Threading lady getting a bit personal

thereisnocheese · 19/02/2015 22:24

It's my birthday on Sunday, and was out with my five month old baby today and decided to get my eyebrows threaded as I do not get time to do that sort of thing anymore. She did a great job of my eyebrows then said so do you want me to do your upper lip?! WTF, i thought, I haven't got a tache. DH agrees and also GBF (Gay Best Friend) - AIBU to want to complain to this threading lady???

Yes why don't you go back and complain.

Hmm
beeny · 19/02/2015 22:25

I think you are being sensitive. It is her job!

cashewnutty · 19/02/2015 22:26

She probably does a lot of upper lips and offered it to you as an option. Sort of up selling a bit more threading. I don't think she was trying to say you had a 'tache.

Alisvolatpropiis · 19/02/2015 22:28

This has happened to a few people I know, none of whom have hairy upper lips.

I'd presume the women doing the threading are keen to make a quick buck and play to something they know the majority of women will be self conscious about.

I wouldn't got back there again, personally.

londonrach · 19/02/2015 22:28

Threading? Whats that. You mean you sews eyebrows on you. Is that possible and why? Confused

JohnCusacksWife · 19/02/2015 22:29

Are you serious??

suze28 · 19/02/2015 22:29

This happened to my sister who was equally offended and mortified as she has no upper lip hair problem. They ask everyone so don't take is personally.

You are being ridiculous.

avocadotoast · 19/02/2015 22:31

This happened to me too! I was offended but then I figured they do offer it as a service, so maybe it's just something they offer as a matter of course. I dunno.

goodasitgets · 19/02/2015 22:31

I thought I hadn't any hair there (am v pale skin/hair) until I looked in te rear view mirror in the car Shock
Now I'm "take the damn lot off"
They offer it to everyone

Norfolkandchance1234 · 19/02/2015 22:33

This happened to me and I was very offended esp as I don't have an upper hair lip issue. I also think if they get rid of any invisible fine hairs they will probably grow back black and twice as thick.

VivaLeBeaver · 19/02/2015 22:33

I get this every time. Doesn't bother me. I have a little bit of hair which every now and then I do with removal cream but can't be arsed most of the time. She's trying to increase her income by suggesting it.

WorraLiberty · 19/02/2015 22:33

Everyone has hair on their upper lip. She simply asked if you wanted yours threaded.

Ok, I'll bite....

What does your friend's sexuality have to do with your hairy lip?

Waitingonasunnyday · 19/02/2015 22:33

This happened to me, I was not v impressed! But I think they do say it as a matter of course.

Mintyy · 19/02/2015 22:35

Don't have it done!! It's fecking agony.

lavenderhoney · 19/02/2015 22:38

It's normal to be asked.

Besides, she's at an angle with the light to see any long/ stray hairs and she probably thought she was helping you. Why didn't you ask her why she offered, if you thought it was ok, and a hair free zone?

guiltynetter · 19/02/2015 22:42

don't be ridiculous! they just want to make extra money. they asked me and I don't have any hair there. I just thought it was funny. talk about over sensitive!

loopylucylou · 19/02/2015 22:49

Did she mean your fanny lip

GlitteryLipgloss1 · 19/02/2015 22:53

That's normal to be asked.

McFox · 19/02/2015 22:55

So you're happy to her to yank hair out of one part of your face, but precious about another? Hmm Waaaay over sensitive.

Purplepumpkins · 19/02/2015 22:56

They always say that! dont worry about it.

wartsnall · 19/02/2015 22:58

I had my eyebrows threaded once - lady proceeded to thread my forehead!!! I hadn't even realised I had a hairy forehead Hmm

meglet · 19/02/2015 22:59

you are being over sensitive.
One of my previous waxers was itching to wax my arms, they're hairy. I wouldn't let her though. can you imagine what a pita ingrown hairs on arms would be .
