Neighbour won't give me my parcel!

I've problems with this neighbour before over parking.

She's had a parcel of mine since Wednesday last week and I know she is in but she is refusing to open the door. Wibu if I knocked the door down? It's a present I need to give to someone on Saturday.

Buy five cheap tops. Write the letters T U C N on them with fabric paint. Arrange thoughtfully on clothesline.

BinarySolo · 31/03/2015 21:46

Just ploughed through all 3 threads. Your neighbour's a nutter.

I think you need to keep a diary. Is there a community police clinic you can go to? I think the police might be more responsive if local and face to face rather than calling 101.

whoreandpeace · 31/03/2015 22:59

It might be worth talking to your local Citizens Advice Bureau and get their advice on neighbour problems esp if you think this is just the start. If they take your case on they will write the letters for you (not sure if there are costs?). You will need to go armed with dates of events and evidence (your photo) and perhaps your receipt from the jumper co.

swazza · 31/03/2015 23:21

In all seriousness I think I would ignore but log for now!

Don't rise to it at all. That way she may get bored (hopefully) but log everything (photos where possible), times, dates names of others involved etc.

Then if she goes proper bat shit crazy one day - you can produce a record of her nutty antics!

ScrambledSmegsMP · 01/04/2015 11:30

Have you been documenting her behaviour? Apart from on here, of course.

If, as you suspect, she has MH problems then a record of incidents may help as background. Or, if she is just vindictive and a bad neighbour, it can help you get the relevant authorities involved.

And do discuss with your local CAB (if they still exist) they may be able to offer advice.

whoreandpeace · 01/04/2015 13:24

Sounds like she needs an ASBO

whoreandpeace · 01/04/2015 13:24

Do they still exist? Asbos?

Jacana · 01/04/2015 13:30

ASBOs certainly exist round here.

Spadequeen · 01/04/2015 16:57

Omg. How on earth did I miss the updates, she really has lost the plot.

Nanny, just ignore her but any future purchases you make, ensure you write do not leave with nutty neighbour.

DakotaFanny · 01/04/2015 21:06

DakotaFanny · 01/04/2015 21:07

500 glitter bombs...that'll teach her!

birdbrain21 · 01/04/2015 21:19

Goodness just read this thread this lady sounds crazy, I'm suddenly thankful for my grumpy neighbours (in a block of flats) who complained when my daughter was ill and up all night crying, like I wasn't trying to get her to sleep Hmm please can someone post to the thread about the parking I missed that!!

Jacana · 01/04/2015 21:55

birdbrain this nutter lady made it into Classics, a fitting place perhapsShock title, I think, something like 'AIBU about this lady in my parking space' something like that. It's on p.1. Sorry can't link.

Enjoy!Grin

I would log everything and report to the police.

We have a similarly mad NDN, he started off with smaller incidents and then atacked my Dh in the garden one day in front of our DCs. We reported him to the police who asked if DH wanted to press charges for assault; DH said no as didn't want to up the ante with mad neighbour; possibly a mistake as mad neighbour then told our landlord that WE had assaulted him and tried to get us made homeless. Luckily, we'd kept landlord updated with the whole thing (and he'd been hassling landlord's staff and contractors, so they knew he was batshit) but if he'd got his way, we would have lost our home over it. V stressful.

IME, batshit neighbours don't suddenly turn sane - if she's doing this now, there is a danger of escalation. You need to log EVERYTHING and with the police and she needs to know you're doing this. I would ask the police to come round and give her an official warning.

The police advised us not to engage with mad NDN AT ALL - I look the other way if I see him coming. Seriously, it's not worth inflaming it but you need to stay safe. People who deliberately nick jumpers, deny it and then flaunt it are clearly not right in the head.

Jacana · 02/04/2015 10:10

I don't want to go into the details of my ex- NFH but I can confirm that you can call into your police station and have an informal one-to-one with an officer but anything they do or not do will be with your agreement. That was my experience.

Important thing for you, I reckon, is to get everything logged. I really don't believe that this will be the last 'incident' and I'm guessing you don't, too.

When I eventually went to the police station about him I remember pulling up in the carpark still in disbelief I was actually there.Previously the only time in my life I'd been in a police station was when my car got sideswiped by a stolen vehicle doing a million miles an hour on a lazy Sunday morning and I needed a crime no. for the insurance.

Talking to them about NFH was the best thing, they were already primed for the escalation later....Shock

BerylStreep · 03/04/2015 16:45

I think you need to speak to the police about this now. The keeping the parcel coupled with putting the jumper on the line are starting to look like harassment. Police might give her a harassment warning.

Has she bought or does she rent?

Groovester · 03/04/2015 17:04

Agree with others saying to keep a log complete with dates and times (and pics too.)
Our previous neighbour tried to sue us pretending that a fall she's had, had happened on our property. Thankfully witnesses saw what really happened.
We moved house. Best decision ever.

Rosieliveson · 03/04/2015 17:08

This lady does sound crazy. I would disengage with her completely. Make it clear in any future deliveries etc that they aren't to go there and start a movement with the other neighbours to have all parking spaces numbered.
I think she is trying to antagonise you by putting the jumper on the line. Don't rise to it.

RealHousewifeOfSheffield · 03/04/2015 17:43

You need to get this delivered to you (obvs you'll not be in, so she will take it in and open it)

Neighbour won't give me my parcel!
