To think I am not 'too old' to have fossil bags?

I have just sold a mulberry handbag on ebay and I told the buyer I wouldn't have used it as I am really into fossil bags at the moment. She replied and said she was ''too old'' for those. I am confused.... are they for young people? I am 35..am I too old for them too?

Had to google this as I thought you were referring to little bags that you take when you go looking for fossils.

I would say that they look very grown up. I'm 41 and I think I'm just entering a stage of my life when I'd consider having a bag like this.

NormHonal · 04/02/2015 20:12

I would have said that, if anything, you are too young.

seeminglyso · 04/02/2015 20:18

Phew... so do you think my ebayer thinks its due to price that they are ''younger''? I felt like it was an insult as in - oh they are for kids I am into Mulberry's now - to me a Mulberry is a waste of money.

I have no idea but I did hear a story once about a woman who's boyfriend bought her a Mulberry bag every time she let him...ahem... take her up the wrongun do something a little different in the bedroom.

I now can't even hear the expression Mulberry bag without thinking about that! Shock

Mrsstarlord · 04/02/2015 20:24

Just googled, I prefer Fossil ones, Mulberry are definitely more old fashioned (and have dodgy connotations!)

TheIronGnome · 04/02/2015 20:25

Ah, I would love a fossil bag AND a mulberry bag... I'm late 20s. I don't think you're too old for either of them!!

Only1scoop · 04/02/2015 20:27

I was in the fossil outlet store the other day and totally stunned how lovely some of those bags are....

I bought a leather cross body....

I'm 42 Wink

NoArmaniNoPunani · 04/02/2015 20:28

I've sold myself short then. I could have had an entire Mulberry shop by now

Only1scoop · 04/02/2015 20:29

I also bought an understated M Korrs one....now I know that's pushing it....

Mrsstarlord · 04/02/2015 20:31

Lol!

Therewere5inthebed · 04/02/2015 20:33

NoArmani
Grin that made me giggle.

seeminglyso · 04/02/2015 20:36

Ohh selling yourself sexually for a Mulberry...lol :) I really like fossil bags, I think they are classy, understated. I think Mulberry are not even nice and way way over priced for what they are. I can only justify a fossil and I think they are expensive.

I bloody love Fossil bags.

No you are not too old!

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 04/02/2015 20:40

My DH likes Fossil stuff and his taste hasn't changed since he was a 17 year old skateboarder (still wears his jeans round his arse!) so if I hadn't seen Fossil bags I would maybe think it was a 'young' brand. Their bags are lovely though and pretty grown up id say! Id let DH do unusual sexual things to me for one Wink

MrsTawdry · 04/02/2015 20:40

I am such a heathen. I can't SEE the beauty in ANY popular bags! WHY? What is it about them? To me they're all ugly brown leather squares!

Explain it to me someone?

Smoorikins · 04/02/2015 20:41

How do you know the age of the person that bought the bag? Did she collect it in person?

DoJo · 04/02/2015 20:41

Somewhere in my head is a hilarious joke about being old and fossils, but I am too full of cold to winkle it out. If you could all just assume that I managed it a give a little chuckle, my lurgy and I would much appreciate it. Thank you very much.

HoneyIsBeePoo · 04/02/2015 20:43

MrsT me too! To me those Fossil ones look no different to the one I got from New Look for £18. Spending a fortune on a bag is weird.

seeminglyso · 04/02/2015 20:45

DoJo - I bet it was all kinds of funny, I hadn't even thought of the fossil connection :)

Smoorkins I have no idea how old she is but to say she is ''too old'' for a fossil bag suggest there is an age limit on them.

MrsTawdry · 04/02/2015 20:45

Honey me too! I can't see the difference between those and the cheapo ones sold at the market. I can probably FEEL the difference but either way they just don't look pretty to me. Or attractive. Boring brown leather.

What's attractive about them...someone come and tell me please so I don't feel so deficit!

Only1scoop · 04/02/2015 20:46

I was shocked at how grown up their bags are....I always think of them making tacky watches etc

NutcrackerFairy · 04/02/2015 20:50

I had never really considered buying a Fossil bag... For some reason I had associated them with being a young woman's brand. Not sure why, I don't think I actually know anyone who owns a Fossil...

So I thought I would have a look at their website... and they are bloody gorgeous!

Really where have these beauties been hiding all my life???

I think I love you the most

NutcrackerFairy · 04/02/2015 20:51

I am 41 by the way Smile

Momagain1 · 04/02/2015 20:51

MrsT
I will join you in the not understanding of the handbags. Not just the current crop, but the whole concept of bags worth more money than I ever would carry in one.

But then again, most jobs I have had. i was dressed in jeans, or a uniform, and it was better to keep my keys and wallet in my pocket than risk leaving them in employee locker rooms where security was a joke. My purse is very utilitarian, and if I have a enough jacket or trouser pockets, I don't carry one. Hands free is the way to live.

seeminglyso · 04/02/2015 20:52

Honey and MrsTawdry - I can assure you they are much better quality than the new look ones...however when you go from Fossil to Mulberry quality wise there really is bugger all in it, yet price wise there is, hence why I stop at 120 pounds for a bag.
