DH putting his image before baby's comfort

I know this isn't really a big deal, but I want to figure out if IABU to be a bit annoyed at DH or is it just pg hormones?
PFB due imminently and we hadn't got a sling. I'd read loads of reviews and really wanted to get an Amawrap as it sounds great to use and comfortable and comforting for baby.
However, yesterday DH said he'd point blank refuse to carry baby in a wrap style sling because it's not "manly" enough and would only be seen wearing baby in a black, rucksack style carrier with straps etc. (Wasn't even joking one bit!)
So I ordered a Baby Bjorn and didn't mind at the time but now feel Angry and Sad as I've read reviews and looked at pics and just don't think it sounds or looks as comfy for baby, and we can't afford to buy a wrap style sling as well so that's it now. And I'm partly annoyed at myself for agreeing to the Bjorn when actually DH works so much I'll be the one carrying baby anyway.
AIBU to think that DH is actually a bit childish? Hmm

When you've got 3 under 3 it's much better having one in a sling than forking out for a triple buggy/tank!

They're great for bringing kids on walks; beaches, woods, parks, cities, cobblestone villages with naff all pavement.

Give the Bjorn a try, you might like it! It should be comfortable with a newborn, just make sure the cross bit is always centre of back as it's bloody painful when it's a bit off.

Good luck & hope the next two weeks fly by uno

Return the babybjorn and get another sling. Babybjorn is not well made. Won't last long. And probably put you off using a sling.
But don't worry about your husband. Mine was particular about which sling he used.

return the bjorn and get a manduca, looks like a bjorn type but is comfortable, ergonomic, will last you into toddlerhood for back carries etc and can be used from birth without fiddly inserts. converts most men does a manduca.

dh was a bit Hmm about slings and couldn't wrap at all, uncoordinated thing that he is. He ended up with a plain blue cotton ring sling.

I've had all sorts of carriers and if I was limited to one I admit it would not be a wrap type - I love them but only for the first couple of months.

I don't like the baby bjorn either, as it is quite limited (and not great either for your back or for the baby's hips), but there are many others that are better and have more durability than a wrap.

My personal favourite was the Beco Gemini, you can if you want use it just like a baby bjorn, as a backpack or whatever.

Personally I find that the Amawrap is actually quite expensive for what it is, you should be able to get a wrap type sling for much less than that (maybe second hand?). After all, they are used for such a short time...

Dh used any and every carrier I bought (I didn't go for pink and flowery, in fairness), but he had quite a lot of trouble with wrap type ones, I had to tie them for him every time.

Bjorns aren't great for the baby's back, and they are quite uncomfortable anyway.

FWIW, I hated the wrap myself, but both DH and I loved the Ergo. Properly comfortable, even with quite a big child, so excellent value for money and ticks all your DH's "manly" boxes. And we make a LOT of baby kit decisions based on image - prams are the big ones for this - so why shouldn't he express an opinion about the style of carrier he wants for babywearing? I thought you were going to say he won't push the pram or wear a carrier at all.

DH felt that the carrier was manlier than the pram, btw.

There is no way on earth my dh will contemplate a sling or carrier. Tbh, the image of him carrying our baby in one just makes me laugh. He'd look a right twat, we both agree in that. Pick your battles op. Return the bb, get a sling you like and let him choose when the baby is here.

Hate to disagree Gwlondon, but I think the Baby Bjorn is very well made. Mine is the Miracle carrier version which adjusts loads of different ways so you can quickly transfer the weight if you've been wearing it a while. It's 3rd hand, has been through the wash countless times and still looks as good as new. Most importantly, dd loves going in it.

We originally bought a Caboo, but really didn't get on with it so sold it on.

Also, my DH wouldn't have worn the Caboo either, and he's not a dick!
