I detest mascara. Why would you want to cover your eyes in gunky stuff everyday Hmm

magicpixie · 03/02/2015 11:57

"most people would look better with a smile"

well I agree with you on that

OP. Give your head a wobble. Seriously.

OnlyLovers · 03/02/2015 11:59

Tinted moisturiser is shite. Not good enough as moisturiser, not effective enough as a cover-up.

Vaseline is petroleum jelly and the nice short-term 'smooth' feeling is caused by it slightly burning your skin.

Essentially, just bugger off and worry about your own make-up.

UncrushedParsley · 03/02/2015 11:59

See, I shouldn't have bitten really. Tis like that saying, "Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig enjoys it."

morethanpotatoprints · 03/02/2015 12:03

Mascara is disgusting and makes your eyes look like great big spiders legs and it itches

tinted moisturiser - neither here nor there, does nothing for most people.

Vaseline just makes your lips all sticky and greasy.

As for blusher, sure the school kids would love applying this. Coco the clown, here we come.

You haven't thought this through, but its very funny.

CelibacyCakeAndElevatorMuzac · 03/02/2015 12:03

HullyGully Puppy is well lush, the publisher really makes her eyes 'pop' as I've heard various experts bore on about on tv

Chocolateteabag · 03/02/2015 12:05

I normally wear a bit of tinted moisturiser and powder but my eczema has flared up so anything I put on will just make it look far far worse.

As for mascara, with my weepy eyes? Instant panda.

I do try to make an effort, just some days anything more than basic moisturiser will just awake me look even worse! I know several friends in RL have the same problem - so please don't be so quick to judge.

CelibacyCakeAndElevatorMuzac · 03/02/2015 12:05

The blusher, NOT publisher!

fatlazymummy · 03/02/2015 12:08

As an experiment, I've just applied some lip balm (sadly, I don't have any of the other products).
Yes! You're right OP! I look amazing!
Thanks for that OP. Do you have a beauty blog or anything I can follow? I need more of your wisdom.

ArcheryAnnie · 03/02/2015 12:08

I look like a panda when I wear mascara as I forget about 3 mins later and rub my eyes.

Maybe a healthy panda, but a panda nonetheless.

Ketchuphidestheburntbits · 03/02/2015 12:08

I'd look healthier without my wheelchair, mobility scooter and walking stick but at least people will notice my lovely make up.

PatterofaMinion · 03/02/2015 12:10

It may be that you are right and some folk would look better with a bit of make up on.

So?

People have a choice, to a degree, as to whether they wear it or not. I'd imagine a lot of people don't have time. I haven't got time to find the blusher my toddler has once again taken and lost, or put it on, most mornings, so the list you give in your OP just makes me laugh out loud.

I don't think I could be bothered even if I did have the time.

I notice people seem more friendly towards me when I do wear blusher though. And it's all I ever do wear in that regard. Perhaps it makes me look less sleep deprived than I really am.

ILovedYouYesterday · 03/02/2015 12:11

To be absolutely honest I do look a bit healthier and less tired with a little bit of makeup on.

However, I am a complete failure as a woman Wink and can never seem to get the hang of applying it. DD does it for me for special occasions! Rest of the time I really can't be arsed so the rest of the world have to put up with me looking grey and knackered!

formerbabe · 03/02/2015 12:13

I look better with foundation, concealer, eyebrow pencil, mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, bronzer, blusher and lipstick. I wear this everyday. Op...yanbu!
Very few people look better without make up...and don't believe the crap that men don't like women wearing make up.

Letmeeatcakecakecake · 03/02/2015 12:13

Fuck it, I'm that 1% lost cause Sad

BauerTime · 03/02/2015 12:15

You know what OP, I sort of agree with the sentiment of what you are saying, I just don't think you thought it all the way through.

I could definitely do with being a bit more groomed, but the fact is that I just don't give one tiny fuck. Being more groomed or looking a bit brighter isn't going to change the way I perform at work, or care for my son, or go and get the groceries etc.

If it matters to you how others see you in the physical sense, then slap on the 'natural' (?) mascara, and blush and enjoy your day. You probably will look 'better' for it, but I don't think its going to change your life.

fatlazymummy · 03/02/2015 12:17

I've decided to live my life pretty much as a man in this respect.
No makeup, hair styled naturally, flat comfy shoes, short nails etc. I do shave parts of my body (armpits, legs and bikini line) but then most men shave their facial hair so it's a fair swap.
Feels good.

Micah · 03/02/2015 12:21

Depends on your definition of "better"

Personally I don't see a difference. People look like they do. Or they look like they do, but with make up on.

I don't think cosmetics make people look "better", or prettier, or healthier. In fact much of the time I'm wondering what they're hiding, or why they think they need so much make up.

Anybody who judges me for not wearing make up or for not being "groomed", can FTFO.

PatterofaMinion · 03/02/2015 12:21

High five FLM Smile

I have a trunk full of dresses I will never actually wear unless my life changes radically - I put them in there last month and will probably give them all away at some point once I have established I don't need them, ever again.

jeans all the way and big rigger boots, happy happy.

Quenelle · 03/02/2015 12:24

I tried tinted moisturiser. It just made me look oranger.

Hoppinggreen · 03/02/2015 12:24

No, I would still look like shit but then I'm a fat knacker who needs a haircut!

Titsalinabumsquash · 03/02/2015 12:27

I wouldn't look any better, I have Rosacea on my face that only needs a sniff of product before it erupts into infected, bleeding scabs

Thanks for the tip though OP Wink

fatlazymummy · 03/02/2015 12:28

patter I still wear dresses in the summertime sometimes, but only because I find them cooler and comfortable. It's comfort first for me.

CheerfulYank · 03/02/2015 12:29

That's my entire makeup "routine". I don't know how to do anything else. For special events I have to bring in professionals.

I don't know, OP. Maybe they would, but a lot of people aren't bothered and why should they?
