AIBU to wonder who in their right mind buys Wensleydale cheese on purpose?

I accidentally bought some tonight, it must have been lurking in amongst the cheddar and I didn't notice my mistake until I got home.

Well. It looks and tastes every inch a big mistake. Does anyone ever buy it on purpose? If so, why? What am I going to do with the rest of it? I never met a cheese I didn't like, but this is just unspeakable Confused

With cranberries or ginger it's incredible.

Ubik1 · 24/02/2015 22:12

It's fabulous with fruit cake

NormHonal · 24/02/2015 22:13

I meant the Wensleydale you buy with cranberries inside. Delicious.

Bluestocking · 24/02/2015 22:13

I love it with fruit cake. Mind you, there are some very nasty cheapo Wensleydales out there (all acidic and stinky) so perhaps you were unlucky.

I very much buy it on purpose and made fabulous spinach and cheese filo pastry pies with it! Lovely stuff!

SpringTimeIsComing · 24/02/2015 22:15

It's amazing with apricots Grin

My favourite cheese. Love it with apricots, pickled onions and cranberries.

I'll have it :) love Wensleydale. Grannie used to buy it locally waxed to go with xmas cake. She would always have to get more as mum and I would demolish it :)

zippyandbungle · 24/02/2015 22:18

We were sent a Wensleydale for Christmas each year from dhs great uncle who lived in Wensleydale. I love it and miss my Christmas cheese gift.

ChrisMooseAlbanians · 24/02/2015 22:19

Dammit kingJoff got there before me....

DrFoxtrot · 24/02/2015 22:19

Me, I love it with cranberries, but have discovered Tesco's is rank and Co-op's is delicious. I like getting a chunk as a snack and feel disappointed if I've none in the fridge. Love Lancashire too.

PisforPeter · 24/02/2015 22:19

It's awesome with fig relish!

DramaAlpaca · 24/02/2015 22:20

I love it too, especially with fruit cake.

It's superb with crisp sharp apples and grapes. No biscuits or crackers for my taste though, just Wensleydale, Apple and grapes.

oldcroneat39 · 24/02/2015 22:22

Cracking cheese.

alleypalley · 24/02/2015 22:23

I bought some in Waitrose last week with salted caramel pieces in it. It was scrummy!

VirginiaTonic · 24/02/2015 22:23

Best with Christmas cake!

hiddenhome · 24/02/2015 22:24

I've just had some with cranberries. It was very nice Smile

LuisSuarezTeeth · 24/02/2015 22:25

Me.

With/without fruity bits.

I ate it in Wensleydale in 1996 and I had it as an accompaniment to my wedding cake in 1997. It was the shining moment of my marriage.
