Is that extra 5 minutes in bed really worth it when you have to apply your make up on the train?

Woman opposite me on the train proceeded to empty half of Boots onto the table and put her make up on.

The funniest bit was the lipstick application- I've never seen someone make a perfect 'O' with their move to put on Lipton- could help thinking of those dodgy blow up dolls!

Who is actually so unphased by it they they can do it?

I don't quite understand how it's 'rude' and 'anti social' would you prefer they try strike up conversation with you? or sit on their phone all journey? Is reading not seen as rude and anti social too?

I have been known to apply make up on my commute, use foundation brush and a small concealar brush so don't touch my skin with dirty fingers. in my view its 'dead' time so might as well fill it with something other than sitting on my phone or deciding what's for tea. 30 minute commute 5 days a week - definitely worth filling with something :-)

i don't think it's rude per se.

I think it's far too personal.

It's not hurting anybody but it's very slightly sociopathic because it totally ignores or seems unaware of the normal 'rules' of society. The fact that it's a private intimate thing and you're literally forcing others to be a part of that.

Oh I better add a disclaimer too. When I'd do mine the train was usually virtually empty. Couldn't pluck up courage if I was elbow to elbow with someone Confused

there are nuances for sure! i have had a surreptitious peep in compact mirror when there are no witnesses

Op please mind your own business. Ever since I discovered it saves me time I've done it on buses, trains and tubes. There aren't toilets in my southern train but they do have small flip down tables or big ones. Lots of other female passengers also apply on the train. If you don't do this yet are immaculately made up then good on you!

The other day on a bus after severe train delays (alternative route) I dropped my lipstick though a kind man picked up both tube and lip (they'd become separated! I wasn't using it at the time but it fell out of the pocket at back of bag. Yes I santised both afterwards!

If you believe that putting make up on is 'intimate' then I think you're weird. Washing your fanjo is 'intimate' - don't do that on the train Grin
