8 days overdue with DC1 can't stop crying, just been reminded of my Grandad who passed away 2 years ago and really need a hug. DH not home from work yet and have the worst period type pains which can't be contractions because they don't come and go.
cry...sniffle...cry

Hooray for you, both my labours started off with me in floods of tears. Those lovely hormones really help!

Hold off going in to hospital as long as you feel comfortable. It's the frequency of the contractions you need to pay attention to, but I don't know what the current guidelines are, sorry.

Iggly · 05/02/2015 18:46

Give the midwife a ring. You say the pains are fading in and out?

MrsCK · 05/02/2015 18:55

Yup but not lasting very long at all. constant ache there all the time and then twinges

I was like that in the morning. Full blown labour by that evening. Fingers crossed for you.

MrsMinton · 05/02/2015 19:04

Tearful and dreadful backache all day and at 4.37am the next morning a little boy!!
Try and eat now as you may have a long night ahead. Flowers

MrsCK · 05/02/2015 19:10

The backache has been horrific too actually. I just assumed it was how I was sitting though?
in the bath and pains have gone so now I'm wondering if it was just indigestion!

DH has gone to get chinese....Thank you to the poster who suggested that!

Wombat22 · 05/02/2015 19:14

((hugs)) op. Hope all goes well Thanks

SorchaN · 05/02/2015 19:15

That sounds just like the way my labour started. Enjoy the Chinese - and the imminent arrival of your new baby!

carlywurly · 05/02/2015 19:16

I had period type pains both times. Got to the hospital and was 7cms dilated with my first, he was out less than 2 hours later. I was also shivering violently and threw up. Glamorous business all round Grin

Good luck!!

MrsCK · 05/02/2015 19:18

Ahh that's reassuring! I just can't get warm!!!! I honestly hope this is it although I've spent the last month saying I think this could be it so I'm not getting my hopes up until the tens machine is on!

OP posts:
3luckystars · 05/02/2015 19:35

Good luck!!

sebsmummy1 · 05/02/2015 19:40

If you ring the labour ward they are likely to tell you to take paracetamol and go to bed. When they said that to my DP when we rang the first time (it was about 11pm and I was laying over a Swiss ball throwing up into a bowl) I fucking laughed as the very notion of trying to sleep was crazy. After the third time we rung in, and with my contractions a few minutes apart, they told me to come in and I was in active labour. So personally if you are still able to write on here and consider sleep I don't think it's time for you to go in yet.

my2centsis · 05/02/2015 21:37

Good luck op, try to for a walk if possible, helped me both times :)

PenguinSalute · 05/02/2015 21:42

Oh OP my pains were constant - I remember the midwife asking me on the phone if a new contraction had started and just hissing 'the last one hasn't fucking finished yet...' I was really emotional and clingy to DP the day before DS arrived too. Sounds promising! But still, as you wanted one...bereavement is shite, labour or not.

DoJo · 06/02/2015 00:01

I had constant back ache with twinges when I was nearly 40 weeks and was assuming I'd go over. Turned out I'd spent the best part of a day in back to back labour without realising that you could have no real pain around the front (or indeed realise you were actually in labour!). Hope all is going well for you, whatever's going on! Flowers
