E.g. :-
"I cook from scratch" - I hate "from scratch". We used to say "everything was homemade".

And those of you who state "homemade potato wedges" Hmm? ...yeah, I'm impressed. So that would be some potatoes shoved in the oven then?

Do the cleaning, then go out for lunch. You can justify it because you've had exercise from doing your sexy moves to sir prince BrewCake

What is this tuna crunch of which you speak? What is the crunch?

I always ignore the sandwiches when I walk into a Greggs, because I want a chicken bake far too much. And a Belgian bun, until they RUINED them by putting orangey bits in with the raisins.

KatieScarlettreregged · 25/02/2015 11:04

Tuna crunch: tuna chunks with red pepper salsa and mayonnaise, topped with sliced red onion on salad leaves. The white bread is OK but the brown is just better tasting somehow. Really filling and if you buy a latte at the same time it only costs £3 (I am a total Scots stereotype).
Fridge and the Purple One it is then.

Well I cook from "scratch", but I've been shunned and booed for HOW I cook from scratch on here. Yes, I boiled my mince before frying it. So fucking what? It all ends up in a turd in your toilet at the end anyway, so who gives a fuck how you cook something as long as it tastes good.

My father had just two rules when it came to diet:

  1. Eat what you like and
  2. Eat a lot of it

I have always striven to follow in my dear old Dad's footsteps.

Salmotrutta, I hope that your (pan-)fried egg sandwich had 1 of your 5 a day on it (ie ketchup) and maybe an extra portion of protein (ie grated cheese).

My DC have a jewellery box bursting with rings from Gregg's fairy cakes.

Salmotrutta · 01/03/2015 11:56

Yes cruikshank - it had ketchup from the cupboard Wink

Ketchup from your own cupboard? That makes it locally-sourced, afaik.

BumpAndGrind · 01/03/2015 16:35

Define 'from scratch' though.

When is scrambled egg on toast made from scratch? where do you draw the line? Is just home-made bread ok, or do you have to also grind your own flour?

I often hear people say I made it from scratch, but then find out that they really didn't, depending on definition.

They used tomato purée from a tube, instead of puréeing some tomatoes?

Home-made meal sounds better. Made to your taste, by you, using handy kitchen short cuts.
