8 days overdue with DC1 can't stop crying, just been reminded of my Grandad who passed away 2 years ago and really need a hug. DH not home from work yet and have the worst period type pains which can't be contractions because they don't come and go.
cry...sniffle...cry

I hope your sat eating lovely hospital toast and tea with a snuggly newborn!Smile

Sallystyle · 08/02/2015 19:26

I went out last night on a very rare girl's night out. Every hour I checked this thread.

I hope you are too busy cuddling your baby to update instead of being too busy to update as you are still in labour.

Thank you so much for all your kind words. Unfortunately I'm not yet holding a baby...spent the last 2 days contracting without it doing much. can't remember what I've posted and what I haven't as it's been such a mad few days. So to update...
waters went yesterday all very exciting and then the contractions really notched up. 5 or 6 in 10 mins. Really quite painful! was sent home to labour and come in when I was more established. so came back in only for them to completely stop as soon as I was in a room. Cue patronising midwife who told me that I was never in labour in the first place and I really needed to consider my pain relief options if I couldn't cope at home with niggles. Angry needless to say I went home and cried and cried feeling an utter failure.

Which then meant that I didn't resume contracting when I got home so now I'm back in being induced. just had the pessary so it'll be a 6 hour wait for me to establish otherwise the dreaded drip will go in.

I really don't want the drip so please please keep everything crossed that this pessary works!!! I got re - examined internally too. Friday I was told I was 2-3cm today it's 1 - 2cm Hmm

anyway I will update. Signal is shocking but writing all this out is helping me process what's happening. I am very very anxious about intervention and the drip so talking is helping. Thanks for those still listening

Good luck MrsCK. Ignore the bitch who said that to you
My fingers are crossed that you won't need the drip!

Dinkydoos · 08/02/2015 21:59

Oh Mrs ck, so sorry to hear this. arsey midwife sounds like a grade a misery! Feck her! We are all behind you, you are not a failure in any way ( although she is shite at her job) . Don't worry about the route now, you will end up with snugly baby soon. With the smell! ( v jealous of newborn smell) Grin

Thanks lucky I think they will only do the one because my waters broke more than 24 hours ago now. Hooked up to the ctg and it is showing contractions. not loads but it is happening!
(and silly midwife woman can't argue with the machine!!!)

You must be exhausted already!

FranTan · 08/02/2015 22:22

I didn't need the drip for my induction, MrsCK, the one pessary was enough. Can you keep vertical as much as possible to aid gravity? I remember pacing the hospital corridors with DH at your stage and holding onto him with each contraction.

BubbleLight · 08/02/2015 22:24

Been watching your thread and really feel for you. My first labour lasted for 3 days, proper painful all the time (baby was back to back) and I felt like I couldn't cope by the end. I also was examined as being 4cm and then back to 1cm 8 hours later and its soul destroying! It happened again in my 2nd labour, although it was over in 24hrs. Try to rest if you can, its so hard though. It will be a distant memory one day! Xx

FranTan · 08/02/2015 22:27

Having said that, I did have the dreaded drip with DC1 towards the end (non induction labour) and it was just what was needed for progression.

Of course you are anxious, labour is bloody exhausting and scary but your baby will be here soon. Try your best to relax (god I want to slap myself!)

MrsCK · 08/02/2015 22:28

Thank you. You've helped me feel a bit more normal!!! at NCT they never tell you labour can stop and you might be in what feels like established labour for days on end....I was beginning to feel very much a failure. planning on walking for a couple of hours when I am allowed off the ctg monitor. DH is snoring next to me so seems only fair he gets woken for a walk Wink

Oh and we got the car started!!! DH bought a mains car jack and managed to find a parking space at the hospital next to a wall with a socket...just in case it dies again...he was very proud of himself :)

I had a midwife who told DH I had a low pain threshold. Was close to sharing my pain level with her. Angry
Will be checking in the morning to see how you're doing.
Goodnight x

Perspective21 · 08/02/2015 22:42

Oh bless you Mrs CK, this sounds just like my first labour. I felt like it was all going wrong and was exhausted after a couple of days. Eventually I had an epidural which was such a relief as I got a proper break from the pain. After thinking from NCT classes it was a bit of a cop out, I was bloody thrilled to have it. My DC1 was an awkward little thing and did end up Ventouse but that wasn't dreadful either. They just explained what was happening and why and out our hesitant daughter came!! Please don't panic yourself with how things may/may not pan out and try and focus on each 20 mins. I had one very good midwife who suggested this. Let's try...(whatever) for 20 mins and see how we feel. It helped me slow the panic and focus a bit. Take all pain relief going, you'll be so very tired. Good luck, I'll check back xx

mineofuselessinformation · 08/02/2015 22:48

To echo what pp have said, if you're tired and finding the pain hard to cope with, definitely go for an epidural. I so wish I had with my first labour....
And it might just help your body relax and get on with it. Good luck!

mineofuselessinformation · 08/02/2015 22:51

By the way, you have every right to feel all of what was in your op - you're having a baby!!!Smile

Perspective21 · 08/02/2015 23:00

Mrs CK I'm afraid I have to sleep now as that awkward little baby from labour no1 has a big week at high school this week. I went on to have another daughter and a son and it's odd but if I think back really hard (14.5 years) i can remember pondering first time motherhood!!
I wish you all the luck in the world and hope you labour well tonight and that maybe the morning will deliver your beautiful baby Thanks

FranTan · 08/02/2015 23:01

In my NCT class, the tutor would not make reference to pain, preferring to call them "interesting sensations"!! Grin Even though I had yet to give birth, I knew at that point to disregard much of what was said.

I echo what's been said about pain relief - pethidine and epidural sorted my interesting sensations!

ChippingInGluggingOn · 08/02/2015 23:06

BrewBiscuit

Try to eat, drink & sleep when you can :)

Long labour, easy birth.

It's an old saying, but one you might as well embrace whole hearted lay right now!!
