To wonder why there has STILL been no donation?

This has probably been done, I know there was a long running thread about this very subject but I can't find it?
So, several months on I see Dax's parents have still not made the promised donation to Ronald McDonald hospice. On March 2nd they updated the Facebook page to say they works be making the donation 'very soon', but still nothing.
Am I the only one thinking they have no intention of donating any money out of the tens of thousands donated to them? That in fact they intend to keep it all and deny the very charity that provided them with so much support in the early weeks of their Childs life?
In fact, I don't think im the only one judging by the comments on the Facebook page.
I think they're hoping it will blow over and if they keep quiet long enough people will forget.

Surely this is criminal fraud?

Oldraver · 01/04/2015 11:54

Apparently they should keep the money,........'For when hes older!! Myb he mty want 2 travel bk 2 new york or go 2 uni + things lik tht dont come easy'

TheFairyCaravan · 01/04/2015 11:56

Don't be so sure about the Fail, they did a story when Dax came home. They knew how the public felt because the comments were horrendous when the fundraising was first reported in the paper at Christmas.

Most national papers have been tweeted, they're not interested.

Samcro · 01/04/2015 11:57

i am surprised that people are surprised. you give money to a stranger to help a stranger.recipe to be scammed

stillwearingaredribbon · 01/04/2015 11:59

The mail often kicks it all off
It would overlook all those poor folk sleeping under bridges and fill its pages with the sad, middle class faces of the scheming pair who claimed they were living at Heathrow
Even if you believed it the story was about a very wealthy couple who made stupid business decisions
Money poured in for those crooks too
How can people be taken in by this crap

shewept · 01/04/2015 12:10

A load of people tried to get other newspapers involved over the Heathrow couple. No one wanted to know. I get the impression the other papers don't particularly want to out the DM, for some reason.

shewept · 01/04/2015 12:27

Oh and thanks chipped . I have to say I don't agree with mnhq on that, but not much you can do I suppose. At the end of the day facts are facts. Their friend asked for money for things that were already bought or covered, they promised the money to charity and haven't given it to the charity. I don't see how anyone can support it tbh.

Cariad007 · 01/04/2015 13:37

There was someone on the previous thread who was tweeting various media outlets about this but I don't think she got very far.

Nix01 · 01/04/2015 14:23

Perhaps I'm naive but wouldn't these things take awhile. They'd need to collect all the pledges, then audit the amounts they spent, presume some kind of hmrc clearance and then donate (in between caring for a premature newborn).

MNpostingbot · 01/04/2015 14:26

Solidgoldbrass has this right.

I don't condone what's been done, but I have no sympathy for anyone who read a Facebook page and sent money to a non-charity registered individual.

It's the same moronic behaviour that has thousands signing petitions on subjects they have done no more research on than reading a 3 line Facebook post. sheep mentality.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 06/04/2015 17:52

On a prematurity support page on Facebook there's just been a post saying a fund set up by a friend has had all the money taken out of it and none to the couple and their baby. This is completely unrelated to Dax etc, but just another warning to be careful with crowd funding. Very sad.

trufflesnout · 06/04/2015 17:56

Just been deleted, again! What the fuck is going on.

bendybrickpumpkinpatch · 06/04/2015 18:00

do they have a go fund me page ? I can't find it.

bendybrickpumpkinpatch · 06/04/2015 18:03

according to a bbc news report in January they said they would refund the money to those who felt " misled". hmmmmm wonder if anyone got a refund ?

Their has been a new post on the Facebook page stating that a donation will be made next week!! And a snarky 'thanks for your concern'!

LittleIda · 06/04/2015 21:18

Look forward to seeing the confirmation next week!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/04/2015 21:19

Will believe it when I see it

kewtogetin · 06/04/2015 21:20

More posts deleted asking about the donation....

Surely this is criminal fraud?

Borderline, but I think the original wording was too vague to charge the friend with fraud by false representation.

In criminal terms, it just walks the right side of "incompetent" rather than "obviously dishonest". I would be making a hefty donation to RMH sharpish if I were them though....

I completely agree with SGB - people that live through facebook fall for complete scam.

Hmmm..... more deletions

RebootYourEngine · 06/04/2015 22:31
