AIBU to wonder who in their right mind buys Wensleydale cheese on purpose?

I accidentally bought some tonight, it must have been lurking in amongst the cheddar and I didn't notice my mistake until I got home.

Well. It looks and tastes every inch a big mistake. Does anyone ever buy it on purpose? If so, why? What am I going to do with the rest of it? I never met a cheese I didn't like, but this is just unspeakable Confused

It is wrong with fruit in. It is amazing with fruit, be it cake, pie, or just an apple.
Bet my most favourite way to eat wensleydale is slightly melted over a slab of parkin. Drroooool.
Northern lass

I really don't care for cheese with fruit in it, but with it is great.
Has anyone ever had a French cheese with fruit in it ?

I bloody love Wensleydale cheese. AND Caerphilly. We went to Betws-y-Coed when I was pregnant with DS & I made DH drive round to find a cheese shop or deli so I could buy some. Then sat in the car breaking chucks off & scoffing it with some ginger biscuits.

Adding to shopping list......

Wensleydale with apricots is my favourite cheese. I can't leave it alone if it's in the fridge though so I don't buy it too often. Mmmmmm

Oh can I tell you about the brussel sprout and Wensleydale soup I made out of Christmas left overs?

There. I've told you.

I invented it myself and it was really nice, honestly. It was so nice my teenage DD didn't turn her nose up at it all but ate a big bowlfull and commented on how good it was!

I do love a bit of crumbly Wensleydale. And Cheshire and Lancashire

I have to stop reading this thread now, it's making me want Wensleydale too much..

Think of it as 'The Feta of The North'

Wensleydale is a fine cheese. That said, the average supermarket Wensleydale is worthless plastic shite. In this respect it is similar to supermarket Cheshire, Lancashire, Double Gloucester, Cheddar....

Another important point to note is that cheese with bits in is almost certainly shit, too. Nobody ever made a delicious cheese then decided to add fruit to it. No, they either made a crap cheese and added fruit to distract you or, at best, came up with a fruit-cheese concept and set out to make some adequate cheese to use in the product.
