Better than with no make up at all, or better than if they wore loads?

magicpixie · 03/02/2015 11:20

yeah I know it does hide blemishes, that's the point!

Just slap a mask on everyone, op...

SaucyJack · 03/02/2015 11:21

YANBU. Jimmy Carr looks lovely with his slap on.

But seriously, yes most people do look better with subtle make-up on obviously. Not sure why you've started a thread about it tho. It's entirely personal choice.

LittleBairn · 03/02/2015 11:21

Thankfully 99% of people aren't as vain as you.

iwantgin · 03/02/2015 11:21

I don't care what I look like 99% of the time.

As long as my clothes are clean, I don't smell, and my hair is brushed I am good to go.

TheyLearnedFromBrian · 03/02/2015 11:21

It's astonishing that making this LAW is not part of the election manifesto for any of the major parties.

OP, have you thought of standing as a single-issue candidate?

Our cities, parks and open spaces should be an eyesore no longer.

elfycat · 03/02/2015 11:21

Mind you I am the 1%. People swoon as I walk past. Random men run up to me in the street with flowers - and I don't even use Impulse spray. I've been offered many modelling contracts but I've decided it's not fair on all the other people in the industry.

Maybe I need the Stan Winston school to help teach me make-up skills.

MissPenelopeLumawoo2 · 03/02/2015 11:21

Are you an Avon Lady? If not I am not sure why it bothers you if people wear make-up or not!!!

DropYourSword · 03/02/2015 11:21

Sorry, ignore me. Clearly my brain just 'sploded there or something! I've confused even myself. I think!

Skatingfastonthinice · 03/02/2015 11:22

Magicpixie, the last time we talked, you were pissed as a drunkard's fart.
I doubt a boatload of cosmetics would have helped you look bright and healthy. Grin
I think most people would look better with a smile, but a large number just stomp past looking grim and pissed off, even if their make-up is fab.

Unpronounceable · 03/02/2015 11:23

And people say Mn has dumbed down.

Dumbledoresgirl · 03/02/2015 11:23

They might look 'better' but, unless they are cattle being sold in a market, I don't see how it will make a difference to any outcome. Or do you not buy a ticket or your groceries from someone looking a little pale or tired?

For me, it would be a betrayal of my principles, not to mention a waste of my money and an unnecessary use of my time.

LaurieFairyCake · 03/02/2015 11:23

Yes, most women would look better

But who wants a society only based on looks ... oh wait, we have one.

I've downloaded the Duolingo app and am learning very basic French in 5 minutes a day - personally I think anyone would be happy, healthier and more educated doing this - a more worthwhile goal maybe than spending it on looks?

But I wouldn't impose it on anyone else ..

'It's astonishing that making this LAW is not part of the election manifesto for any of the major parties.'

I reckon it'll be the next thing on the curriculum, along with how to shake hands and have a conversation.

Nancy66 · 03/02/2015 11:23

I look better with make up definitely but not the combination you describe.

I don't like tinted moisturiser, Vaseline is a barrier cream actually very bad for your lips.

Flingingmelon · 03/02/2015 11:24

OP - you are the woman in Starbucks this morning who was looking at me pityingly.

For the record, I got a flat tyre on the way to creche and was waiting for it to be fixed. Only the nursery staff were supposed to see me! Grin

ExitPursuedByABear · 03/02/2015 11:27

The Welsh X Warmblood doesn't give a shit what I look like, as long as I have his haynet over my shoulder and his feed in my hand.

highlighta · 03/02/2015 11:27

Do you work for Unilever OP? Wink

Showy · 03/02/2015 11:28

I find it mildly upsetting to think there are people out there judging me for not looking like they think I should. Not sure what's worse, the being judged by an individual or being measured against a marketed standard of what "awake and healthy" looks like. Few things annoy me tbh, but a sweeping assertion that the face my parents gave me somehow just isn't quite up to scratch unless I embellish it, is ridiculous. Bog off and colour in your own face.

Bowlersarm · 03/02/2015 11:29
Confused

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Maybe ignore is the best option.

mypoosmellsofroses · 03/02/2015 11:30

Bog off and colour in your own face.

Awesome! YY to this, saves me typing my own reply :)

Mrsmorton · 03/02/2015 11:30

OP, you are a bellend.

highlighta · 03/02/2015 11:30

What is natural mascara anyway? Is it clear with no colour, and if so what is the point of that..................?
