Nastiest celebs...

Very trivial discussion (so I know I am being unreasonable already Grin ), but I am reading a thread about nasty celebs from 2008 (google brought me there) and really enjoying the gossip... AIBU to ask who the nicest and vilest celebs are who you have met in real life?

Agreed MPW is a total and utter wanker. i feel sorry for anyone who comes into contact with him.

NettleTea · 20/04/2015 16:43

we met Chris Packham on holiday - he put aside half an hour to talk to us about our farming plans and comment on DS's rocket drawings - lovely lovely bloke.

Boy George threw me out of a backstage area I had no business being in, and then was quite flippant to me when I met him 25 years later.

Bought a tent off Joe Duttine (Coronation street) and in occassional chat since - his wife and sister came to stay with us, he was filming...

We met Tony Robinson in the High Street - he was nice but reputation has it he can be a bit of a one if you are not careful

curlyweasel · 20/04/2015 16:46

Burt Quok lovely - bought me a pint
Joe Strummer lovely - also bought me a pint
Dawn French probably horrible - she's never bought me a pint

Devora · 20/04/2015 16:48

Boy George copped off with my boyfriend. In front of me. FACT.

MPW told a young woman I know, apropos of absolutely nothing, that she was hideously ugly. She was in fact stunning, but clearly had not been paying him enough attention.

squoosh · 20/04/2015 16:49

Is Anthony Head the ying to Marco Pierre White's yang?
The Sherlock to his Moriarty?
The Papa Smurf to his Gargamel?

Devora · 20/04/2015 16:49

But I've never met Anthony Head. Maybe he should come in for a MN webchat?

flowerygirl · 20/04/2015 16:51

My friend worked with Esther Rantzen and said she is a total viper.

I worked in the film industry and by far the worst was Tom Hardy. He called a female member of staff working on a project a c*nt.

Devora · 20/04/2015 16:55

Oh, Esther Rantzen! Stuff of legend at BBC for being hideous to work with. I had a job interview with her once and she couldn't have been ruder.

flippinada · 20/04/2015 16:56

I've never met Anthony Head either - we should form a club.

derxa · 20/04/2015 16:57

Met Rolf Harries |He was presenting the prize at a children's art competition in a garden centre of all places. Neither nice nor nasty. Very distant and not jolly.
My father once slapped Prince Charles on the back when he won a breeder's prize for sheep at Smithfield show (now defunct). My father has a photograph of this incident on his kitchen wall showing a very surprised looking Prince Charles.
Stood behind Paul Merton in a bookshop queue in Edinburgh once. Very normal.

Devora · 20/04/2015 16:57

I swear, we need an Anthony Head webchat. There's probably only two dozen MNers who haven't met him yet, so we could have him all to ourselves. (We would have to exclude those that had met him; the whole webchat would be sidelined by gushy, "I met you and you were lovely, do you remember?" posts and it would get very tedious Grin)

squoosh · 20/04/2015 16:58

How did you react when your boyfriend started snogging Boy George??

Devora · 20/04/2015 17:01

I was actually very calm. We were very young, my boyfriend was very very pretty, I was beginning to think I was probably lesbian myself, so it all seemed to make sense Grin. Still, 'Boy George nicked me boyfriend' is quite irresistible as a line.

Lurleene · 20/04/2015 17:02

I met Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman and, bearing in mind that they must be approached by people constantly, they were both genuinely friendly people and were great with my son who was basically rendered speechless by the whole experience!

Devora · 20/04/2015 17:04

I should add: we had just been to the Scala for an all night film viewing (which was a fave activity of the New Romantics). My boyfriend - who was at St Martins Art School - was wearing a full skirted cream dress with a big hat. I had cropped bleached hair and was wearing jeans. You can't fight the tide of history Grin

squoosh · 20/04/2015 17:05

There's probably still a sad face photo and £50 to be made from selling the 'Boy George nicked me boyfriend' to Take A Break or another 'quality' publication!

flippinada · 20/04/2015 17:06

I love squoosh's picture. I like to imagine it was taken just as he was setting out to take some orphans toy shopping in Hamleys - and of course he was utterly charming to everyone he met on the way.

I saw, but didn't speak to, JK Rowling outside Jenner's, several years ago. She was with her daughter and looked rather glamorous.

I have also bumped into (on one occasion almost literally) Nicola Sturgeon. She is very petite and much prettier IRL.

Lurleene · 20/04/2015 17:07

Forgot to say that I was chatting with a woman recently who comes into contact with lots of celebs in her line of work, including Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, and she says that most of them have been fine if not lovely.

Apart from one who she absolutely detests - Jeremy Clarkson.

WillowSpider · 20/04/2015 17:09

Don't know if he's been mentioned already, but that Spencer off MIC is an absolute arse in RL (probably no surprise) - at a public open air event last summer he was an absolute nasty rude git to the very patient stewards/marshals there simply trying to do their job.

flippinada · 20/04/2015 17:14

I've just realised a) Jenners doesn't have an apostrophe and b) I also met Rolf Harris, many many years ago outside the Garage in Glasgow. I said hello and he was polite and blandly pleasant - no indication of anything unpleasant but then there wouldn't have been.

ollieplimsoles · 20/04/2015 17:17

We met Sienna Miller in the Tate Britain when we were visiting on a college trip, she was LOVELY. Considering she was just on a quiet trip out and was cornered by a group of excitable Northern gals Wink

flippinada · 20/04/2015 17:17

I notice upthread someone mentioned Terry Deary (Horrible Histories writer) as being lovely.
I
I thought he was famous for being a nasty piece of work? I'm sure there's been threads to that effect on here. Will see if I can dig them out.

Disappointed to read that Victoria Wood is a scuzzy litter dropper. I hope she was just having an off day..

Rhymerocket · 20/04/2015 17:22

We saw Paul Weller in London with a young lady. My OH asked him for a photo and he told us to Fuck Off. Prick!

meglet · 20/04/2015 17:23

I've only met Jarvis, chatting off camera while presenting TOTP, another nice report for him.

BakingCookiesAndShit · 20/04/2015 17:27

Johnny Lee Miller - nice, if drunk a lot
Jude Law - so far up himself he needs a snorkel to breathe, couldn't understand why I didn't immediately drop my knickers for him. Or ever do that in fact.
John Lydon - very intelligent and sweet with DS, teensy bit weird though.
Julia McKenzie - lived next door to friends, was just lovely.
Colin Firth - absolute gent
Michael Palin - is a really lovely man, kind, witty and intelligent
Jimmy Saville - not me, but a friend broke his neck playing rugby and spent time at SMH and wouldn't let any of his female friends visit him because "Saville's not fucking right". Used to tell Saville to fuck off out the ward whenever he visited.
Princess Anne - lovely, funny, snorted when she laughed, always knowledgeable about whatever she is doing.

I used to work at festivals doing security and only met a couple of people who were wankers. Bono was vile, thinks the sun shines out of his actual arse as does Paul McCartney, was like Tatooine when they were both about.

I knew George Best quite well at one point. He was a horrible drunk. He was out drinking the very first night he was capable of leaving the house after his liver transplant. Thought it was hilarious. A very dear friend had just died due to not being able to get a liver match in time. How I managed not to bite him, I'll never know. and yes, I know that the liver Best got wouldn't have been a match most likely, but well....
