I've spent today getting quotes for my family of 5 to spend two weeks in Spain/Italy/Greece/Turkey. I'm astounded by how much it costs to spend a fortnight away. Mark Warner quoted me over £10k for s fortnight in their cheapest resort!!!

So where are you going and how much are you paying for flights plus accommodation?

Coconutry do share...

I'm not sure Ai is worth a grand to me
It doesn't cost us a grand with a bit.of self catering and a bit of eating out.

Had a look at a holiday village deal in June out of curiosity from this thread though. Ai for 4 in one resort was 1300 and from local airport and including transfers...Surely that can't be done cheaper?

G1raffe · 10/04/2016 19:52

Ooh zoo watermark sounds fun....!!

G1raffe · 10/04/2016 19:54

We want to go to snowdonia and Barcelona and thinking cottagey holiday in Cornwall again.

Still curious about package holiday though as never done one before!

pandarific · 10/04/2016 19:58

Buttercupsandaisies you don't need to book a package to book an AI though - you can book the flights and the hotel AI separately and save loooooads doing this. I love a good AI, a nice one you can save lots of money.

pandarific · 10/04/2016 20:01

G1raffe I can have a go for you - I'm a massive holiday nerd. Grin Where/how many/how long for/what budget?

Buttercupsandaisies · 10/04/2016 20:01

I think it's more what you get at an AI or hotel package - often they have great kids facilities, free water park etc. Last year we paid £1800 for family of four to Majorca AI (August) will free water park access unlimited for the week. I'd have never have got that booking separately - spent £150 in a week! Though I admit I've now tired of AI having done it for years but for me half board and SC are definitely dearer

30k to Argentina and Uruguay at Christmas

Shock what are you planning to do there, buy a house?

We're going to London (from Brazil) flights were £1000 for adult and 2 kids. Accommodation free with DM. We're going to Argentina in July with DF but he's paying as his pound goes a lot further. That's not summer either.

minipie · 10/04/2016 20:12

£3k for a week in Greece - jolly expensive but tis may half term, villa with private pool (and a communal shared pool too) and that also includes half days of kids club for 3yo and 1yo.

£700 for 2 weeks in france - flights for the 4 of us, staying in family owned holiday place in france so no accom cost.

Tywinlannister · 10/04/2016 20:28

I am really shocked at some of these prices. We went to Cyprus last year for 2 weeks - family of three - for £2000 including spending money. Villa was £600, flights £1000.

We did Jersey previously for £600, and Dorset for £350. Always in school holiday time. I never pick AI, just HB or self catering. I can't imagine spending more than £3000 tbh Shock

isseywithcats · 10/04/2016 20:35

we are going on our motorbike for a fortnight to the black forest in germany and austria so far travel costs and hotels £1400 thats just for two of us, breakfasts sorted but still need spending money and evening meal money so will probably be nearer£2500 total

annandale · 10/04/2016 20:39

£475 for a weekend in Boulogne for 3 via the Shuttle Shock

Am looking forward to it though. Decided not to take the tent and to stay in town, hence the cost.

A week in Rome next year by train, planning for £1150.

Rushyswife · 10/04/2016 20:46

Family of 4
6k for 2 weeks in Mark Warner Rhodes in June

£5k to Corsica for a week in August (also MW)
We are doing centre parcs which is £550 I think and I did a cheap week in Tenerife in Jan (flights were air miles and accomodation was about £400 for the week.)

cocochanel21 · 10/04/2016 20:53

This is definitely a one off. DH and I are going to New York later this year. It's costing 20k. After a shit year DH booked it as a surprise for my birthday.

Xmasbaby11 · 10/04/2016 21:05

20k for new York?! That will be some awesome holiday! We went for a week and it cost about 2500. Would love to go again with money!

cheerup · 10/04/2016 21:09

7 nights eurocamp in France May half term self drive via Portsmouth ferry - £600 plus petrol and minimal spending money. 16 nights in Tuscany in August - 2 nights hotel and 14 nights mobile home, flights and car hire just under 2.5k plus enough spending money for gelati, aperitivi and bistecca alla fiorentina. There are 5 of us. I happily shop and Lidl and buy my clothes on eBay so that we can afford holidays. I love going away and am desperate to do a long-haul trip in 2017!

thelostboy · 10/04/2016 21:14

About £1k for a cottage in Normandy for 10 days and ferry crossing in August. First foreign holiday since our honeymoon in 2002. The kids are very excited.

blueteapot · 10/04/2016 21:20

£1200 for 4 star all inclusive in majorca for a week in June, 2 adults 2 kids (one a free infant place). £80 cashback has tracked too with TCB and I will see how much of that I can withdraw as tesco points towards another UK break later in the year. Will be more difficult next year wben DS school age and DD over 2

blueteapot · 10/04/2016 21:20

ClopySow · 10/04/2016 21:24

mrsjskelton · 10/04/2016 21:25

Portugal self catered - approx £3000 for me, DH, DD (will be 8 months), DM, DB and his GF for 2 weeks.

Gorgeous apartment and rooftop pool WineStarHalo

SingingSamosa · 10/04/2016 21:27

£150,000

But that's because we've decided to buy a log cabin in Snowdonia!

Kennington · 10/04/2016 21:29

1500 for flights, car and food
Summer house in Greece
Am shocked by some of the prices mentioned here.

liz70 · 10/04/2016 21:29

I'm shocked at some of these prices too - we did two weeks SC, for the five of us, in a lovely three bed appartment in Menorca for £2,500 including flights in 2014. We did once do a fortnight AI in Rhodes that cost £4-5000 in 2012. Can't afford that all the time though. We usually try to alternate a UK holiday one summer with a foreign one the next. Plus we always go away for the first week in April, usually staying in Scotland or Northern England (just back from a lovely week in a SC lodge in a holiday park in Northumberland). We usually stick to SC to keep costs down.
