To wonder why there has STILL been no donation?

This has probably been done, I know there was a long running thread about this very subject but I can't find it?
So, several months on I see Dax's parents have still not made the promised donation to Ronald McDonald hospice. On March 2nd they updated the Facebook page to say they works be making the donation 'very soon', but still nothing.
Am I the only one thinking they have no intention of donating any money out of the tens of thousands donated to them? That in fact they intend to keep it all and deny the very charity that provided them with so much support in the early weeks of their Childs life?
In fact, I don't think im the only one judging by the comments on the Facebook page.
I think they're hoping it will blow over and if they keep quiet long enough people will forget.

that's awful

lougle · 29/03/2015 20:12

If there's a donation, I'll eat my hat.

kewtogetin · 29/03/2015 20:13

Alpaca, it was a family friend who originally set up the page but the parents posted on there on March 2nd saying they had been busy etc etc but we're going to make a donation 'very soon'.....

Yeah lougle I completely agree.

kewtogetin · 29/03/2015 20:14

If you go on Facebook and enter 'Dax's tale of new York' you'll see the page

I can't believe they would just keep all that money, raised by the public when the public genuinely believed their insurance company would not pay up. The insurance has paid up, including a private jet to fly then home so I can see I reason they would 'need' this money.

Because they're a pair of crooks?

seaoflove · 29/03/2015 20:20

Because they've successfully pulled off a massive scam. Proves the danger of a crowdfunding campaign going viral, I guess.

seriouslypeedoff · 29/03/2015 20:21

This was ridiculous from the get go. Their friend started asking for money within a day or two, the insurance company had told them they would probably be covered, but they were waiting for confirmation. He asked for money to pay medical bills, living expenses, a fridge and appliances for wherever they would end up staying, flights to the US for their family to visit and their bills here in the UK.

The guy kept changing what they wanted money for. It took a backlash on the fb page and the go fund me page before he finally admitted the insurance were covering the bills, same again when it came out they were being provided with an apartment, eventually decided the money wouldn't be paying for flights. Then they said its was being donated.

I personally think their friend was hoping for some publicity for the gym he owned (where the father worked) and also saw it as a money making opportunity.

I thought it was dodgy from the start. To be honest go fund me is breeding ground for people trying to manipulate money out of people.

londonrach · 29/03/2015 20:22

There wont be a donation. We all know that! I feel for poor dax, having parents like that!

seriouslypeedoff · 29/03/2015 20:23

At no point did the insurance company even hint they weren't going to pay. The page was set up before the paperwork was even complete.

hiddenhome · 29/03/2015 20:26

They're opportunists. I hope the papers find out. All the donators should be given their money back.

leccybill · 29/03/2015 20:39

Have just revisited their page. Def looks like they are waiting for it to blow over so they can keep the money.

Littlemonstersrule · 29/03/2015 20:46

People giving to a non charity are always open to risk.

When the child is old enough to read for himself, they can decide for themselves their own view of their parents and associates.

SolidGoldBrass · 29/03/2015 20:54

Hmph. I'd call it an object lesson for sentimental, gullible bucketheads who are overinvested in social media.

StackladysMorphicResonator · 29/03/2015 20:55

Scum. They are scum. Using a premature baby to raise money for their own purposes is disgustingly selfish.

TheFairyCaravan · 29/03/2015 21:01

They never had any intention of making a donation. It was obvious from the get go that they were out to make as much money as they could. Why else would they have turned down all offers from people who were offering to take clothes etc out to them?

They are a pair of vile scammers as is Tricky Dicky. I predict the Fb page will be updated in the next couple of days, though, it was last time there was a thread like this.

thehumanjam · 29/03/2015 21:03

Why on earth did people donate? It wasn't a worthy cause to begin with.

seaoflove · 29/03/2015 21:06

I agree it wasn't particularly worthy. But the parents told a good sob story about needing to buy "everything" for Dax, like they hadn't before considered the need to buy a cot/buggy, etc.

And what SGB said, basically.

TheFairyCaravan · 29/03/2015 21:08

Yes, they did say they needed "everything for Dax" Sea. Then once he was home from hopsital and they did an exclusive with the Fail they said they had it all ready before they went to NYC!

Cariad007 · 29/03/2015 21:14

I don't get it. He was premature but it's not like she had no idea she was pregnant and suddenly went into labour! Surely they had some money set aside to buy baby things? If they could afford business class tickets to New York, they could afford a pram and a cot.

fatlazymummy · 29/03/2015 21:33

Of course they could afford a pram and a cot. You can buy those things for very little in places like babies r us. I'm sure their family and friends would have bought things like clothes and nappies for them.
They definitely sound like opportunists to me.
