to be kinda proud that Katie Hopkins and Owen Jones have blocked me on twitter, without me saying anything offensive

Just noticed this, I've been blocked by a right and left idiot. I'm sure I didn't say anything offensive as I have a few RL friends on twitter so don't treat it as annon. I just argued with some of their ridiculous tweets.

Does this mean I'm in the centre?

Why is Owen Jones an idiot? Confused I think he's a hero.

JennyOnTheBlocks · 17/03/2015 10:44

not really, it sort of means you're a twitter troll Blush

Cariad007 · 17/03/2015 10:45

I liked Owen until his recent behaviour towards some feminists I know. Now I have no time for him whatsoever.

keepsmiling2015 · 17/03/2015 10:55

Yabu to be proud of it. Weird!

ArcheryAnnie · 17/03/2015 10:59

I know little about Katie Hopkins, but I'd be proud of being blocked by Owen Jones, bumptious little skidmark that he is.

MrsFlannel there's a few of us who thought Owen Jones was a nice enough lad, if a bit wet behind the ears, until he started on his "listen to feminists (as long as they agree with me)" schtick.

You can find more info on this recent thread (disclosure: that I started) here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a2322768-Men-who-parade-how-feminist-they-are-but-who-can-fuck-right-off

My latest laugh was when another tweeter pointed out that Owen had marked the anniversary of Tony Benn's death by posting ...a picture of himself. To borrow someone else's words: "Senator Owen, I served with Jack Kennedy Tony Benn. I knew Tony Benn. Tony Benn was a friend of mine. Owen, you're no Tony Benn"

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 17/03/2015 11:01

Definitely be proud of being blocked by Owen 'I listen to women as long as they agree with me' Jones.

It is hilarious how he wrote that self-righteous post about the importance of being a feminist and listening to women and then because some of them dared question him on something he went on a massive blocking spree.

Being blocked by Katie Hopkins is probably good too.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 17/03/2015 11:03

How DID you get blocked by Owen, anyway? Did you say things to him directly or was this a 'you're friends with people I don't agree with' block?

yewbeeches · 17/03/2015 11:13

For Owen the self styled "voice of the working poor" who writes about this from his Islington residence, I called him up on some of his niave feminist views. Not particularly offensive I thought, guess I must be a troll.

OP posts:
Cariad007 · 17/03/2015 11:41

Disagree with him and goes "WAAH WAAH FTW FTW WAAH WAAH!" Odious little shite, he's like that kid who will say anything to get in with the cool crowd at school and reeks of desperation.

RandomNPC · 17/03/2015 12:00

I had a mild argument with Owen Jones on Twitter. I'm on the left too, but I think he's a prat. 'This generation's George Orwell' my arse. He's a 'rent an opinion' as much as muppets like Littlejohn and Mad Mel Philips.
(That was a quote on the front of his new book by Russell Brand).

MrsFlannel · 17/03/2015 12:00

archery but was he just not listening to women who didn't agree with him because they were Right Wing? If so I don't see what their sex has to do with it anyway. I won't listen to fuck all that Right Wing arses have to say....don' give a shit about their opinion. Maybe that's pigheaded but so what?

RandomNPC · 17/03/2015 12:04

He's massively self important. Just like that bloody 'Penny Red'. Grrr.

MrsFlannel · 17/03/2015 12:06

I think he has good reason to be self important. He's written some excellent books and articles. He's very passionate. And as for him having a flat in Islington...what's that got to do with anything??

OddFodd · 17/03/2015 12:09

He's a vile misogynist

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 17/03/2015 12:09

They weren't right wing! Has he been saying they were?

RandomNPC · 17/03/2015 12:12

I bought and read 'Chavs'. It was pretty pedestrian stuff. He has no real insight, and his embrace of Russell Brand was embarrassing.

RandomNPC · 17/03/2015 12:13

He also has an incredibly thin skin.

AnnaFiveTowns · 17/03/2015 12:15

Owen Jones, a misogynist? I don't think so!

Yanbu about Katie Hopkins, she's a twat.

AnnaFiveTowns · 17/03/2015 12:16

I'm with you, Mrs Flannel.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 17/03/2015 12:17

I wouldn't have thought so a month ago Anna, but now I'm not so sure.

He definitely doesn't rate women's opinions and women's arguments as highly as he rates men's.

Lucyccfc · 17/03/2015 12:19

I read Chav too. Thought it was a decent read, except his constant banging on about how the working class have been kept down and trodden on all their lives. Excuses galore for all the reasons why the working class have not achieved. It made me embarrassed to be working class.

Cariad007 · 17/03/2015 12:21

No MrsFlannel, they were very definitely not right wing. Read the thread ArcheryAnnie linked to. Owen just can't deal with anyone suggesting that he might be in the wrong and resorts to insults.

BathshebaDarkstone · 17/03/2015 12:21

bumptious little skidmark Grin

funnyossity · 17/03/2015 12:23

Yes. I find him an embarrassment Lucy.

Who on earth compared him to George Orwell?

OOPs just read properly... Russell BrandGrin. That's given me a genuine belly laugh - thanks Russell!
