Strange DM story today, nothing adds up

It must be true if it's in the Daily Mail! Hmm

Velocirapture · 07/02/2015 11:17

I think that the DM grows these people in a lab.

expatinscotland · 07/02/2015 11:19

Bollocks non-story. Designed to benefits bash by the back door.

expatinscotland · 07/02/2015 11:25

And spending £100 a week on a B&B as a treat. This crock of shit is full of holes. The couple are dipshits, too, if any of it is true.

JudgeJudyKicksAss · 07/02/2015 11:27

I read this this morning and Iccouldn't get anything to add up!
Why are they continuing to furnish a loan they obviously cannot afford to pay? Surely some kind of debt management plan should be in place.
Why is SHE continually turning down offers of work? If my situation was so desperate I was living in an airport surely I'd take whatever work I could to improve things, even short term.
Why is the fact they are in this situation only skimmed over?
Friends and family? Can they really not help?
Heathrow airport? How can anyone really live there and not be spotted eventually?

Questions...questions... Questions...

dhdjdbrjrkbr · 07/02/2015 11:28

I don't think its a benefits bashing story, just don't know what its purpose is.

People with 200k cash and with out secure job take on a lot of debt then surprise surprise can't service it.

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 07/02/2015 11:28

That is madness. £300 for storage, sell it surely.

hiddenhome · 07/02/2015 11:30

They've had an awful lot of money in the past, I wonder where it's gone.

Tiredemma · 07/02/2015 11:33

I read this.

Got as far as the £50 a night BB 'treat' and concluded it was a wind up.

Its a non-story.

Move up north.

VixxFace · 07/02/2015 11:35

1400 a monthShock Shock Shock

MightyMightyToros · 07/02/2015 11:37

MN hates the middle class. So I'd be shocked to find one sympathetic comment.

TheFairyCaravan · 07/02/2015 11:39

They won't be sleeping in Heathrow anymore now they've got their faces in the papers!

It is a benefits bashing story, just look at the comments. It is "look at us, we've paid our taxes and we're getting no help. Unlike the useless, feckless, lazy bastards who have 13 kids, a 50 in Tele, a goat and a free house!"

NickAngel · 07/02/2015 11:42

They have such a perfect ' sad face'
I lost interest and any shred of sympathy when wife said shd watched films on her smartphone on airport free wifi.

fairgame · 07/02/2015 11:43

if they had half a brain cell they would have moved north ages ago. They could get a lovely little house for £500 per month where I live. They have no ties in the south, his daughters live in Canada so I don't understand why they have chosen to live at Heathrow! I'm not what they are trying to achieve by going to the DM.

paxtecum · 07/02/2015 11:46

I thought they could sue whoever gave them a £100k mortgage when he was 61.

Silly buggers should have bought a mortgage free flat 10 years ago, not that very naice detached house in Poole.

SocialMediaAddict · 07/02/2015 11:46

Really bizarre story. How do they afford their smartphones? Why don't they move somewhere cheaper? Even in parts of London you can get a room for £600 a month.

paxtecum · 07/02/2015 11:47

Maybe they are hoping someone will lend them a deposit for a rental.

SocialMediaAddict · 07/02/2015 11:47

Guess they want crowd funding?!

OnceUponATimeAgain · 07/02/2015 11:49

why would there be any sympathy? surely £1,400 a month is enough to rent somewhere -especially as they are spending £300 on furniture storage + £100 a week on b&b- thats £700 'wasted'

expatinscotland · 07/02/2015 11:51

How can you be middle class when you live in an airport.

Yep, sounds like they want crowd funding and someone else to provide them with the home of their choice.

With £200k in pocket they would not even have had to 'move north'.

Crumblevision · 07/02/2015 11:53

I call bullshit on this couple. I reckon they are actors.

WeAreEternal · 07/02/2015 11:53

I don't believe for a second that the people pictured or the story told are true, I suspect they interviewed someone in similar circumstances and decided to write their version of the story.
It just doesn't make sense, there are way too many inconsistencies in the story.

expatinscotland · 07/02/2015 11:57

Almshouses. It says they contacts almshouses. PMSL.

Longdistance · 07/02/2015 11:58

Why even LHR? Just weird this story. There's more to this surely.

They should have sold their furniture and belongings on eBay/Gumtree to make some money for a deposit. Why is she turning down work? Didn't she used to be a nanny?

NeedABumChange · 07/02/2015 12:00

Hey could get a double room in a shared house for £80 easily. Yes it would be in crappy hounslow but still cheaper than their b&b treat! Also don't understand how they frittered away the £190,000 cash they got from selling their smaller house???
