AIBU?

You don't have the hands for nails and other nasty things men say without thinking

AIBU to expect my man to cherish and adore me like when we first met?
Recently i've heard that I don't have the hands for nails when I painted them and asked what he thought. I admit my hands are chubby, but so are his! Is that a reason enough to discourage me from getting my nails done? He retracted very quickly saying how lovely my hands were blah blah blah, but I wonder if all men are so thoughtless and blurt out the first thing that comes to mind sometimes?

Has he ever asked you for your opinion on his hands?

This is his opinion actually! That is what he said straight after making that comment.

I have a toe that is both webbed and wonky (many breaks). It throbs when it's cold.

Sometimes if I'm lying with my feet on his lap he'll just sit there laughing at it.

Confused

OK I admit I opened this thread because I thought he was saying your hands were too delicate for carpentry/D-I-Y and I couldn't see what the issue was.

I'll have you know I do not do any of these things, does that make me a bad woman? :)

'You don't have the hands for nails'?
Grin
I'd have asked him "Think I should just chop 'em off?"

I can't do nail art. Not for long anyway, my hands are in water a lot so the art wouldn't last long.

My Dp said to me yesterday, after bring up since 4.30am and having been to work that I don't have that pregnancy glow people talk about I just look knackered. Well I wonder why, thanks dear.

This sounds like something my dp would say newyears :)

I don't usually get my nails done either missusdaly, and probably won't for a long time now!

Chubby hands look great with long, painted nails, its small, squarish, knobbly hands that look better with a short nail imo, still painted though. I'd paint my nails every day if my DH said that to me Grin

One of my sister's friends had a new boyfriend (now her husband) and was instructed 'not to wear lipstick or short skirts anymore' (both things she enjoyed wearing, but she complied - then he told her to get rid of her beloved 10 yr old cats and she did that too! Horrendous.

I've had a lot of insults off men over the years - now men don't insult me mainly because I hardly know any men now.

If a partner told me 'not to wear nail varnish' or anything like that I'd make sure to do it just to annoy them!

DP told me I look 40 today. I'm not 40, not close! I was not impressed.

DH wants me to wear short shirt's and tops, I have politely told him that at 42 I look better slightly more covered up in public!
Ds is the one who freaks put and won't go near me if I have nail varnish or lipstick on.
OP I'd wear it anyway just to annoy him! Smile

My DH once told a friend of mine that hers was the nicest wedding dress he had seen. After our wedding. And followed it up with 'what? It's true'. I didn't talk to him for quite a while after that.

I did that.
The day after a bf said he had an "allergy" to lipstick I wore it. I almost never do.
He didn't have an allergy. He just didn't like women in make up, as he told me at one point.
It turns out I didn't like quite a few things he did and dumped him after a few months.

LionWings I think that would have pissed me off too.

I think the worst thing my dp has said was 'You have 2 pairs of £100 jeans in your wardrobe which don't fit you anymore, Why don't you ask x (his best mates gf) if she wants them as I'm sure they will fit her. I was not impressed with that AT ALL.

My DH once said to me "should there be that bit over the top of your jeans?" after I gave birth to DS2 and tried on non-maternity clothes. He almost lost hi knackers for that.

As for not wearing makeup just because a man says so, that smacks of controlling behaviour and I'd do the opposite just to upset them.

I went through a stage of running on the treadmill each morning before work (we had one in the garage). I got really into it and bought some running looking gear and I was standing there in the kitchen with these skin tight running tights and a skin tight running top clinging to my cheeky roll of fat and he just looked and me and said "well darling, you certainly look the part!"

Arse!

DH said a woman on the telly was probably a FF bra size (no idea what we were discussing

I said, well I think she is bigger because I am an F

And he said "I think of you as more of a C cup"

Hmm

Dh informed me the other day(while walking the dog) that I looked better with makeup on. He said I always look better with some on. The thing is though when I do take my time and put a bit on he'll say, "what's the point, you're only walking the dog". I can't win.

My Father said I don't know why you bother wearing make-up, it makes no difference. Lose weight, you're gross one guy said. One 'friend' said to her boyfriend SoleSource is really ugly, I could hear her. I feta really betrayed. I've had many nasty comments from men of my appearance. Also sniggering at me when I'm out and about.

latara that's a bloody red flag right there.

Op that's hilarious sorry certainly book a nail appointment. Grin

My dh tells me I don't need makeup as he's a tight bastard who doesn't like the spend. Bollocks to that.

I overheard my ds tell his gf she had childbearing thighs. We both jumped on the git.
