To want to kill this cat?

namechangeafternamechange · 12/02/2015 19:02

Looked out my window this afternoon while cleaning (and still feeling smug about it Grin) and saw next door's cat shitting on my garden [mad]

I went out to chase it away to find that it clearly isn't the first time it's done this!! Now my garden needs a mow as it hasn't been done since november (bloody rain) so I haven't seen the sea of shit that now hides in my grass. Pissed off doesn't even come close, I live in the country FFS and surrounded by fields so it's not like it's lacking in places to have a crap [mad]

How can I stop it shitting in my garden? My toddler has just started playing in the garden again now the weather is a bit better, I really don't want him to go blind!!! (ok so a bit melodramatic but still!)

x-posted with the inevitable fox-shit comment.

You might want to learn to read. I didn't say it was fox shit.

namechangeafternamechange · 12/02/2015 19:35

Why does anyone's right to X trump someone else's right to Y? We have to live with other people's choices all the time.

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/02/2015 19:36

Oh Soupy I didn't mean to dis you. Grin I just get used to being irritated by fox shit references when I have no foxes.

namechangeafternamechange · 12/02/2015 19:36

SATAY STICKS Grin I have 2 cats and they don't ever poo in my garden, they usually just come inside and do it at the end of the kitchen instead. i call it a dirty protest.

Sallyingforth · 12/02/2015 19:43

Anyone leaning towards a 'green' agenda should be in favour of exterminating domestic cats from the UK.
These creatures are the entirely unnatural result of centuries of breeding from wild and imported species, resulting in the heavy predation of natural UK wildlife. The mess they leave in gardens is actually the very least of the problems they create.
Let's get rid of domestic cats altogether!

Royalsighness · 12/02/2015 19:44

Ocelot and general big cat shit keeps foxes and cats out of your garden, sounds silly but you can get it from zoos or off the internet and it works! Just don't let your toddler near it or put it in a bait box/Tupperware with holes in.

echt · 12/02/2015 20:02

While I agree there too many cats, and would go for a max of two per household, I do wonder what he UK would do with the explosion of rodents if there were 1(cat reduction 2) access for rodents to lots of lovely waste food due to millions of humans.

It's always the image of cats chowing down on lovely birds, not giving rats and mice some grief. Oddly.

Research in Australia shows that habitats were what affected wildlife populations, native wild animals did best where pet cats were unfettered but there was plenty of bush land.

The decline of songbirds, as noted in country areas as in the city, is not down to the pussy cats. Does anyone seriously think that cats chose to eradicate sparrows and leave the blue tits, robins, blackbirds?

ghostyslovesheep · 12/02/2015 20:08

I have 4 cats Grin you will never take my fur babies away

MistressMia · 12/02/2015 20:09

Anyone leaning towards a 'green' agenda should be in favour of exterminating domestic cats from the UK.

Humans are by far the biggest biggest cause of the decline in all types of wildlife. Our urban expansion and destruction of natural habitats such as hedgerows, the use of pesticides and other environmental pollutants cause far far greater damage.

We're the most destructive and selfish species on this planet. Even the RSPB have conceded that cats aren't the main culprits.

www.rspb.org.uk/makeahomeforwildlife/advice/gardening/unwantedvisitors/cats/birddeclines.aspx

Cat defecating on other peoples lawns is a completely separate matter and no one should have to tolerate it.

elfycat · 12/02/2015 20:46

I love cats, I will always have cats.

But after one of my cats was killed in an unfortunate-dog-chewing-incident I couldn't help but notice how much less poo there was on the gravel drive. I'd rather have had my cat but there was a silver lining.

But YABU of course.

(what do you do to stop muntjac deer pooing in the garden?)
((what do you do to stop muntjac deer eating your veg patch?))

Dr0pThePirate · 12/02/2015 20:50

I hate ALL dogs and their owners and want to shoot them in the face.

Really I do.

(I'm I doing this right?)

Roll up, roll up... another cat shit in garden thread Confused

Sallyingforth · 12/02/2015 22:39

We're the most destructive and selfish species on this planet

Absolutely. And one of the destructive things we do is to introduce species where they don't belong. e.g. grey squirrels into the UK, and artificially-created varieties of cats and dogs.
Domestic cats are vermin.

Silverdaisy · 12/02/2015 22:56

neighbours have to deal with many issues they find unbearable. One neighbour will have complaints about cat poo, next door they are finding the massive trampoline to be Anti social. The neighbour who hates the cats, has 4 cars taking up the street, or the family who have never brought their children up to be aware of boundaries.

Nobody is perfect is what I mean, it would be interesting to find out what your neighbours think of you.

EdSheeran · 12/02/2015 23:08

royalsighness thanks to your picture of creepy cat, I'm going to have nightmares.

Moln · 12/02/2015 23:09

I think you are Dr0pThePirate, though I think it's the dog you should want to shoot in the face not the owners. It is acceptable because dogs shit on footpaths, parks and people's front gardens.

lemisscared · 12/02/2015 23:16

I'll lend you my jack russels they are killing machines well they bark and perform like killing machines but cower in fear at an actual cat/dog stand off. your neighbours cat wont know this

lemisscared · 12/02/2015 23:19

coco i dont think the zoos sell it anymore.

can you get your dh to piss in the garden. this apparently works.
