to call the police as a tree my neighbour hated has started dying in the last few weeks

My neighbour hates my trees, always complaining about them and has offered to pay to have them cut down, but I like the privacy they provide even though they are a bit ugly (golden cypress).

Last weekend I noticed it was going a bit brown, and its defiantly got worse. I'm sure they have poisoned one of them. Aibu to go to the police?

Cypress the tide of abuse, surely, salmo?

pinkyredrose · 13/03/2015 20:33

Loving that your tree is defiant by getting worse! Probably can't wait for the end to come.

You do realise that your the problem neighbour don't you, not next door?

Reminds me of the "Lost Marbles" thread this does.

Brilliant.

Salmotrutta · 13/03/2015 20:36

I think people have been a bit cutting to the OP.

Salmotrutta · 13/03/2015 20:37

Nothing worse than a defiant tree.

Right buggers they are.

MissPenelopeLumawoo2 · 13/03/2015 20:38

I think you should get a tree surgeon to inspect it. They will be able to advise you if the tree is dying of natural causes, or has been tampered with.

ButchCassidy · 13/03/2015 20:38

After a shite day this thread has made me laugh out loud

There might be a grain of truth in the OPs suspicions though.

TroubleAttMill · 13/03/2015 20:39

They might believe that neighbourly disputes are just an old chestnut, but I'm sure good detective work will 'conker' all.

Pipbin · 13/03/2015 20:40

You need to contact the council. A friend of mine is a tree bloke for the council. He often gets called out for cases where trees have been poisoned. It is your property and they can be fined. The council tree person will be able to determine if it has been poisoned or otherwise deliberately damaged.
They get good at spotting the signs as trees that home owners aren't allowed to chop down as they are preserved often strangely start dying.

BlackbirdOnTheWire · 13/03/2015 20:40

The OP probably woodn't have expected this response to her post, but I find MN really blossoms on a Friday night.

However, I now have to bough out for a bit.

Thank yew fir this thread OP.

Have you had a look at other similar trees in your neighbourhood? Are they all looking healthy.

TheFairyCaravan · 13/03/2015 20:45

I think the police would be stumped by this case, tbh!

TheFairyCaravan · 13/03/2015 20:52

The police wood axe yew a few questions OP. I bet both you and your neighbour would be releafed to find out why your tree is dying.
