Exhausting, privileged, learning.

I am a student nurse. I have done a 13.5 hour day today, but it was amazing. I had a patient who is expert in her disease and she honoured me by telling me all about it from diagnosis to where she was on admission today, totally for my learning, which she understood from the start.

I was also working with a fabulous nurse and being given all sorts of learning opportunities.

Now, tell me yours please.

Fucking council planners.

Do I need to explain? GrinGrin

Mammanat222 · 11/02/2015 21:58

Tiring, rewarding, exciting.

Tiring - I have toddler and a newborn. 'Nuff said
Rewarding - after a shit start to bfing and yesterday thinking I had a blocked milk duct, today we've had a really good day feeding wise.
Exciting - dear friend of mine (I've known her 20 years) is in labour. She is having a tough time though and not dilating well so after 18 hours she is now on the drip. I'm so excited for her to finally meet her baby though. She has been through so much to get here.

IAmAllImportant · 11/02/2015 21:58

Oh no, two with bad days!

Poorbuthappy, have they turned you down or given permission to neighbours?

Stressful busy terrifying

I have driving phobia and got stuck in a car park today and couldn't get out, had to execute a 20 point turn whilst shaking like a leaf and holding up loads of traffic.

ClickMyHeels · 11/02/2015 22:04

Poorly, excited, worried.
Poorly- I've got viral flu, and although I've felt a bit better today my throat is still v sore and I'm a bit achey still.

Excited- we go to disneyland Paris tomo and ds (6) and dd (4) are going to have such a great time! I can't wait to see their little faces.

Worried- I've been off work with said flu since Monday and now I'm on leave until next Wednesday. So all those things I wanted to get done aren't done and I feel a bit anxious leaving my services for a week. Sure everything will be fine, it's just not how I normally leave stuff.

poorbuthappy · 11/02/2015 22:10

Neither.
Planners have decided our approval has expired even though we have started and had the footings and slab inspected.
And our Brickie was due to start tomorrow...ConfusedConfused

Sick child, work

Have been trying to work from home around a sick child. I also have a baby (although he has been at nursery some of the day).

I am still trying to do my work now. It is difficult and urgent.

DH has annoyed me a lot by going straight to bed when he came in from admittedly a long working day and not helping to settle unhappy sick child. (Baby was already in bed as he is good!).

Was in hospital half of last night with dd (the sick one!).

SweetPeaPods · 11/02/2015 22:15

Double teething hell
Ds1 (20m)and ds2 (4m) are both teething at same time.

306235388 · 11/02/2015 22:16

Painful. Frustrating. Loving.

Have hurt my neck and am in a lot of pain, docs being useless but dh being quite understanding and dd gave me a big cuddle and insisted on dh buying me a plant at the shops. Ds not remotely bothered by his poor mothers pain

cakewitch · 11/02/2015 22:18

500.portions. cheesePie. Every bone in my body is killing me. I need to sleep.

nocoolnamesleft · 11/02/2015 22:18

Fucking viral tonsilitis.

(Though nice to hear you had a worthwhile day, OP. Working in the NHS is exhausting, frustrating, overstretching, and sometimes incredibly rewarding. Teaching someone who wants to learn is one of the bits that makes the job better)

florentina1 · 11/02/2015 22:19

Grateful, grateful and grateful

To my OH is taking care of me following my accident
To the NHS
To all the ladies on mumsnet who have kept me entertained for the last 3 weeks and hopefully the next 3 while I am laid up.

OohLaLaa · 11/02/2015 22:19

Ooh I like this thread!

Stressful, nostalgic, amusing.

Stressful: my DD had her 4 month injections this morning. I hate them, they make me so stressed and I cry with her

Nostalgic: I ordered a lot of photos from my phone, and I have been sorting through them today.

Amusing: I sent DM a text with a awful autocorrect earlier, we have been crying with laughter on the phone to each other!

OohLaLaa · 11/02/2015 22:23

A awful?! I meant AN awful of course!

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 11/02/2015 22:23

Skint, Sad but Content.

Maxed out the overdraft, only realised today. Had a head in sand approach while on Mat Leave. Now need to return to work asap.
Baby has chicken pox.

But above all else we have a happy home full of love.

ShakyTheStork · 11/02/2015 22:25

Cried at work.

Sorry I can't expand on that.

PacificDogwood · 11/02/2015 22:26

Loooong, interesting, funny.

All 3 job related.
12+ hr day.
Never a dull moment.
Some laughs were had.

Tomorrow I am hoping for: short, interesting, successful home check to allow for dog fostering (sorry, more than 3 word Grin)

TwoAndTwoEqualsChaos · 11/02/2015 22:28

Tiring, phlegmy, busy.

Four children, multiple directions, two particularly bad nights and a cold that won't go but saps my energy.

steff13 · 11/02/2015 22:30

Stressful, busy, exhausting

  • One car in the shop, so I had to drive my husband to work this morning.
  • #1 son had an orthodontist appointment, so I had to pick him up at school and drop him off there.
  • Our daughter's babysitter is sick, so I had to pick her up after preschool instead of her going to the babysitter's house. Her school lets out 10 minutes after son's ortho appointment.
  • My husband got sick at work, so after I picked up our son, dropped him off at the doctor, picked up our daughter, went back and picked son up from the doctor, and dropped them at home, I had to drive 30 minutes away to pick him up from work.
  • Husband is texting me from the bedroom for snacks and medicine, while I'm trying to work.
hazeyjane · 11/02/2015 22:30

Satisfying
Funny
Proud

Got on with my first college assignment (after last doing anything educational 21 years ago)

Had coffee with a friend, who makes me laugh.

A little girl came up to me and ds and said, 'well done ds for blowing out the candle in assembly, you did really well' - ds is non verbal, so hadn't told me, but he beamed, I was so pleased that he had been able to do this (he struggles with assembly - too many people) and also that this older girl had looked out for him, and took pride in his achievement.

Triply proud because dd2 passed her 12 times tables after quite a struggle and dd1 was moved up a maths group.

DropYourSword · 11/02/2015 22:33

Stressful settlement day.

Should get the keys to my new house today. Should. Conveyancer has been useless through the entire process, I lost faith in her weeks ago and so will be furious but not entirely surprised if she's made some sort of error which means we don't get to settle today.
