Could I vote UKIP.... if it would regenerate my town?

We have a failing town, the last bank has left, we still have a post office, and a couple of other shops, and there is a little car park there, where they charge you as soon as you get there.

We (me and my friends) think that if it was free for a couple of hours we would go in and get stuff, maybe go to one of the cafes there, but no, as we can get free parking in the nearest (slightly bigger) town, we just go there.

I was talking to a local shop owner who is up for election on the local council - he said he wants to sort the parking, but cannot run on the lib/green/lab/cons side as they are all in the 'keep parking charges' for various reasons. He said he is going in as UKIP as he would never get in as an independant. I dont think i could bring myself to vote UKIP though....

I kind of understand where daffs is coming from - immigration has gotten out of control and is much higher than anticipated when we had an open door policy. However, for a long time it seems that people aren't allowed to comment on it for fear of being called racist so UKIP speak volumes to a lot of people as a party who are willing to deal with immigration.

There are also sections of the population who want to fight against the British way of life, like the case in Birmingham where schools were being taken over by extremists in order to promote their ideology.

Having said all that, I believe these things are whipped into a media frenzy and the majority of immigrants benefit our country, indeed without them we would have been in trouble.

I'm glad you're not a plant, daffs! Grin

Found it a fitting name for spring Grin oh and they are my favourite two flowers. I did leave knowing how such a thread can get. I genuinely am not here to offend.

Grantaire, a bit infected. Ouch! Thanks for asking.
It's literally worse than childbirth.

UncertainSmile when you can show us a photo of yourself with an orange shoved successfully up your nostril, we shall applaud. Until then...

WTF is a UKIPER? Has there been an outbreak of UKIPING?

Amazing what I miss when I got to bed at a reasonable hour.

thewomaninwhitefluffybunnyears · 08/04/2015 21:23

Surely it should be Ukipping with two ks. Perhaps not. Was bloody amazing though and I am too enlightened about US :) I am not enlightened about UKIP policies though, too much name calling and frothing as another poster called it.

thewomaninwhitefluffybunnyears · 08/04/2015 21:23

Two ps, agh! That will teach me. I should just give up tonight :)

NoPsipsinaChocolateOrange · 08/04/2015 21:58

Ah. I go to bed early too but it was all still there in its glory at about 7am. That is the trick...early bird and all that Easter Smile

Ouch Uncertain. Are you on decent antibiotics? I think there is too much pressure on men to bounce back after a vasectomy. Like any surgery, sometimes it's straightforward and recovery is easy. Sometimes it is complicated. DH had an infection immediately post surgery and it was not a pretty sight. His thighs and abdomen were black and blue and things were very swollen for quite some time. Keep an eye on it. DH's problems rumbled on and he was hospitalised with epididymo-orchitis after a few weeks and it really hampered recovery. I took quite a lot of offence on his behalf when the women in our joint families implied he should man up and get on with it because it's nothing compared to having babies. I've had two emergency caesareans and still don't think my recovery was a patch on the problems dh had post vasectomy.

Daffs, don't take offence at people thinking you're a plant Grin. It does happen around election time. I can't wait. They're usually marked out by a refusal or inability to discuss actual policy, vague statements about you'll see and we know the truth and strange self-congratulatory posts about the other parties taking note. I'm ambivalent towards them. Sometimes the fallout is awful, sometimes it's amusing. Only a few weeks to go.
