Outrageous salad bar behaviour.

There is a really good salad bar at my work canteen. I went there today and there was a nice looking Greek salad type thing consisting of feta cheese, cucumber chunks, tomatoes and green and black olives.
The woman in front of me stood there for literally ten minutes and meticulously removed all the feta cheese and olives leaving just tomatoes and cucumber chunks into her pot and walked over to the till.
Surely this isn't OK?

YANBU

WorraLiberty · 23/03/2015 15:34

I suppose it must be ok if the person on the till didn't say anything?

literally 10 minutes though?

No way would I have waited that long before saying something to her

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 23/03/2015 15:35

YANBU. Although I'm sure someone will come along who thinks it's perfectly fine, this being the parallel universe of MN and all Wink.

ShatnersBassoon · 23/03/2015 15:38

You should have told her to leave some for you.

Theas18 · 23/03/2015 15:40

I'll have her feta and olives !

WorraLiberty · 23/03/2015 15:41

I have to say I do love your thread title OP

I don't know why it keeps making me smile, no matter how many times I read it Grin Thanks

mrsruffallo · 23/03/2015 15:42

THea- she took the feta and olives I think

nochocolateforlentteacake · 23/03/2015 15:42

mmmmmm, feta cheese and olives... Actually Id object to the tomatoes going. I don't like cucumbers, but I don't pick them out of salads though.

Janethegirl · 23/03/2015 15:43

I'd pick out the feta cheese. Foul stuff Grin

Discopanda · 23/03/2015 15:44

YANBU, what she ate was not a Greek salad, it was a travesty!!!

Stinkylinky · 23/03/2015 15:44

If someone took all the feta cheese that I wanted, I would not be held responsible for my actions.

cococandyfloss · 23/03/2015 15:44

YABU for not saying to her-excuse me can you leave some for me please....unless of course you weren't planning on having the salad and it would have been a bit more awkward but still a valid annoyance!

Chillyegg · 23/03/2015 15:45

Did she do this with her fingers? Or is she an excellent salad tongue user? Either way yanbu, id certainly of eye rolled, not tapped my shoe but certainly a little dry cough might of happened.

Roussette · 23/03/2015 15:46

What a cheek! I would have said something like "scoose me, but I want GREEK salad which has feta and olives in it! Do you mind...' and taken the serving spoon from her hand whilst smiling inanely...

AndyWarholsOrange · 23/03/2015 15:46

Sorry, just to clarify, she took all the olives and cheese and left the tomato and cucumber. I'm still seething 3 hours later.

What a twat.

Totally unacceptable. I'd start thinking up some kind of revenge.

RandomNPC · 23/03/2015 15:54

I'd have had a canteen meltdown, like they do in Orange Is The New Black

derxa · 23/03/2015 16:54

YABU Very reasonable people will be along very soon to say that you are extremely impatient or ... this woman has serious mental issues e.g. OCD which you should have been aware of or... you are very greedy to want feta cheese and olives or... feta cheese and olives contain too much fat or... tomatoes and cucumber are a perfectly sufficient lunch.

Boofy27 · 23/03/2015 16:54

That really is fucking outrageous; if she ever does it again, nip her with the tongs.

keepsmiling2015 · 23/03/2015 16:57

10 minutes? There must've been a backlog of ppl waiting. Why not say something to her?

ilovesooty · 23/03/2015 16:57

Why would you be seething 3 hours later? Just call the cheeky cow on it next time.

corgiology · 23/03/2015 17:07

I would be so grateful as I hate both feta and olives but love tomatoes and cucumber :)

comingintomyown · 23/03/2015 17:12

Jesus that is fucking outrageous

I used to work on a deli counter with a salad bar and watch in amazement at people piling their little boxes waaaay higher than the rim then try and force on the lid and be surprised when it wouldn't close. Then they would ask me for a bag to put it in because the box wouldn't close. I hated that job.

TheRealMaryMillington · 23/03/2015 17:19

Terrible salad bar etiquette

She should have taken a dollop and left what she didn't want on her plate

Of course she could be allergic to tomatoes and cucumber intolerant and making a protest at the obvious lack of thoughtfulness to people on her special diet.

TheFecklessFairy · 23/03/2015 17:21

I'll have the feta - wonderful stuff Grin
