to be kinda proud that Katie Hopkins and Owen Jones have blocked me on twitter, without me saying anything offensive

Just noticed this, I've been blocked by a right and left idiot. I'm sure I didn't say anything offensive as I have a few RL friends on twitter so don't treat it as annon. I just argued with some of their ridiculous tweets.

Does this mean I'm in the centre?

Our generation's Orwell, my bottom. He's ridiculous, he's rapidly turning into a caricature of himself.

funnyossity · 17/03/2015 12:36

Another laugh out loud here seeing it in actual print. Thank you Random!

You and Russell have brought a little bit of fun into my morning. While I seethe, no one else in my family even registers OJ beyond him being "a bi' annoying" (Quote from the teenager seeing a mirror image of himself on Question Time panel.)

Sleepyhoglet · 17/03/2015 12:40

I tweeted him and never for a response. He was calling for Oxbridge unis to be removed and insinuating that they cause problems. I replied and said that rather than belittling places which do things well we should aspire for all places to improve rather than to bring successful places down to a lower standard.

RandomNPC · 17/03/2015 12:42

When he first arrived, I thought he was interesting. He's now a churnalist though, you can predict his opinion on anything before you read the article. He posted the usual knee jerk stuff about ten minutes after Charlie Hebdo. I made a mild comment on Twitter about perhaps giving it slightly longer before giving his opinion, he went a bit apeshit at me. He's not very interesting or challenging; he'll never be Christopher Hitchens, never mind Orwell.

sPJPPp · 17/03/2015 12:43

That Orwell quote from brand has too be a joke spoof right?

I really hope it isn't, silly little boy.

Heckler · 17/03/2015 12:44

I might follow him on Twitter, just to try to get blocked.

Oswin · 17/03/2015 12:46

I used to think he was great. I thought he was really nice and passionate. After all that terf bollocks he can get to fuck now.

RandomNPC · 17/03/2015 12:50

I haven't read him for a while due to the irritation factor, I'm not a great fan of TERFs either though.

ClaudetteWyms · 17/03/2015 13:01

YANBU, you should be very proud on both counts.

My FIL loves OJ's books Chavs and The Establishment and keeps trying to get me and DH to read them. I read about half of the former but it was a bit pedestrian, and some was just nonsense. I couldn't read the latter after seeing RB quoted on the front cover - hardly a recommendation!

Cariad007 · 17/03/2015 13:04

No one is a fan of TERFs but the women he was talking to were not TERFs.

eyebags63 · 17/03/2015 13:32

They are both total morons. Well done.

funnyossity · 17/03/2015 13:41

Katie Hopkins is our generation's...

Could Russ come up with another pearl?

Pyjamasandwine · 17/03/2015 13:45

Whose Owen jones? Never heard of him.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 17/03/2015 14:16

"Katie Hopkins is our generation's..."

Bernard Manning

SideOrderofChips · 17/03/2015 14:32

Who is Owen Jones?

yewbeeches · 17/03/2015 14:51

Oh yes do try to get blocked by oj, I'm sure just a "I don't think your the new Orwell" will probably get him bashing at block straight away.

Bit more surprised in kh didn't think she took it too seriously and knows her act is just to get attention. Oj probably does think he's all that.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 17/03/2015 15:42

SideOrderofChips He's a journalist who writes quite generic articles, but is widely praised for doing so possibly because he looks very young and people mistakenly believe he really is only 12 and not his actual age of 30.

No, MrsFlannel, the women he disagrees with are not "Right wing". Quite the opposite - he's being the reactionary one.

It's worth noting that Owen is parading around all puffed-up at bravely "listening to trans people" when half the people he's blocked are trans women who are telling him that he's wrong about all this, too.

I get very tired of saying this, but this is not "TERFS" cross at Owen because of his amazingly brave trans-inclusive feminist views.

It's women and trans women cross at Owen because he refuses to acknowledge that women are getting thrown under the bus by the extreme trans activists that he's allying himself with.

(Also, anybody using "TERF" with a straight face needs to get over themselves, unless they are also fine with "bitch", "feminnazi", "cunt" and all the other gendered insults which have little to do with how the TERFs/bitches/cunts/feminazis themselves have ever behaved, and everything to do with the need to shut women up by the quickest and handiest route possible.)

Heckler · 17/03/2015 19:06

What Annie said.

ouryve · 17/03/2015 19:10

Both at once? What did you do? Knock heads together?

RandomNPC · 17/03/2015 19:13

Are you having a go at the likes of Sarah Brown here?

nochocolateforlentteacake · 17/03/2015 19:30

I got banned by the Beanie Babies from their website forum. Apparently I was offensive. I wasn't even trying, just exasperated trying to get my hands on a specific bb that my niece had her heart set on but were understocked in the stores and were being sold on eBay for a gazillion times their rrp.

They can be quite malevolent you know...
