google brought me there) and really enjoying the gossip... AIBU to ask who the nicest and vilest celebs are who you have met in real life?

Ps I've never met a sleb!

redshoeblueshoe · 21/04/2015 10:59

Booking a trip to Bath just to see AH. I too immediately thought GL - as he was known for cheating on his first wife. I always thought she must have a great divorce settlement - to protect his image.
Seb Coe - I'm too polite to say what I think fucking wanker
Louis Emerick (Brookside) - he was brilliant

bobthebuddha · 21/04/2015 11:27

My life also not complete as I haven't met Anthony Head. He is indeed on Twitter - so who's going to tell him he's won the prize for Top Person? Grin

EmeraldThief · 21/04/2015 11:29

Interesting stuff about the Queen Mum. My late Nana was in service before the war with a woman who'd worked for the Queen Mum in some capacity or another and said she was a "bitch". Those were the exact words my Nana used, and she never swore. She always maintained that the Queen Mum wasn't as nice as the media made her out to be.

Sansarya · 21/04/2015 11:32

I feel there should be another thread about encounters with royalty as there seem to be a lot of tales to tell!

EmeraldThief · 21/04/2015 11:37

Oh definitely Sansarya

I've heard good things about Charles and Camilla, and also Zara Philips.

bobbywash · 21/04/2015 11:42

I've met a few Premiership Footballers, the one's I've met seem to know how lucky they are and are very down to earth.

Jade Goody was someone who I couldn't stand until I met her, she was suprising, in that she was quite small, and a lot prettier than I had thought from the TV. she was very loud though, but not in that "I'm really important way" I just think that was the way she was.

dougierose · 21/04/2015 11:44

I met Prince Andrew at an overseas High Commission party and he was a bit weird. A guy in our group was a helicopter pilot so Prince A gave a very graphic demonstration about what it was like to have to raise your leg to get over a certain type of pedal or joystick or something. He was quite excited.

And then he took the piss out of me when (in return to his "And what do you do?"question) I said I was a lady of leisure (being ironic). "Eeeeuuuuooooaaah, a laydddddeeeeeee of lessshhhhure, are you?" he quipped. I thought that was a bit rich coming from him.

EmeraldThief · 21/04/2015 11:51

Oh and I think I know the identity of the footballer turned presenter who was caught getting a blow job from a runner. He's had countless affairs, the press are aware of his behaviour but for whatever reason they never expose him.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 21/04/2015 12:02

I heard from a relative of my friend (he is a film producer) that JT is gay (I dont know why they hide it in this day and age!!), and that BW has been know to sleep with women and men to ensure he gets parts.

Sansarya · 21/04/2015 12:06

I thought that was a bit rich coming from him.

Grin
BitOutOfPractice · 21/04/2015 12:07

I've tweeted Anthony Head Grin

Think who are JT amd BW?

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 21/04/2015 12:11

Not sure if Im allowed to print full names Confused

Danny Zucko and John McLean Grin

squoosh · 21/04/2015 12:12

Oh dougierose how did you resist dropping a bit of cyanide in his drink or at the very least tripping him up?

Sansarya · 21/04/2015 12:14

Oh yes, there’s been rumours for years about JT (and indeed TC – friends of friends have seen him on dates with various guys) but I’m quite surprised to hear about BW.

Many years ago I met a girl whose father was in First Knight and she said that RG spent the entire shoot hitting on her dad!

phlebasconsidered · 21/04/2015 12:18

Years back, my reading group at school wrote to tons of celebs asking them what their favourite book was and why. Lots wrote back, in fact the only one who didn't, I recall was Martine Macutcheon.

Brian Patten the poet and author, not only wrote back a fab letter but sent a book and a poem specially written for us. Jacqueline Wilson wrote back all about reading girls magazines, a really inspiring letter.

John Prescott was a star, he wrote back a letter not only enthusing about his favourite book, but explaining that it took him years to read it and understand it all, he explained that he loved it first because of the freedom the kids in it had, and then as he became more self-educated, he started to love the language too. He sent us a copy of the book: Swallows and Amazons.

Away from authors, I once got a lift home from a gig from the girl band L7. They rocked.

Tanith · 21/04/2015 12:27

Gasp: He'd be a lot more interesting than the Party-Line parrots quoting from their manifestos, that's for sure Wink

Missdread · 21/04/2015 12:36

Princess Anne is utterly lovely: she makes the effort to speak to everyone in the room, genuinely listens and likes to crack a joke. Lovely woman!

Missdread · 21/04/2015 12:39

A good friend of mine used to work on the cheese counter in a Waitrose in the South East in the late 90s. She used to see all sorts of celebs but the one that shocked us all at the time was Rolf Harris, who she said was rude and kicked and shouted at his dog!! We were all Shock Shock Shock as he was a National Treasure at the time (Animal Hospital etc)..17 years on now look at him!!!

OnlyLovers · 21/04/2015 12:41

Tooold, that Tony Benn story has brought a tear to my eye!

I know someone who worked with Andrew Lloyd Webber. Nightmare. Threw his toys out of the pram at a very very minor thing. Wouldn't expect any different, really; I reckon his engagement with the real world is at about 0.000000001% per cent.

emotionsecho · 21/04/2015 12:42

Alvis and Emerald there was a great deal of sarcastic hilarity about the portrayal of the Queen Mother in 'The King's Speech' from MIL and her friends who also had the misfortune of being in close proximity to QM.

I mischeivously asked MIL if she'd like to go to pay her respects when the QM died, her response was priceless but I can't print it here I'm afraidGrin.

Missdread · 21/04/2015 12:42

Last one from me: my mum met Denise Welch at a charity do in the North-East and she was a total diva making all sorts of demands, not talking to people and generally behaving in a "do you KNOW who I am?!" kind of way!

madmomma · 21/04/2015 12:58

Christopher Eccleston is polite and a good sort, but quite (unintentionally) intimidating.

Mark Morrison is a nasty sleaze

Myleen Klass is lovely

hidingfromthem · 21/04/2015 13:04

yes i've heard JT and TC are gay.
have it on good authority that HJ is also gay as are JR, SC, GC, RG and BC.

surprised by BW.
don't like him no matter what - he seems to be quite the wanker.

Sansarya · 21/04/2015 13:07

hiding I have a pretty good idea of who HJ is (and can believe it) but will have to think a little more about who JR, SC, GC, RG and BC could be!
