Should have cleaner/tidier houses seeing as they don't work? I'm a sahm with severe disabilities (supported by dh - no hand outs) & I keep my house clean.

Ps this isn't just about people on benefits - it just so happens I'm watching it on TV now.

"If you have a free ipad" just made me choke on my Pepsi max Grin

DeeCayed · 29/01/2015 23:12

Ok she mentioned hand outs (and I'm aware of a couple of her other threads) but her post is about how clean their houses especially as they don't work so even though they have pre-schoolers they could still fit in some form of house work.

Give the kids some baby wipes and get them to help clean the doors or a little dust pan and brush and sweep the floor.

ThePrincessBride · 29/01/2015 23:14

Pmsl no I don't have a free ipad how I wish, on old battered laptop, moi doesn't even have touch screen phone. I am living the dream. I searched and cant find any other posts from this person which would make me think troll alert and do you know if it is that is just sick, twisted and wrong Angry

ghostspirit · 29/01/2015 23:15

in dont think a benefits thread is ever genuine.

yeah i dont get people moaning about the dlr car either he would have had to go for medicals ect to have been allowed the car. they dont just give it to him... although i do still think he was a bit of an arse though.

ouryve · 29/01/2015 23:17

Use advanced search, PrincessBride. OP isn't hairy handed, just constantly contentious. There have been so many bridge dwellers recently, though, that I automatically do an advances search before deciding whether to reply or report.

troll: not saying its ok but i can sort of get the trolls that do wind up type threads benefit ones for example. im sure there are others... but i really dont get premature birth ones or similar

ShadowsCollideCantLogInToMN · 29/01/2015 23:26

MrsDeVere, your post about your son's mattress reminded me of my sister. We had bunk beds in our room as kids, with foam mattresses. Sister loved eating foam, and pulled chunks out of each mattress and ate them. She also once ate the soles of a pair of flip flops Grin.

Also, re the OP, really, I can't be arsed getting worked up over how tidy or not anyone else's home is. Really, who gives a fuck. My home is messy and I don't have any children. I prefer to spend my time doing enjoyable stuff, rather than being a housework martyr.

Also, nokids, I don't need to respect anyone's opinion. I certainly respect their right to have an opinion, and voice it, but need to respect their goady twatty opinion? No.

ThePrincessBride · 29/01/2015 23:35

Dixie if that is a troll well they had me fooled and I actually cant believe someone would do that on that subject. Yip may have name changed agreed but something doesn't sit right. I'm going to check from now on also. Fed up of stinking trolls. Think that's why everyone was being silly earlier been a bit weird on here lately.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 29/01/2015 23:38

Feel my butt needs some air.

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 29/01/2015 23:39

What would Judge and similar do if their provider husbands ran off with someone nice else? Claim benefits themselves, or starve to death in a freezing cold (because of no heating) but pristine house?

I think there are some people who mistakenly act like they're not a few months of pay cheques away from poverty themselves, living in cuckoo land, unable to imagine any circumstance where their life were not so peachy, who are also unable to empathise with others who have already experienced how life can shit on you - unexpectedly, and despite plans to safeguard your living standard. You can't plan for every eventuality.

nemo81 · 30/01/2015 08:34

Its not just some large families that live in filthy houses, i've seen plenty of filthy houses where theres only one or two kids. So maybe your post should be more general 'should people with kids keep their houses clean!'

TooHasty · 30/01/2015 08:44

A school near to us provides iPads on loan to all its students and the parents pay so much a month.the poor kids borrow them free.they are a major learning tool.

Dawndonnaagain · 30/01/2015 08:48

Why didn't I know about the family fund? I have had to purchase three new mattresses since Christmas. All of them old, but all of them further damaged by dd2 obsessive picking. I thought I knew it all.
I guess it's my fault for not keeping an 18 year old out of the other bedrooms!

EdSheeran · 30/01/2015 08:48

TooHasty That is a really nice and inclusive idea. If it were me though, I'd be panicked that I'd drop or lose the iPad. That said, it doesn't affect my family because we get free iPads as a state handout as a result of my disability. Wink

judgejudithjudy · 30/01/2015 09:04

Ffs it's not a benefit bashing thread - it was about the sahm who let their kids live in filth - did you not hear the part about Lisa being berated by the school for how dirty she sent them in?! No kid should have to go through that & undoubtedly will be bullied for being smelly.

The houses were disgusting & if you're going to be on TV, wonder why they didn't tidy up?! Or did they &the houses were even dirtier than before?!

My kids deserve to live in a clean but chaotic house! End off.

Thanks for this hysterical read. Perked me right up Grin

formerbabe · 30/01/2015 09:43

I don't understand the polarisation of views about benefits. I am right in the middle...I don't hate people on benefits nor think they are all living the life of reilly (sp)...However, there are a small number of people who are doing well on it and playing the system to get the maximum out of it.

I also see on these threads a bizarre assumption that you are either on benefits or are a rich bastard...fwiw I'm neither. I have no car currently and can't afford one, my dc don't have tablets or computers...We share ours with them. I have lots of home improvements I need doing but can't afford to do. Not being on benefits doesn't equal well off!

I agree anyone could end up on benefits...life can deal us all a shit hand sometimes. Nevertheless I do question those who have never worked yet have several children. That is irresponsible. Benefits are a safety net not a lifestyle choice.

judgejudithjudy · 30/01/2015 10:16

Once again, please no benefit bashing as one day any of us could end up needing benefits.

It's about sahm who live in filth & control to breed!
