To think that Islamic state will cause world war 3

ReallyTired · 16/02/2015 17:13

I feel terrified for the future. I believe that the world will reach a point where there will be outright war to stop Islamic state. In the meantime Russia will annexe the Ukraine and much of Eastern Europe.

I am scared that Islamic state will get hold of atomic weapons. There are Muslim extremists with the intelligence to make a nuclear bomb. There are Muslim countries with uranium deposits.

Yes TSS. I imagine the poster also believes that Elvis is alive and well and living in Droitwich.

KnittedJimmyChoos · 16/02/2015 18:37

But, I have no idea what this has to do with IS and WW3 unless we are concerned our ration packs wont have spam sandwiches?!

Read Dr Taj, read about him his life, and what he is trying to do for Islam in the Uk and for people who practice it.

Then you may have more of an ...idea.

adsy · 16/02/2015 18:37

ghosty turkey ham isn't dangerous but many people find the Halal slaughter method to be cruel and distasteful. The point is ( as you well know) people who would have been against Halal slaughter were effectively tricked into eating it as they thought it was ham.

KnittedJimmyChoos · 16/02/2015 18:37

Anyway Wilts, thanks for your posts, even if they are quite scary.

ReallyTired · 16/02/2015 18:38

IS is nothing to do with Halal or any dietry restrictions. Single sex swimming is no different to other single sex education.

The majority of IS victims have been Muslim. The murder of hostages gets more publicity. The murder of non muslims is horrific, but homosexuals have been thrown off buildings and dissenters have been crucified. Women have been stoned to death for "adultery". The level of violence has horrified a lot of real muslims.

The only thing that stops ww3 from happening, with Russia and the USA involved is the knowledge that it'd be total destruction on both sides. What would be the point. Mutual Assured Destruction they used to call it. Surely they wouldn't be that daft.

ghostyslovesheep · 16/02/2015 18:38

Adsy are you suggesting the tiny percentage of radical Muslims that exist within the 4% of UK Muslims could come to power in the UK

you realise Hitler was democratically elected?

The answer is not to demonise the whole 4% and feed the Islamaphobia

ghostyslovesheep · 16/02/2015 18:40

all birds killed in the UK under Halal are stunned - just like all none Halal birds

so that's a non argument really

and yes Isis pose the greatest threat to other Muslims - not to 'us'.

Koalafications · 16/02/2015 18:41

Just to understand why posters on MN think that no pork means WW3?! Seems a bit, um, unnecessary.

As I said I don't agree with pork being banned, in fact I find it quite offensive. I just don't think it's got much to do with IS.

Lovemycatsandkids · 16/02/2015 18:42

verbena

So you are probably a holocaust denier and of course George bush carried out 9/11.

Grow up dear.

cleanmachine · 16/02/2015 18:44

This thread is ridiculous in parts. Wilts you have gone from isis to halal meat, to subway and now to Rotherham. Anything else you want to pin on this pesky muslamics?

Ffs some of you need to read back your comments and see how racist you sound.

ShebaRabbit · 16/02/2015 18:46

I think there is a war coming, the 2008 financial crisis has not been solved only pushed down the line. Post 2008 more and more economists are favouring Keynes again. The old economies (EU and USA) are faltering and think they need a "good" war to get things moving again as it will not be them or their children who will be sent off to die in it. I'm afraid Europe will not be safe from this war. IS and other fundamentalist Muslim groups make good bogeymen to distract us from the fact that all wars are ultimately about money, not religion or ideology.

Arsenic · 16/02/2015 18:48

That'll teach me to refresh the page. Why does every sensible, interesting thread have to get hijacked by this halal meat side issue?

Lovemycatsandkids · 16/02/2015 18:49

clean

You can't be racist to Muslims? It's a religion encompassing many races just like most religions.

So racism isn't possible in this debate.

Race and religion are seperate issues.

marthasmith · 16/02/2015 18:49

Sheba.... Do you mean a nuclear one.

adsy · 16/02/2015 18:52

To all the people who cry that any debate means people are being racist; have you ever wondered why it is so often Islam that comes in for all the criticism? Surely if people were just pig ignorant racist, they would be equally demonising Sikhs and catholics and Zoroastrians. Why do you think they pick on Islam if it's not for the fact that when taken literally by it's supporters then it scares people?

Lovemycatsandkids · 16/02/2015 18:52

I think the halal issue was introduced as a slippery slope to appeasing religious practises in a secular society.

Appeasing any religions can be problematic, surely that's up for debate, although I agree off the op.

Chippednailvarnish · 16/02/2015 18:52

Wilts you sound just like Andrea Minichiello Williams from Christian Concern, the irony is that her views aren't actually that far from those held by Islamic Fundamentalists...

Verbena37 · 16/02/2015 18:53

lovemycats of course not. The media now is not the same media as in WW2. Please don't imply that. I'm offended.

I didn't actually say IS hadn't killed anyone ...merely suggested that it would be very easy (in our extremely high tech world) to fake anything in order to promote a cause.

Verbena37 · 16/02/2015 18:54

Although your line about 9/11 I mighht agree with but that's after years of looking at a lot of research which suggests it to be true.

ARoomWithoutAView · 16/02/2015 18:54

We have seen what happens when regions fragment - the former Yugoslavia and now states within the Middle East. It creates a vacuum. Why there should be those who advocated or advocate breaking away from the Union and then indeed now Europe, in my view represents the greatest danger. A fragmented Europe could be the biggest mistake we make.

adsy · 16/02/2015 18:55

verbena please get back to the sixth form common room

SirChenjin · 16/02/2015 18:55

Your suggestion remains very offensive and wildly inaccurate.

Lucy61 · 16/02/2015 18:56

Wilts- 25% of Muslims worldwide are radicals?!!! How exactly was that measured?!

I accept that people of religion should be able to take criticism/ a joke but accept vilification?! Really? When you vilify others, you dehumanise them and when people are dehumanised, then they become vulnerable to horrific crimes. It's what the Nazis did to the Jews. That's why almost an entire nation stood by while their fellow citizens were persecuted; the Jews were vilified first.

Not suggesting that the Islamic community is at any risk of this but just giving a reminder from history of how dangerous it is to vilify a people.

Lovemycatsandkids · 16/02/2015 18:57

The child abuse in Rotherham had absolutely nothing to do with religion or race.

The authorities were lazy and sloppy and failed to act to protect vulnerable young women.

From what I have read of the case it was the sexist stereotyping of these girls being 'slags' and 'cheap' so the police weren't interested. The authorities were lazy arses and so these vile gangs were able to abuse girls of all communities and races.
