Very trivial discussion (so I know I am being unreasonable already Grin ), but I am reading a thread about nasty celebs from 2008 (google brought me there) and really enjoying the gossip... AIBU to ask who the nicest and vilest celebs are who you have met in real life?

Gasp David Attenborough came to watch a play I was in about 20 years ago, he was really really lovely, and spoke to pretty much every single one of the cast and crew after.

Ones I have met that were nice are:
Jil Dando
Monte Don
Michael Palin
Denise Van Outen
Jamiroquai
Boyzone
Westlife

Ones I wasn't quite sure about:
Keeley Shaye Smith (Pierce Brosnans wife) was really nice until suddenly when she didn't get her own way shouted out "Don't you know I'm Pierce Brosnan's girlfriend"

Liam Gallager was very nice when with his family but one he was in 'Oasis' mode he changed into a rude nasty piece of work.

SpecificOcean · 21/04/2015 09:17

Flavia from strictly- really sweet
Harry Rednapp and wife in immigration at Heathrow this year- both so genuinely nice.
David Thewlis (was Wheeler then) was mates with my sister when she was living in Blackpool, so before he was famous. I met him a few times he was soooo quiet but nice.
Bobby Charlton-miserable.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/04/2015 09:33

Thank you, LaChatte, that's a relief!

Breadrocks · 21/04/2015 09:34

Only made it to pg 18 so far and this thread keeps growing faster than I can keep up!
Not sure if he's been mentioned yet, but quentin tarrantino is a knob. Shouted at my friend in the middle of an airport as she was getting her phone out to go and ask him for a picture. She was terrified, and is unfailingly polite so would never have just marched up to take his photo without asking first. Such a shame as I think he's a genius at what he does, but seemingly a complete weirdo as well. I was not far away but unaware of what was going on which is lucky for him as I would have shouted back

Sansarya · 21/04/2015 09:38

A friend of mine used to work at the BBC and said a project manager was once caught giving oral sex to a certain former footballer who is now a presenter. Nobody said anything to him but she was raked over the coals for “endangering the reputation of the talent”!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/04/2015 09:44

GL, Sansarya? He has a bit of reputation, I believe, based solely on what I've read here, I should add!

hidingfromthem · 21/04/2015 09:44

SiobhanSharpe
.... a few years ago he taught a very famous indeed young singer and had no idea until recently that the guy had become mega-succesful. He was amazed as he thought the lad was a total tosser, drama queen and general waste of space. Very disruptive in the low ability class unless he was the absolute centre of attention and made it difficult for other kids who actually wanted to learn.

Was that Hozier? he does indeed seem like a bag of douche.

Sansarya · 21/04/2015 09:47

Aye Gasp, and this was while he was married to his first wife I think.

hackmum · 21/04/2015 09:54

Oh yes, a tabloid journo friend told me years ago that GL had a reputation for being a lecher, and I was really surprised because at that time he was still married to his first wife and everyone thought he was a lovely devoted family man.

Tanith · 21/04/2015 09:56

Perhaps the next person to bump into Anthony Head could mention his Mumsnet popularity to him Grin

Come to think of it, has he been on a web-chat yet? Then we could all meet him!

Sansarya · 21/04/2015 09:58

I just couldn’t believe the “endangering the talent” bit – like he was some sort of innocent who had to be protected! So I wasn’t surprised when all the Jimmy Savile and turning a blind eye etc stuff came out.

KraggleLego · 21/04/2015 10:05

I went to school with Kimberly Walsh from Girls Allowed, utter utter bitch to me.

Saw Marco Pierre White filming in Leeds high street, he was surrounded by his entourage to keep the plebs away and had a furious scowl on his face.

Also bumped into what I thought was a tramp in Leeds trains station, he turned out to be Jimmy Saville, I shudder thinking about it now.

I was thinking that too Tanith !

Anthony Head for a webchat please MNHQ!!

LaLaLaaaa · 21/04/2015 10:11

Used to see John Leslie loads as he was a regular at the bar I worked in. Cocky, unpleasant and lechy.

Also met Mel and sue who were soooo nice!

And met carol vorderman who was brilliant, we bonded over mutual love of take that Grin

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/04/2015 10:11

Delightful though he does seem to be, what would the webchat be like?

Poster 1: I met you once on the train and you were lovely!

AH: Oh, I'm just an ordinary bloke. Surely everyone is polite?

Poster 2: I met you once in the street and you were lovely!

AH: And so were you, I'm sure.

Etc etc etc. Might be more interesting to get somebody on here who is consistently slated on these threads, e.g. Cilla Black, Gregg Wallace, and then we could all throw things at them. Grin

Livingtothefull · 21/04/2015 10:22

Princess Margaret visited my home town once and yes she was vile. She was chain smoking the whole time and had a lackey follow her everywhere carrying an ash tray…tipping her ash into it every few seconds without him, as if he were a dog.

She walked past the row of dignitaries gathered to greet her, again without acknowledging them with a look or smile….just walked past them as fast as possible to get it all over with.

ElsieMc · 21/04/2015 10:23

A few years back I was in St Anne's Square Manchester with my two young GS's. They were very excited to spot Steven Gerrard. I told them not to approach him, but he still rushed into an upmarket gents' outfitters to avoid them. I watched him look at them through the window and he did that thing where his head seems to sink into his neck. I just told them that he was giving out negative vibes and to leave it. They were so disappointed.

Livingtothefull · 21/04/2015 10:24

I meant: without looking at him

LaChatte · 21/04/2015 10:36

We could ask him questions such as: Mr Head , if you hadn't become a librarian actor, what would you have liked to do?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/04/2015 10:37

KRaggleLego - I have never had the 'pleasure' of meeting Marco Pierre White, but just thinking about him gets my blood pressure up! I have watched him on Australian Masterchef, and maybe other programmes too, and his supercilious, looking-down-his-nose, so much better than you plebs attitude, makes me FUME!!

I am boycotting the MPW steakhouse in Hotel Indigo in Glasgow, just because I hate him so much. I don't think he's noticed, though. Sad

JoBlogs · 21/04/2015 10:50

I had tea in a hotel once with Jill Dando. Utterly delightful, gentle, beautiful, down to earth.

Sadit · 21/04/2015 10:55

My foaf lives in the US and said the kardashians are really really lovely. The mum is a bitch but Kim and khloe are really nice. Kourtney is away with the fairies, kylie and Kendall were always going to be a handful. Bruce: effeminate and strange, aloof. Scott disick nice and stoned.
Angelina a nightmare. Needs an Oscar for everyday life.
William shatner a drunken cunt.
Keanu reeves best person ever.
Same foaf says he wants to live with VB. Kind and generous to a fault and both beckhams use their wealth and celebrity to help good causes but also a lot of behind the scenes charity work that no one sees!
