To want to kill this cat?

Looked out my window this afternoon while cleaning (and still feeling smug about it Grin) and saw next door's cat shitting on my garden [mad]

I went out to chase it away to find that it clearly isn't the first time it's done this!! Now my garden needs a mow as it hasn't been done since november (bloody rain) so I haven't seen the sea of shit that now hides in my grass. Pissed off doesn't even come close, I live in the country FFS and surrounded by fields so it's not like it's lacking in places to have a crap [mad]

How can I stop it shitting in my garden? My toddler has just started playing in the garden again now the weather is a bit better, I really don't want him to go blind!!! (ok so a bit melodramatic but still!)

Grin at people getting worked up over bloody cats.

If you care so much about your cats vermin then keep them inside. Or contained.

If one gets into my garden and eats something it shouldn't, or gets ripped apart by my aforementioned whippets then that's fair game. I have 6 ft fences around the perimeter. If the fucking stupid animals still insist on jumping down to use my garden as a litter tray then they deserve everything they get.

I'd never go out looking to harm an animal. But I don't let me dogs piss and shit everywhere, so why should you let your cats. Keep them locked in the house and buy litter trays.

patienceisvirtuous · 13/02/2015 07:10

Yeah animal cruely, such a laugh. Vile.

I have two much loved pet cats. They're indoor cats with an outside enclosure. Wouldn't risk them being harmed or frightened by some nasty cunt.

By all means be pissed off at the owner, not the innocent animal acting instinctively.

Kind of goes hand in hand though doesn't it?

My dogs would love to be released to run around and have freedom. But I don't let them, because, you know, that would make me a twat.

Most cat owners think they have the right to just let them out. In fact, I don't think I've ever met anybody in RL who keeps their cats in.

Ergo, owners fault. I'm still not allowing cats on my property.

patienceisvirtuous · 13/02/2015 07:18

Cats have a right to roam. And being cruel to them is illegal.

Also, they're not the same as dogs. You can hardly stick them on a fucking lead and take them for a walk.

monkeyfacegrace · 13/02/2015 07:18

Patience, the only time that could happen is if both dogs were off lead being exercised. In which case, yep it would be a bitch but it would be both our faults for having the dogs off lead. If my dogs were on lead and got savaged, or the 'pitbull' (love the stereotyping there) got into my garden, I'd kill the dog. No question.

if we are comparing to cats, and my dogs went wandering off and got into a garden with pitbull in, of course my dogs would deserve to be ripped apart. But I dont let my dogs wander off.

monkeyfacegrace · 13/02/2015 07:23

And yes you can lead them and walk them. Who says you can't?

Or build an outdoor run. Or put wire around the top of tall fences on your own garden.

Justwhy · 13/02/2015 07:23

We don't have cats in our garden. They have learned to take a wide berth of my house. The ginger one even crosses the road once it gets to mine. They know that a hissing lunatic woman lives in my house and that the door flies open and out she comes when they step foot on my land.

We have a new cat to the neighbourhood which I spotted in my garden yesterday. It will learn.

patienceisvirtuous · 13/02/2015 07:24

I stereotyped to use a bigger, stronger dog as an example.

Trying to make comparisons between the two species, as you're doing, is ridiculous.

And as for a cat 'eating something it shouldn't' in your garden, well there's a special place in hell for animal abusers - and yes, putting out a saucer of antifreeze puts you in that category.

patienceisvirtuous · 13/02/2015 07:30

Have you ever tried walking a cat?

Their survival instinct pretty much means they don't trot along happily on a lead.

We have a run, it was damned expensive to build. Not everyone can afford that.

If cats in your garden bother you, use humane methods of preventing them - not cruel/painful ones ffs - and even worse feel fucking smug about it.

blackcats73 · 13/02/2015 07:32

Monkey what a wonderful human being you are.

Laughing st the suffering of an animal .

I wish there were more people like you!! The world would be a much better place.

Love your cat? Want to own one? Then KEEP IT IN YOUR FUCKING HOUSE!!!!

This^

MythicalKings · 13/02/2015 07:33

We back onto farmland and occasionally we get rats. The rat man puts down poison. If a cat comes into my garden and poisons itself that's the owner's fault for allowing it to roam.

I'm not putting up with rats on the off chance a cat enters my garden uninvited.

Inthedarkaboutfashion · 13/02/2015 07:35

We have a run, it was damned expensive to build. Not everyone can afford that.

Well if they can't afford it then they shouldn't have a cat. Other people shouldn't be inconvenienced because somebody wants to own a cat but can't stop it from shitting on other peoples property.
I'm sure you wouldn't be happy if I sent my husband to shit on your lawn because I couldn't afford to fix my broken toilet.

patienceisvirtuous · 13/02/2015 07:36

Nation of animal lovers Confused

patienceisvirtuous · 13/02/2015 07:38

A human knows better inthedark. Stop making ridiculous comparisons.

But if he did, I certainly wouldn't poison him or take pleasure in him being ripped apart by my dogs.

Inthedarkaboutfashion · 13/02/2015 07:40

A human knows better inthedark.

Which is why they should build a cat run if they want to own a cat. I wasn't expecting the cat to build it himself you know.

FindoGask · 13/02/2015 07:40

"If you care so much about your cats vermin then keep them inside."

Most cats are outdoors animals. When we got our two from the animal rescue, they did a home visit first and checked that they would have access to the outside.

I see far more dog shit around where I live than I do cat shit - but you won't see me yucking it up about poisoning dogs or having them ripped apart, because that's the sort of thing an arsehole would do.

monkeyfacegrace · 13/02/2015 07:44

I can't afford a field for my ponies either. So I don't have a pony.

And yes I can compare species.

If a human makes a decision to own an animal, then it needs to take care of its needs. Buying a cat and releasing it into the wild, then feeding it daily? How the bloody hell is that justified?!

Gothgirl78 · 13/02/2015 07:44

Fooking hell, another reason to feel that mums net has gone loopy, read a cat thread!

What nasty pieces of work some of you are, wishing suffering on someone's pet.

I've never met anyone so anti cat in real life.

Mums net is definitely a parallel universe sometimes, full of arses.

( hides thread and promises never to open cat threads so not to get depressed by the amount of unpleasant people in the world)

FindoGask · 13/02/2015 07:45

"If a human makes a decision to own an animal, then it needs to take care of its needs. Buying a cat and releasing it into the wild, then feeding it daily? How the bloody hell is that justified?!"

What are you even talking about.

fluffyraggies · 13/02/2015 07:45

Skimmed the thread.

OP to deter cats i would advise:

  • keeping your lawn very short, (some cats don't like shitting out in the open, and even a few inches of grass feels 'safer' than a closely cropped lawn), - use orange peel scattered (small bits, lot of them),
  • try the lion dung,
  • use the metal cat thing with the staring eyes,
  • get the hose on standby permanently if you have one, so you can fly out side and squirt it at the cat,
  • and finally maybe get one of those high pitched noise making things to deter cats cats.

All the above are toddler friendly :)

Once you break the cycle and the cat finds somewhere else to go it will hopefully stay away.

We are very rural, and we do have foxes in the area, i've seen them playing in our garden, but they never shit on our lawn. Perhaps we're just lucky, but the point i'm making is that shit on the lawn is not inevitable just because you live in the countryside.

monkeyfacegrace · 13/02/2015 07:46

Most dogs would love to be outside animals too. Again, build that run.

And dog owners that allow their dogs to shit everywhere deserve a good beating too. Not denying that for a second.

Inthedarkaboutfashion · 13/02/2015 07:50

Cat owner thinks it is justified to own a cat even though he can't afford a cat run and knows his cat will shit in the neighbours garden.
Cat owner doesn't think it is justified that he should build a cat run to contain his cats shit because he says cat run is too expensive.
Cat owner thinks it is okay to tell neighbour to spend money on lion poo, cat sonic device and various other things.....

Neighbour doesn't own the fucking cat and shouldn't be the one spending money to prevent cat from shitting in his garden just because the cat owner lacks funds.

Justwhy · 13/02/2015 07:51

I think people do feel like it in real life too but you don't generally go round a friends house that has a cat and tell them that Mr Cuddles is a bastard.

The Internet is a good place to rant.
