I know courts generally take the view that as long as the dv perpretrator hasn't abused the children then they have a right to some involvement in the children's lives. I generally struggle to see how dv cannot have affected the children psychologically even if they were not themselves targeted.

This decision is absolutely disgusting, truly. What on earth can the judge have been thinking! Poor, poor woman.

If I were her I would take those children and leave the country. Emigrate to somewhere he can't exert any control. And why the fuck wasn't he done for attempted murder? He'll be out in a few years!

This man could have killed this woman and left them motherless. Yes I feel that if the man is abusing/ assaulting tge woman especially in the presence of he child, it's like they are assaulting the child.

That is vile and should have been attempted murder ffs. He tried to stop her looking pretty for other men?!! He slit her fucking throat and knocked her unconscious a few times and refused to call an ambulance. Poor woman and those poor boys, found laid in bed with her covered in her blood. I hope he rots in jail. I really hope that ruling is overturned by someone with an ounce of sense and compassion.

How can it ever be right that he might be allowed to see or have a relationship with those children when he gets out of prison?

That poor woman, if being attacked wasn't enough now she has to deal with this. I hope she has a very good support network around her and at some point this ridiculous decsion can be re-looked at and over turned.

I don't understand this. If she had stayed with him, she would probably have had her children taken into care for failing to protect them from a violent influence.
I don't understand how a judge can actually come to this kind of ruling. Utterly bizarre and totally fucked up.

How is what he did not child abuse? Surely beating and almost killing a child's mother in front if them is all kinds of fucked up! How the hell is a child ever supposed to get past that sort of thing

Frankly, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions on this on the basis of that very limited report. I notice that it refers to "negotiated" terms - which rather implies that they weren't imposed by the court? I also notice that the report doesn't feature a copy of the court order itself.
