8 days overdue with DC1 can't stop crying, just been reminded of my Grandad who passed away 2 years ago and really need a hug. DH not home from work yet and have the worst period type pains which can't be contractions because they don't come and go.
cry...sniffle...cry

Yay!!! massive congratulations Thanks

Yes, please do come and share your birth story when you are up to it if you are comfortable doing so. I suspect you will need a long long rest before you have the energy to do so Grin

I am not one for birth stories usually but I have been watching this thread for days waiting for the news.

Welcome baby CK and congrats to your husband too.

Thank you so much. I'm so pleased with how the birth went...I had a massive moment of doubt before we drove to the hospital. burst into tears on DH and really felt scared about the induction process, losing control of my decisions and ending up with instrumental delivery that was harmful to baby as a result of my incompetence as a woman. I think that was all due to mean midwife who seriously made me doubt myself.

anyway it didn't end up like that! I will post my full birth story I promise. I'm going to write it up with DH as some bits are hazy still so it'll be good for me to go through it Grin

As for his name...well let's just call him Little O. He is starting to get the hang of feeding although my nipples are really sore despite an ok latch. He fed really inefficiently yesterday though. 4 hours of sleeping at the breast whilst not really feeding led to me needing to top up a little with formula....and he now seems a different person! slept for 5 and a half hours so far tonight Smile

we are still in hospital but that's just because I'm a wuss and still in pain but also Little O was born with a tooth and they want to check to see if it needs removing to prevent a choking hazard.

oh my I'm so in love with Little O and MrCk right now. Two amazing men in my life who just seem to get more incredible as the days go by. MrCk is actually amazing. He is so so good at helping me breast feed and seeing him settle Little O after a nappy change or a feed is the most wonderful thing in the world. They just stare into each others eyes and it's like pieces of a puzzle just fitting together. It really is wonderful.. I feel so blessed

Congratulations. Can I give you a little tip about the feeding? About this time when my milk came in I was so swollen DS couldn't latch on and hadn't fed for a while. The most wonderful midwife came to home and spent 4 hours helping me. I pumped some milk off which allowed him to latch on and I just kept feeding him through the next couple of days to which got him established. I did the same with my second and it really worked. I can't thank that midwife enough for what she did for me and she makes up for the few unpleasant ones you can encounter.

I also sympathise over the loss of your grandad. I lost mine 2 years before DS arrived. He would have been so pleased. We gave DS his name as a middle name to keep him with us.

Good luck with your little one. It is a very tiring but exciting time. Just take your time, try to relax and go with the flow!

Thank you all :)

I think milk is coming in tomorrow so I'm planning on spending the whole day feeding away to get him well and truly into it :)
