Nastiest celebs...

Very trivial discussion (so I know I am being unreasonable already Grin ), but I am reading a thread about nasty celebs from 2008 (google brought me there) and really enjoying the gossip... AIBU to ask who the nicest and vilest celebs are who you have met in real life?

OP posts:
AttilaTheMeerkat · 20/04/2015 14:00

Bill Bryson - lovely man and very self effacing.

Penn and Teller - also both lovely and sweet. He spoke nicely to DS when he said that he should have won Celebrity Apprentice.

flippinada · 20/04/2015 14:07

I think Squiddly wins the nastiest celeb. Bleurgh.

On a happier note, I think Cressida Cowell is utterly lovely. Went to a talk she did last year - she was full of enthusiasm, spent ages afterwards signing autographs and chatting to her young fans, AND posed for photos.

Outside a shop in Edinburgh last year, spotted a man wrangling two fractious toddlers. I gave him what I hope was a sympathetic "been there" look - he met my gaze and I realised it was Stewart Lee! I mumbled something and dashed off, mortified. He probably thought I was a complete weirdo Grin.

No horrible celebs, I'm pleased to report.

Devora · 20/04/2015 14:09

A friend of mine is neighbours with Harry Styles and says he's a Very Nice Boy.

Ooh, I met with Kerry off CBeebies - in a toilet - she was with her dd, I was with my dd, we got chatting about her book and I was saying how much my dd2 loved it, it was great for her at a time when she was struggling being the only mixed race child in her class. Minutes later, I saw her again and she came over to suggest some other things my dd might enjoy. I have to say she seemed lovely.

worldgonecrazy · 20/04/2015 14:11

Nicest: Alesha Dixon, Benji and Joel Madden, Joe Cocker, Kylie, The Christians (giving my age away!), Slipknot

Nastiest: has anyone mentioned Eric Clapton yet?

Skeppers · 20/04/2015 14:14

Vic & Bob. Vic was a bit 'aloof' (still charming, just a bit shy, which I didn't expect!) but Bob was a grade-A LEGEND! Grin

Derren Brown- was super nice; I had a long discussion with him about cold reading and he recommended me a few books on the subject, I've still got the list he wrote down somewhere. Very lovely chap.

Literally bumped into Nigel Havers coming out of a chippy in London once. I think I stood on his foot. He was very gracious about it all.

Cerys Matthews- hard work. This was in her early drink/drug Cardiff days. She seems to have mellowed out a bit now! I know of at least 2 establishments she was barred from. At one event I was working she was warned a number of times by security staff for standing/dancing on tables and got terribly gobby when challenged. We've all been there, I s'pose!

Manic Street Preachers- very self-effacing and down to earth. Nicky Wire isn't as tall as you think he is; the others are just all tiny. Worked an event where they were at least 80% more famous than everyone else there, but you wouldn't have known it by their general aura of coolness.

I also got 'chatted up' by (SIR) Anthony Hopkins whilst I was working behind the bar at an event! Grin He's not my cup of tea but actually very charming, for an older fellow.

Fortunately, I've never met any 'nasty' celebs- sorry to be boring!

Skeppers · 20/04/2015 14:18

Oh, and Steve Davis (snooker player) was a sweetheart. There was a snooker tournament taking place at the venue where I worked and during a short interval he came and sat by me behind the 'scenes'; I was reading 'The Moonstone' for an exam I had coming up and he was talking about the book with me. Very knowledgeable! He signed my book for good luck. Smile

frankie001 · 20/04/2015 14:19

I want to meet Anthony Stewart Head :(

Skeppers · 20/04/2015 14:23

I'd love to meet Patrick Stewart! Don't know why, just think he'd be hilarious. I'm sure someone on this thread will set me right.

Kajamite · 20/04/2015 14:23

I met Jeremy Beadle years and years ago. He was really lovely! He told me that my name is also the name of some kind of game.

He then told me that the secret to winning the game is the number 4.

To this day i still don't have a clue what he meant Grin

Apparently some Game of Thrones actors were in DP's work and a few were pretty miffed that he doesn't watch it and had no idea who they were

TheAssassinsGuild · 20/04/2015 14:24

I used to teach English to waiters in Marco Pierre White's early restaurant Harveys. He was a bully and utter wanker. He used to pick up members of staff and throw them across the room.

A colleague used to work with/for Gwyneth Paltrow. She reports that she is quite mad, and my colleague left as soon as she was able.

FluffyTheEvilOne · 20/04/2015 14:27

Skeppers, so do I! Only good things heard about him so far, and he is very up on women's rights (his mum was subjected to DV) so I'm sure he's fab.

I also really want to meet Ian McKellan, and am desperate to know whether Miranda Hart is actually lovely.

EveryFrickingNameIsTaken · 20/04/2015 14:34

Fleebee Edge??? LUCKY!!!

I met Donnie Wahlberg (and the rest of NKOTB, but Donnie sticks in my mind more because he was hilarious) after one of their gigs. All extremely nice and really took time to talk to and have photos taken with fans. Which I was so glad of because if they'd been twats I think I'd have cried.

TheWitTank · 20/04/2015 14:34

Patrick Stewart is lovely. Really 'twinkly' eyed and smiley.
Amanda Holden was nice.
Jeremy Clarkson was a misery.
Alex James is an absolute sweetheart.
Ben Kingsley is lovely.
Tony Hadley is really nice.
Pat St Clement is really sweet.
Richard Hammond is exactly like he is on TV! Really nice.

JarvisCockerSpaniel · 20/04/2015 14:37

Harry Enfield! He was a director on the set of Skins and I was an extra. Tired and busy but still lovely to absolutely everyone.

The rest of Skins- Hannah Murray (cassie) quiet and came across as aloof but maybe just shy. Never said a word to anyone.

Nicholas Holt- lovely, I had a major crush but he was really friendly to everyone.

The guys who played Chris and Jal didn't speak to anyone, we had an after party but they kept themselves to the themselves. Sid however (Mike Baily?) was very funny and danced lots.

My ex boyfriend's mum used to work for a firm up North that did Peter Kay's accounts. I really wanted to believe otherwise but he's apparently rude and acts like it is a huge effort to have to communicate with you.

YouTheCat · 20/04/2015 14:54

Jeremy Beadle went to a friend's 40th (20 years ago). She'd met him through work earlier in the day and mentioned she was having a party and asked him if he'd like to come.

She was really surprised when he turned up. He was lovely to everyone and was up dancing most of the evening.

TheAssassinsGuild · 20/04/2015 14:56

I met Edward Watson (principal at the Royal Ballet). He is completely lovely and very modest.

HalleLouja · 20/04/2015 14:58

My cousins went to school with Jeremy B's kids. My aunt wasn't a fan but she isn't a fan of many people. I did hear he did raise lots of money for charity that wasn't hugely publicised and was a good egg.

LastNightADJSavedMyLife · 20/04/2015 14:59

Emma Willis was perfectly normal and waited in a queue with other mums and dc for ages.

Steve Davis - quiet and kind, nice man

Noel Edmonds - sleezy in a car salesman way

Jade Goody - nice person

Sharon Osborne - very, erm, driven as you'd expect

LottieMumofWilfJenkins · 20/04/2015 15:00

I met Helen Fraser (Bodybag in Bad Girls) on Saturday. I didnt realise it was her to begin with as i was making a huge fuss of her pug dog. She is lovely! I tried to persuade her to come to our dog show!!

chocolateyay · 20/04/2015 15:01

I saw one of the birds of a feathers women today - the blonde one. Crossing the road she was. No insights though, sorry. I have heard that she is nice.

HalleLouja · 20/04/2015 15:01

I know someone who was bullied by Alesha Dixon and heard other not so nice things about her.

LottieMumofWilfJenkins · 20/04/2015 15:06

Just scrolled back down the thread........... I have met Anthony Head with ds2 at Discover Dogs and we had our pic taken with him. He is gorgeous and very friendly!!
I met Keith Floyd twenty five years ago when he visited my sister (her friend was his then gf) He asked my sister for a mallet to keep me quiet!!! Grin

BodleianLibrarianook · 20/04/2015 15:10

Ooh! Rula Lenska! Lovely. I looked after her shopping whilst she went to the loo in Costa Coffee. Grin

Sansarya · 20/04/2015 15:15

Has anyone here NOT met Anthony Head? I feel quite left out!

DrDre · 20/04/2015 15:16

I was at school with Richard Ayoade. He was a bit of a split personality, sometimes he was really pleasant and a good laugh, sometimes very grumpy and highly offensive. It was obvious even back then that he was something special and destined for great things.
