She seems so genuine and actually seemed to care. She came across as strong though which means she is pm material.

Ps I know its impossible but we all have hopes.

She provides for those in Scotland through the Barnett formula, which gives people in Scotland more money per head than those in England, and paid for by all UK taxes. Even Barnett has agreed this is wrong!

Of course she only cares about Scotland...which may be admirable in her eyes, but not so good for the majority in the UK.

queensansastark · 04/04/2015 15:22

I think Scotland should get the independence it wishes for so that we could all be done with it, as long as they don't then start flooding through the South of their border or scapegoat or even start a war with England if/when it all goes pear shaped.

But they vote mostly SNP which drives for independence. Wasn't there some poll after the referendum that said that based on people s sentiments, people would vote differently and the results would be a different one.

Chippednailvarnish · 04/04/2015 15:34

I have I missed something here? Scotland voted to stay as part of the UK, there is no saying that it wishes for independence, as the majority didn't.

Confused

or even start a war with England if/when it all goes pear shaped Grin

Bannochburn revisited, OP?

SomethingFunny · 04/04/2015 15:41

I know what you mean. I think it's a shame that the Labour Party couldn't a) be more left wing b) actually believe passionately in things c) have a leader, like Nicola, who you could actually believe in.

Yes she cares about Scotland, about getting things for scotland and independance. But she is the leader of the Scotish National party, if she didn't do all these things then she and the party would be pretty rubbish.

Agree with it or not, the SNP wants Scottish Independance and doesn't try and pretend anything different, unlike the other parties (Conservatives, Labour Lim Dems) who will say anything to gain power and don't seem to have strong beliefs and values anymore - they are all just obsessed with getting power and big business.

Bettercallsaul1 · 04/04/2015 15:42

Sorry, that should have been queensansastark!

queensansastark · 04/04/2015 15:45

The world is becoming a more and more unpredictable place...and my paranoid/ imagination is at play ....Grin

ReallyTired · 04/04/2015 15:46

Nicola is clearly talented, but I feel that she would be rather bemused at the idea of bring PM for the whole of the UK. She has as about as much interest in the welfare of England, Wales and Northern ireland as in the wellbeing of Brazil.

queensansastark · 04/04/2015 15:48

On the contrary, I think she would be very interested in the rest of the uk being subservient and milk them as much as she could for scottish interests.

"The secret of success is sincerity; once you can fake that, you've made it"

Sturgeon has NAILED this; I just cannot believe that so many people have fallen for the SNP's hyperbole.

It is NOT about scotland, it is about their own, personal empowerment - it is a cult. They only appear to be doing well in Scotland as 1. they have not been there long enough to be judged and 2. they STILL get away with blaming the English for everything.

They are a terrible, terrible party; sturgeon and salmond are nasty, dangerous people, but sadly loads of people are following this cult in this misguided belief they will improve their lives. It's just terrifying.

Ps I hate UKIP with equal vigour.

manicinsomniac · 04/04/2015 15:52

YABU - a Biritish Prime Minister who doesn't want to be part of Britain - ridiculous. Yes, she's a great public speaker. So are/were lots of less than desirable leaders.

WhatAaBalaklava can you tell us what makes her so "dangerous and nasty"

I'm no SNP supporter but some of these descriptions if her sound ridiculous. Hmm

queensansastark · 04/04/2015 15:54

My point is, twiggy tape, if they have another referendum now or in a year s time, or some time in the future, it is probable that the uk will break up.

Agree with Baklava...about them successfully blaming England / west minister for everything.

Bakeoffcake · 04/04/2015 15:56
Shock

"ONe of those mean and hard little faces that a lot of Scottish women seem to have".

What a disgusting thing to say.

takemeuptheeiffeltower · 04/04/2015 15:57

If somebody showed me a photo of her, out of thousands of women, I could say straight away,
This woman is from Scotland.

Is all. It's not being mean. I've heard lots of people say the same thing.

Bettercallsaul1 · 04/04/2015 15:58

She has one of those mean and hard little faces that a lot of Scottish women seem to have.

Good to know that on MN women aren't being judged on their appearance. (quite apart from insulting a whole nation)

UnoPan · 04/04/2015 16:00

I don't think NS is as narrow, bitter, nor as dim, as a few people appear to be on this thread. The future prosperity of Scotland is intertwined with that of the UK - independence would not have meant England being sliced off and set sail across the North Sea.
As for the unpleasant highly personalised comments about her appearance - it;s lucky so many MNers seem to be utter godesses themselves.

LaLyra · 04/04/2015 16:00

Why do so many people say 'I wish they could have got what they wanted' re Scottish Independence?

They did.

The wishes of the 55% are not irrelevant just because the 45% are louder.

Bettercallsaul1 · 04/04/2015 16:01

That is not an argument you have there, takemeup, just a prejudice.

Bakeoffcake · 04/04/2015 16:01

Takeme you just sound like a goady twat.

Best ignored I imagine.

takemeuptheeiffeltower · 04/04/2015 16:01

I don't like the look of Farage either.
Is that better?

Whether you like it or not, fair or not, people are judged by their looks.
Some people look more trust worthy nd open than others.

It's not fair, but it's life.
