I've spent today getting quotes for my family of 5 to spend two weeks in Spain/Italy/Greece/Turkey. I'm astounded by how much it costs to spend a fortnight away. Mark Warner quoted me over £10k for s fortnight in their cheapest resort!!!

So where are you going and how much are you paying for flights plus accommodation?

About £4K for 4 of us, all inclusive Crete in August.
Won't spend much when we're there.

CPtart · 10/04/2016 16:14

That's 11 nights I should say.

LittleLionMansMummy · 10/04/2016 16:23

14 nights in south western France. £1k crossing and accommodation (5 star campsite), plus maybe £300-400 in diesel and tolls. Then maybe another £1k spending money, so £2.5k all in. There are three of us - we take our caravan.

Primaryteach87 · 10/04/2016 16:25

Haha!! £10k!! That's madness.

We would spend max £1500 on family of four.

Lolly12 · 10/04/2016 16:45

We are spending about £1500 in total for a week in Italy in August (two adults two kids), at a Eurocamp type place near Venice. Staying in a 3 bed static caravan on a site with pools and very close to the beach. Cheapish flights with Ryanair from our local airport at good times.

The thing that sold it for me was the apparent cheap wine and prosecco on tap in the shop.

Not been on holiday since 2005, unlikely to go on one in the foreseeable future. Sick of listening to rich family bragging about their travels while we count pennies.

I miss it massively. It's the biggest, biggest thing I miss. Give up work, have kids... oh, hey, yeah, basically you'll never travel again. Yay.

Chrisinthemorning · 10/04/2016 16:54

14k but that's for 4 adults, 1 child. 3 weeks in Orlando and Anna Maria, flying PE there, UC back, including park tickets, villas with pools and hot tubs and car hire.
Last year we spent 4k on 2 weeks in Menorca, again 4 adults, 1 child- flights car hire and 3 bed villa with pool.
Next year we have an apartment in Majorca, 1 bed on a complex with pools and kids club. The accommodation is £350 a week in August but haven't booked flights yet. The grandparents have booked the apartment next door Smile

About £750 for a fortnight camping in Cornwall all inc, Inc ferry from where we live, a posh Tresanton lunch and lots of eating out. Will probably cover a few nights in the New Forest too, as well as fuel obviously.

We will also do lots of long weekends locally as we live in a holiday location, won't cost much.

Then a long weekend festival with kids at the end of the summer... Only ferry left to be covered so £100 prob

Budget is around 1200 but won't spend that much.

witsender · 10/04/2016 17:02

Didn't notice the word foreign, sorry.

PortiaCastis · 10/04/2016 17:06

Well I wont be going anywhere because I cut up my credit cards

Genx77 · 10/04/2016 17:07

Just booked the annabelle in Cyprus for the 4 of us, August, £3300. E have a place in St tropez so will spend a few weeks there throughout the year but obviously that won't cost us much.

KitKatCustard · 10/04/2016 17:09

Another one not going abroad this year or probably ever again. Poverty's a rotten thing.

P1nkP0ppy · 10/04/2016 17:12

As little as possible - 10 days in Italian Alps s/c, beautiful apartment for 4 adults +1dgc including flights (booked very early), car hire, food etc £1000.

allegretto · 10/04/2016 17:16

Staying at my parents' house in the south of England (that's abroad for us!) and pay for petrol and ferry (plus two overnight stops) from Italy.

scotsgirl64 · 10/04/2016 17:16

angielou123 · 10/04/2016 17:29

FarAwayHills · 10/04/2016 17:38

Just under £2k for 2 wks in Portugal in the school summer holidays, 2 adults, 2 children. Includes private rented apartment with pool, flights and car hire.

origamiwarrior · 10/04/2016 17:42

People: you need to book earlier!

We've got a package with British Airways holidays for half-board 5* Corfu, 1 week in August for £1500 (for 2 adults 1 child). Booked in the magical savings period between Christmas and New Year. Just checked again now, and the identical holiday and flights (really good flight times) is £2,700.

If you are doing flights and accommodation separately, even more important to book early for the flight deals.

Expatmomma · 10/04/2016 17:44

£7k .... 3 weeks un the USA. Going to the West Coast.

Am a single mom so it's me and my 2 sons.

dementedma · 10/04/2016 17:48

Feck, this thread is depressing. Both dh and I work but no way can we afford a holiday. Again!

takemetomars · 10/04/2016 17:51

£1550 on a canal boat holiday in early august. It is both of our 50th birthdays this year and our 30th wedding anniversary so this year is special. We don't normally book anything in august but the timing of our special holiday meant that we had to.
So far this year we have been to Florida 4 adults, £10,000, off to cornwall in may £1000 for 4 nights, aforementioned canal boat hol in August and then a bespoke holiday in India, £15,000, in November. It has been an expensive year, we would normally spend around £12,000 annually on foreign holidays. We spent many, many years eurocamping in France when the children were small and have only had the money for luxury hols in the last 6/7 years

totalrecall1 · 10/04/2016 17:51

I don't know how some of you are finding such reasonable priced holidays. Due to 3DC I can't find anything below 6k during summer holidays. Want to know how Amy got Aruba so cheap!

MissMoo22 · 10/04/2016 17:53

£1000 for a week in Menorca last week in August. That's self catering for a family of 5.

I am sooooo bloody excited about it! We had said we weren't going away this year but then decided that if we could do it cheap enough then we would so when I whittled the options down to that ^^ then we decided to go for it BUT we're not telling the kids. The older boys are 14 and 9 and will be told we're going on a day trip so want to leave early in the day (10am) and they will only find out about the holiday when we get to the airport.

TheFear · 10/04/2016 18:07

4k all inclusive, two weeks in Majorca, including flights and transfers. In July. Thought that was a reasonably good deal for four of us.
