To think more outrage is needed over Tory threat to child benefit?

According to papers today Tory planned welfare cuts can't be achieved without further cuts to child benefit. George Osborne has refused to rule it out apparently. Such a cut would be massively controversial, hurt lower income families and is potentially politically toxic for the Tories. So why is no-one pushing them for a straight answer?

Also yet another policy that disproportionally disadvantages women the Tories really fucking hate women don't they! But the worst thing is that they get us fighting between each other I dispair Sad

HesBeenAVeryNaughtyBoy · 08/04/2015 21:47

*despair

BMW6 · 08/04/2015 21:48

The Tories only care about the rich and the grey vote

Bingo!

Smarterthantheaveragebeaver · 08/04/2015 21:48

I could afford my children before my ex walked out So not quite the same thing as popping out kids you know you cant feed then?

Emmaswan · 08/04/2015 21:49

Fed up - the problem does not lie with you or the Govt or the taxpayer.

It lies with a selfish feckless father who should be MADE to pay for the children he has fathered.

I know I'll be shot down in flames here but hell - no matter what may happen between my DH and I I know that he would always provide for the children as he love sthem and is their father. I know this . Did you not have an inkling that you'd married a selfish cunt?

TheFairyCaravan · 08/04/2015 21:49

Somone up thread said that Kate and Wills get CB. That is absolute bollocks, it was capped ages ago.

This thread is shocking. There ought to be more outrage at all the proposed benefit cuts that are being associated with the Tories.

They are absolute liars when they say we have no money left. Why then did they manage to give the millionaires a £43k tax cut? Why are they only going after £5bn of tax avoidance? Why did they waste money in the European Courts in order to protect the bankers' bonuses?

The children of this country didn't cause the global financial crisis, neither did the low paid, or the sick or the disabled. It'll be great to cut CB, David Cameron will be able to say he pushed more children in to poverty and forced more people to use foodbanks. What a legacy to have in 21st Century Britain.

HesBeenAVeryNaughtyBoy · 08/04/2015 21:50

Selfish cunts don't wear a sign good if they did though

verybluebananas · 08/04/2015 21:50

Little monsters rule, your last post sounds like you might be blaming me for the domestic violence which put me and my children, and blaming fedit for her husband's bad decisions. No doubt we should have seen it coming, right?

Sometimes there seriously is no indication.

I was insured against every scenario I could think of. But I didn't think my husband would turn violent and that I would lose my job because of it. I don't think the signs were there before we had the children.

fedupbutfine · 08/04/2015 21:50

I could afford my children before my ex walked out So not quite the same thing as popping out kids you know you cant feed then?

but the policy would treat me exactly the same as if I had 'popped out kids knowing I couldn't feed them'.

MaryWithoutMungoAndMidge · 08/04/2015 21:52

They should abolish it IMO. You don't have children to claim benefits.

samsam123 · 08/04/2015 21:53

just get rid of it why should you get 'paid' for having a child. if you cant afford to have one then tough

fedupbutfine · 08/04/2015 21:54

I know I'll be shot down in flames here but hell - no matter what may happen between my DH and I I know that he would always provide for the children as he love sthem and is their father. I know this . Did you not have an inkling that you'd married a selfish cunt?

oh do fuck off. You haven't got a fucking clue. Not one fucking clue.

And your husband would support his children? I'd have said exactly the same.

Same old shite. Blame the people who have done absolutely everything they can to protect themselves from the unexpected and yet when the unexpected happened, it's their fault. Maybe the person who got run over by a bus and became permanently disabled as a result should have been in a car, driving themselves, not walking on the pavement and crossing a road on a pelican crossing?

RufusTheReindeer · 08/04/2015 21:55

emma

One of the best quotes I ever heard re marriage breakups was on here, I will have to paraphrase

"None of us marry selfish cunts, they just turn into selfish cunts when the marriage ends"

The first two paragraphs of your post were good Emma - shame you didn't just leave it there!

FWIW you don't know at all, and it's wise not to assume you do.

MaryWithoutMungoAndMidge · 08/04/2015 21:58

Just get rid of it why should you get 'paid' for having a child. if you cant afford to have one then tough

Completely agree.

BMW6 · 08/04/2015 21:59

They are absolute liars when they say we have no money left.

Then so are Labour - they said that 5 years ago....

HesBeenAVeryNaughtyBoy · 08/04/2015 21:59

I bet the same people saying stop having children are also secret UKIP sympathizers who want immigration. Do the maths!

HesBeenAVeryNaughtyBoy · 08/04/2015 22:00

*dont want

Plonkysaurus · 08/04/2015 22:01

fedup I completely agree with you.

Cuts like this are hurting the wrong people. And I agree with pp who said the tories obviously hate women and the young.

emmaswan I'd love a look on your crystal ball some time. You're so lucky to brevet have the misfortune of someone you trust being an arse to you and your kids.

Is this going to lead us back to families staying together when they'd rather be apart? Because they can't afford to split?

DrLego · 08/04/2015 22:02

wow blaming those who are single parents is really grim. what if the, let's say father but could be mother, was abusive and violent in front of or even to the children? DV can happen in the most well heeled households with the most charming characters, and can appear all of a sudden perhaps in pregnancy or later. The mother leaves and what, it's her fault she had child with such a useless father? what if the father dies? what if they are made redundant? what if a tragic event occurs? what if the father was an alcoholic years before, but relapses, loses his job and income and the mother leaves the situation? no matter what, the child or children should have some very basic help. £20 a week for milk and some food may not come from anywhere else, even with an apparently lovely father in a well educated household. Basic humanity.

LePetitMarseillais · 08/04/2015 22:03

Pretty sure the ones saying get rid are the ones with tiny mortgages or bigger wages.

If not I do hope they're not in receipt of tax credits as that may be a tad hypocritical.

Bowlersarm · 08/04/2015 22:04

It's nothing to do with stop having children HasBeen, don't be disingenuous

HesBeenAVeryNaughtyBoy · 08/04/2015 22:06

Really I'm pretty sure many pp have said just stop having children if you can't afford it

People circumstances change

Littlemonstersrule · 08/04/2015 22:07

Nobody is saying stop having children, just that the state should stop paying for that choice. People should be free to have as many as they wish providing they alone support them.

There would be so much less arguing if it was all abolished and everyone was treated the same.
