Threading lady getting a bit personal

It's my birthday on Sunday, and was out with my five month old baby today and decided to get my eyebrows threaded as I do not get time to do that sort of thing anymore. She did a great job of my eyebrows then said so do you want me to do your upper lip?! WTF, i thought, I haven't got a tache. DH agrees and also GBF (Gay Best Friend) - AIBU to want to complain to this threading lady???

OP posts:

Mrs Tawdry my aunt is the same she bleaches her tache insisting she doesn't need to wax, but just has a big blonde tache instead, which when the sun shines looks quite magnificent GrinGrin

Well if your 'GBF' tells you you have no upper lip hair, of course you don't. Everyone knows 'the gays' are notorious for pointing out facial hair issues. It's in their contracts Hmm

Titsalinabumsquash · 20/02/2015 09:50

I used to be the threading lady in the salon I worked in. Smile

It's nothing personal, everyone be they man/woman or child has fine downy hairs all over their body, some people prefer to have them all removed, we ask automatically just as we ask if you'd like a hand massage when you have a manicure and a head massage during a facial, it's how we make extra money.

For anyone not had threading - don't do it! It hurts 10x more than waxing... Although I might just be a wimp when it comes to hair removal Grin

Loandbehold · 20/02/2015 09:55

YABU, they say this all the time.

PastPerfect · 20/02/2015 10:00

YABU

Most people have hairs on their top lip. And 95% of those who claim they don't could really do with a wax

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2015 10:01

I don't find threading painful at all. Waxing is way way worse when it comes to eyebrows.
I don't think I have ever been asked about upper lip.

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2015 10:01

But I don't have a gay best friend to ask an opinion of.

I'm surprised people even leave their homes these days. The sensitivity and potential humiliation and hurt by strangers must make living unbearable.

GoooRooo · 20/02/2015 10:35

I had a threading lady ask me if I wanted my tache done once. I spent the next fortnight wondering if I actually looked like Tom Selleck.

DrewOB · 20/02/2015 10:36

I get the opposite problem, the lady always says "eyebrows" and I reply "no, everything". PCOS.

HoldingtheFortress · 20/02/2015 10:53

My GBF is a hairdresser

SallySolomon · 20/02/2015 11:00

WTF's threading involve?! Confused

Dragonflyfly · 20/02/2015 11:02

This happened to myself a couple of weeks ago and i was very pissed off (i went home to check in the mirror to see if i had a moustache hahaGrin)

When i mentioned it to a couple of friends they all had been asked the same so i think it nothing personal!

KissMyFatArse · 20/02/2015 11:09

Loopy GrinGrinGrin

BlessedAndGr8fulNoInLaws4Xmas · 20/02/2015 11:10

GrinGrinGrin This thread is so funny.

Ouch ouch ouch at threading though. I just have mine all waxed now - no where near as painful.

squoosh · 20/02/2015 11:10

You were there for facial hair removal. She asked if you wanted further facial hair removal.

Fail to see why this has offended you so.

HellKitty · 20/02/2015 11:14

Can you imagine bleaching them and them coming out orange??? You'd look like Keith Lemon Confused

squoosh · 20/02/2015 11:15

Threading gives eyebrows a far better shape than waxing does. Much more precise.

NoImSpartacus · 20/02/2015 11:17

Oh do grow up, OP Hmm

Keletubbie · 20/02/2015 11:18

I have my eyebrow, top lip, bottom lip and chin done... and I gleefully ignore my side burns.

sosix · 20/02/2015 11:19
Hmm
babygiraffe86 · 20/02/2015 11:23

its upselling, retail places do it too - superdrug always offer stamps and phone top ups.

usually the ladies who do the treading are asian/middle eastern/eastern european and it is not unusual there to thread away every hair on the body, arm hair, any facial hair, even the soft downy hairs around the stomach and breast areas. no need to be offended. the girl who does mine offers every time, also offers tinting of brows and lash extensions.
