Very trivial discussion (so I know I am being unreasonable already Grin ), but I am reading a thread about nasty celebs from 2008 (google brought me there) and really enjoying the gossip... AIBU to ask who the nicest and vilest celebs are who you have met in real life?

Dieu My assistant's friend went to school with JC and says he bullied her and made her life a misery apparently.

anorakgirl · 19/04/2015 21:14

We'd not been together long, now after 15 years I'm just starting to forgive him :( !

Awks · 19/04/2015 21:15

I'd love to know if Peter Kay is a dickhead. I've heard he might be but that's just gossip. Anyone any thoughts?

Dieu · 19/04/2015 21:16

I kneeeew it! My instinct seldom fails me. He appears overconfident to the point of arrogant. Thanks for replying!

MissBattleaxe · 19/04/2015 21:16

Bruce Springsteen is lovely according to some people I know who met him several times.

A friend who worked in a theatre said Dawn French wouldn't speak to the theatre staff when she visited Lenny Henry who was in a show there at the time.

Ardal O'Hanlan ( Father Dougal in Father Ted) was lovely.

Rupert Everett is gorgeous and very tall in RL, and was polite but firm " I don't mind a photo with you, but I am out with my friends tonight" ( not to me- I just witnessed it and went all star struck in the corner).

Joanna Trollope is incredibly posh but was very charming at a signing. Pronounces house as "hice"

Instituteofstudies · 19/04/2015 21:16

Seen George Clooney a few times doing his stuff at press conferences but not within breath smelling range. Am Shock re dead rat breath! He is very kind to fans though - chatty, willing to have photos taken, sign his name.

So glad Robert Rinder lovely. There seems to be such a warmth to him on tv and despite his barbed tongue, he seems very caring and kind. Adore him and imagined him to be great fun and loyal.

Jill Murphy (5 Mins Peace, Worst Witch) is lovely. We were in the next cabin to her and her little boy, on a trip to see Santa in Lapland. dd had a HUGE thing about Worst Witch at the time, and had brought one of her books to read while we were away. Jill Murphy, when asked if she'd sign the book, draw a fabulous illustration of a bat too. She was really chatty throughout the trip and her little boy (who was about 4 or 5 at the time) adorable.

My brother was a stage hand at a theatre Bill Nighy was appearing in. Way before BN had hit the big time). Brother said he was so friendly and sweet and took my brother for a drink a few times. He said he was like an 'old mate'. Same brother was also in the same year at school as Pierre Marco White (or Peter White). He said he was a cocky little sod.

Lived next door to the woman who played Annie Sugden in Emmerdale, years ago. V haughty and queue pushing down the parade of local shops; very partial to her G&T, but as a neigbour was friendly. She once asked me if I'd go round to zip up her posh dress before she went to a 'do', as her husband was away. i went into her bedroom and felt very honoured to be her chambermaid!LOL

Marc Almond from Soft Cell, worked behind the bar at the theatre in Leeds before he hit the big time. V sweet and friendly lad.

Robert Vaughan (Man From Uncle) at a Sci Fi and tv fair). I bought a photo for him to sign for my brother who used to be a massive fan. I told RV how pleased bro would be with the photo as he used to love UNCLE so much. RV sort of grunted. I was v sad as wanted to be able to tell my brother how interested and nice he was.

Other encounters (Ian Hislop in same carriage on train to London; Peter Stringfellow at a weird little festival thing with Morris Dancers, in Kingston; Too fleeting to get any impression)

Have encountered Jimmy Saville many times as the turd lived locally. Was always obsessed with ''working' the room and being the centre of attention. Stared at dd when we were sat in a local cafe and tried to talk to her. dd showing insight beyond her years, wouldn't talk to him. She was very very shy though at the time, but I like to think she had a 'feeling' about that bastard.

BishopBrennansArse · 19/04/2015 21:21

ooh yeah - another work one - Dawn French on the phone
Not nice

BitOutOfPractice · 19/04/2015 21:23

I spent well over an hour in a car with Tony Benn and he was one of the nicest men I've ever met. Kind, funny and really listened to what I had to say so I'll have to disagree with you there Plom Sad

I also had dealing with him by correspindence when I was a history undergrad and again, he really went out of his way to help

Binkybix · 19/04/2015 21:28

Francis Maude - something worryingly attractive about him (shoot me now!)

You have got to be kidding! Makes my skin crawl in the flesh.

YouTheCat · 19/04/2015 21:31

Jacqueline Wilson came to the opening of the Seven Stories in Newcastle (which I was at with dd). She was absolutely lovely.

I can't think of any celebrities that I've met that weren't nice.

Robert Maschio (Dr Todd on Scrubs) was brilliant. He high fived everyone and was really good fun.

James Marsters was nice and chatty.

Garrett Wang (ensign Kim from Voyager) is amazing. He staged a lightsaber fight with Ray Park (Darth Maul) and even tweeted dd's friend as he was signing an autograph for him.

I used to serve beer to some local celebs - Jimmy Nail, Robson Greene, Tim Healy, Denise Welch - probably a few others. All fine and pleasant.

Bluestocking · 19/04/2015 21:31

I know a couple of people that worked with David Cameron back in his Carlton TV days and apparently he was awful - incredibly bad-tempered and shouty - and clearly right out of his depth.

Dawndonnaagain · 19/04/2015 21:31

Dd bumped into Russell Howard on a train, he asked her not to put it on social media as he was going to surprise his mum. Chatted to her on the way to London, learned a bit about AS and then talked footie with her. Was absolutely lovely.

Have seen Tony Robinson pull the 'do you know who I am'. Very disappointed.

BishopBrennansArse · 19/04/2015 21:32

Binky I know I thought that. When he doorstepped me he was reptilian with a really limp handshake. Ick.

Takver · 19/04/2015 21:33

Anthony Head aka Giles-from-Buffy - haven't met him myself, but he used to get a weekly veg box from a friend of mine. Friend said both he and his wife were very nice.

Dieu · 19/04/2015 21:34

Oh god, I LOVE Russell Howard. The goodness just radiates from him. I'd have eaten me hat if anyone had said he was an arse!

TheSpottedZebra · 19/04/2015 21:37

My brother works at a hospital in NYC , and because of his specialty, has mostly young and teen patients. They get quite a few stars in to do ward visits etc. The one he says is the nicest in a 'best with the kids' sense? Justin Bieber! Yes, I was quite surprised too.

Dawndonnaagain · 19/04/2015 21:37

Dieu Dd has Asperger Syndrome and is nervous travelling, he was wonderful and double checked her written instructions at Liverpool street to make sure she was fine. Was also very funny, apparently.

Dieu · 19/04/2015 21:39

That's lovely, Dawndonnaagain.

Musicaltheatremum · 19/04/2015 21:40

Robson Green sat next to my dad on a plane and helped him fasten his seatbelt as he had a broken hand at the time.

My husband had a holiday job as a luggage porter at Balmoral. Said all the royals were really lovely and that Diana asked him to dance as he was tall.

Daughter meets lots of people. She met Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint last year when she was working at the "what's on Stage awards" they were both lovely and Dan really appreciated her bending her knees when they had a photo taken. (He is 5'5 and she is 6' in heels) has also met David Walliams who was lovely too.

Never met Celia Imrie but my next door neighbour shared a flat with her once and I believe she is a scream.

toldmywrath · 19/04/2015 21:41

Alex Ferguson-very nice man & has time for everyone (I met him at a football match, would you believe?Grin )

MarthasChin · 19/04/2015 21:42

Anyone ever met Tom Hardy? Please tell me he's lovely!!!

dexter73 · 19/04/2015 21:45

Anthony Head gets about a bit! I was stuck on a train once and he was in the bit between carriages next to me. We were all having a good moan about the trains and he joined in quite enthusiastically. Very good looking and quite witty!
Also met Anthony Hopkins (nice), Kristen Scott-Thomas (lovely) and Nikki Chapman (also lovely).

Lime8 · 19/04/2015 21:46

Derren brown is just lovely. Gave us a hug after a show :) really seems to care about his fans

ghostyslovesheep · 19/04/2015 21:46

Jacqueline Wilson - oh yes she was really lovely

ditto Steve Backshall and, surprisingly, Tony Blair

YvetteChauvire · 19/04/2015 21:49

Nelson Mandela(as awesome as you'd imagine),
Nigella Lawson (surprised by her kindness),
