Threading lady getting a bit personal

It's my birthday on Sunday, and was out with my five month old baby today and decided to get my eyebrows threaded as I do not get time to do that sort of thing anymore. She did a great job of my eyebrows then said so do you want me to do your upper lip?! WTF, i thought, I haven't got a tache. DH agrees and also GBF (Gay Best Friend) - AIBU to want to complain to this threading lady???

What's offensive about a woman whose job it is to pay close attention to any hair on your face, noticing hair on your face?

AntiHop · 19/02/2015 23:06

Yabu. She's just doing her job.

changeychangechangeychange · 19/02/2015 23:07

If you go in India or the middle east it is like a whole body experience. You hand yourself over to a lady who just threads away- wherever she fancies- you lie there helpless. Even if you go for a massage they get the threads out. Toes is a biggy

MerryInthechelseahotel · 19/02/2015 23:08

*Everyone has hair on their upper lip. She simply asked if you wanted yours threaded.

Ok, I'll bite....

What does your friend's sexuality have to do with your hairy lip?*

Loved your post worra

MerryInthechelseahotel · 19/02/2015 23:13

If this guy went to the barbers he might get asked if he wanted his eye brows trimmed. Same thing.

My friends a beautician and it's an automatic ask for them as it's cheaper to have both done at once.

I'm sure she didn't mean offence - at friends salon they literally ask if you want both when you phone up too as they know it's more convenient and cheaper for people.

WorraLiberty · 19/02/2015 23:16

"Madam. Is that a moustache, or has your eyebrow popped down for a drink?"

Now that ^^ is an insult Grin

MrsBertMacklin · 19/02/2015 23:16

I thought I hadn't any hair there (am v pale skin/hair) until I looked in te rear view mirror in the car

God yes, love the rearview mirror on a bright sunny day for showing up all the hairs I thought I'd caught on my weekend wax session.

TillyGotTangled · 19/02/2015 23:18

If it's any consolation my lady continually offers to do mine for free Hmm

dancingwitch · 19/02/2015 23:20

At least they asked. When I had my eyebrows done recently, they just got on with it and did both my upper lip & my chin.

SomedayMyPrinceWillCome · 20/02/2015 08:24

Nipple threading???? Ouch, ouch & bloody thrice OUCH!!!!

Surely nobody ever has their nipples threaded?

HowCanIMissYouIfYouWontGoAway · 20/02/2015 08:26

You probably have hair on your lip.

A lot of people do.

It doesn't have to be a handlebar moustache.

All you have to do is say no thanks.

It's only hair. There's no need to be offended or complain.

You should see mine. I'm thinking of plaiting it and making it a feature.

IWantDogger · 20/02/2015 08:32

I went into the salon for a leg wax, went up to the reception desk and before I could say anything the receptionist said 'ah, are you here for your eyebrows?'

OnceUponATimeAgain · 20/02/2015 09:01

lol - complaining to the hair removal lady about offering hair removal

yup - you pop back and complain and please come back and tell us what she says

RudeBarbandCustard · 20/02/2015 09:08

Did anyone else come on this thread thinking that OP got touched up by the threading lady, or that she offered to do her fanjo as well as her eyebrows?

p.s. I wax my tache. I'm very dark haired, it's just a fact of life.

IMeanReally · 20/02/2015 09:11

The woman who does it in Superdrug here is a nightmare. She threaded mine then told me she'd have been able to do them better if I'd been sat in her chair and not in my wheelchair. And she told the friend I was with that she should get her eyebrows done too as they needed serious work.

susiedaisy · 20/02/2015 09:14

Yabu op. It's her job and yes you do have hair on your upper lip everyone does it's just yours might be blonde in colour so doesn't stand out but yes you do have a tach you just can't see it that well. Don't be so precious.

Royalsighness · 20/02/2015 09:16

This happened to my work colleague recently they do it to make you feel like you are hairy so you pay them more money. Simple as that.

MrsTawdry · 20/02/2015 09:18

My mate used to bleach her moustache and one day on the bus I noticed that she was basically sporting a big blonde tache.

So I told her...you need to get that waxed! She was so offended but then realised I was being honest and so she did.

this thread is hilarious

DrEllieSattler · 20/02/2015 09:26

Don't worry about it. It's a classic up sell. You're in the chair, in the position and it's another £5 or whatever for less than a minute's work for her.

DONT READ INTO IT.

stilllearnin · 20/02/2015 09:27

My threader goes for my nasal hair! We joke about it though and sometimes I let her as a treat Grin

HappyAmbler · 20/02/2015 09:28

My threading lady told me I had a lovely, long European nose (thanks!) and checked 3x if I was SURE I didn't want her to do my upper lip Grin

BloodyDogHairs · 20/02/2015 09:28

I got my eyebrows waxed on a Wednesday, went back on the Saturday for eye lash extension's and was asked if I wanted my eyebrows threadedHmm
