to call the police as a tree my neighbour hated has started dying in the last few weeks

My neighbour hates my trees, always complaining about them and has offered to pay to have them cut down, but I like the privacy they provide even though they are a bit ugly (golden cypress).

Last weekend I noticed it was going a bit brown, and its defiantly got worse. I'm sure they have poisoned one of them. Aibu to go to the police?

I don't know, remember case where man chopped down neighbors tree for the view!

WastingMyYoungYears · 13/03/2015 20:01

Grin and when they arrive in the police car, the siren will be going tree-naw tree-naw.

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 13/03/2015 20:02

What can the police do, it could have been poisoned but without evidence it was the neighbour then it's your word against them.

I don't get the privacy thing, especially as people can see in from an upstairs window.

countessmarkyabitch · 13/03/2015 20:02

Sure. Maybe they'll send the csi squad to test the tree for poisons.
Or perhaps not.

not a small amount ^ but how could you prove it?

ARoomWithoutAView · 13/03/2015 20:04

Run a metal detector all round the trunk from ground level to about 7ft high and then look for copper nails.

ShatnersBassoon · 13/03/2015 20:04

Defiance is a sign that big ugly trees are close to natural death. Let it go peacefully, and replace it with something attractive.

LIZS · 13/03/2015 20:04

There should be a tree warden at the council. Is there a tpo on it? Otherwise I fear it will be a civil matter.

keepsmiling2015 · 13/03/2015 20:07

I'm sure they'd be only delighted to come and investigate.

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 13/03/2015 20:12

It sounds like Cypress Aphid is attacking the tree.

usualsuspect333 · 13/03/2015 20:14

You need to ring the Special Branch.

Marynary · 13/03/2015 20:16

As my garden was in the shade for several years due to my neighbour's fucking golden cypress trees I don't sympathise with you at all. I hope your trees die.....

NorbertDentressangle · 13/03/2015 20:16

at Special Branch Grin

sPJPPp · 13/03/2015 20:16

Unfortunately no tpo on it. I'm not talking about calling 999 but reporting it as a non emergency matter, it is criminal damage.
