Is that extra 5 minutes in bed really worth it when you have to apply your make up on the train?

Woman opposite me on the train proceeded to empty half of Boots onto the table and put her make up on.

The funniest bit was the lipstick application- I've never seen someone make a perfect 'O' with their move to put on Lipton- could help thinking of those dodgy blow up dolls!

Who is actually so unphased by it they they can do it?

Well, needs must and all that.

Maybe they overslept.

BitchBags · 04/03/2015 20:31

Why not? She had nothing else to do on the train so she may as well make use if her time travelling.

Bearbehind · 04/03/2015 20:31

I'd just go to the loo and do it if necessary.

I can't imagine sitting on a packed commuter train and troweling my slap on in full view of everyone!

Not like she was lighting up a crack pipe.

Just make up. No harm to anyone else.

Mintyy · 04/03/2015 20:32

What possessed her was the desire for an extra 10 minutes in bed. Quite easy to understand afaic.

avocadogreen · 04/03/2015 20:32

I put mine on bit by bit in the traffic jam on the way to work!

KittensOnAPlane · 04/03/2015 20:32

agree with bitchbags -why not

PilchardPrincess · 04/03/2015 20:32

Loads of women do their makeup on the train. Tube also.

Doesn't bother me at all.

Optimist1 · 04/03/2015 20:32

Until a few weeks ago I would have been pretty meh about someone applying their makeup during the commute, but then I saw a young woman using her eyelash curlers and thought her method looked a lot more effective than mine. Tried her way the following day (not on the train - in the privacy of my boudoir) and was very impressed - have been using it ever since!

SuperMumTum · 04/03/2015 20:33

I don't wear make up these days but back before I had kids and still had some standards I used to do this occasionally. I've never understood why it shocks people so much.

SavoyCabbage · 04/03/2015 20:33

I would if it meant I could do something with my dc for an extra five minutes. Or even better, drink a coffee in absolute peace and quiet.

Feckeggblue · 04/03/2015 20:34

Why not? It's no big deal.

scribblescrabble · 04/03/2015 20:34

What a silly think to get annoyed about now that Forever aloe shite, THATS something to get het up about!!

PilchardPrincess · 04/03/2015 20:34

Optimist yes I quite like looking at what products are used and you get the full before and after Grin

things that piss me off on transport = feet on seats, stinky food.

Bearbehind · 04/03/2015 20:35

I put mine on bit by bit in the traffic jam on the way to work!

That's just stupidly dangerous.

Why would you have to go to the loo to apply make up?

I never understand why this annoys people so much? What is excactly that bothers you about someone applying make up on the train? Serious question.

DarkHeart · 04/03/2015 20:36

I always apply my makeup on the train- I have an hours journey and nothing else to do Grin

SwedishEdith · 04/03/2015 20:36

I love watching people put their make-up on on the train - love seeing the transformation and picking up tips. I'd always worry I've been doing something wrong for years and I'd get lots of Shock and Confused faces.

FizzyGood · 04/03/2015 20:36

I used to do it when I commuted

Mintyy · 04/03/2015 20:36

I have been a little bit Shock to see people plucking their facial hair on the tube though. I feel a line might have been crossed there.

Bearbehind · 04/03/2015 20:36

I wasn't annoyed by it- I suppose I was quietly impressed that someone could give so little of a shit about what everyone else thinks (because the lipppy application really was a sight to behold!)

I'm just impressed she managed to get a seat with a table on a packed commuter train!

Runningupthathill82 · 04/03/2015 20:38

I'd do it. When I'm at home I have to put makeup on with DS running around my bedroom, inspecting everything he can get his hands on. Rather than get up at 5.30am to be showered, made up and dressed before he wakes, I often do my makeup once I get to work. If I commuted by train, it seems a good use of time.

avocadogreen · 04/03/2015 20:39

Bearbehind not while the car is actually moving! There is always a long queue at a particular red light. No more dangerous than, say, changing a CD.
